Dr. Lomke has been serving the people of Montgomery County Maryland in the clinical practice of dentistry for over 39 years. Patients travel far and wide to be treated by a leading authority on clinical dentistry. His practice focuses on cosmetics, crown and bridge prosthetics and implant dentistry. His greatest source of satisfaction remains the daily interaction with his patients.
He has appeared on Channel 9 TV News to educate the public on High Tech Dentistry. Dr. Lomke has attained the level of Educator for the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), which is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to the advance of education of all dental professionals in the field of dental lasers. In addition to his full time general dentistry practice with a special interest in dental laser applications, he teaches other dentists and hygienists the safe and effective use of dental lasers and incorporating these techniques into patient care. His laser training certification sessions are ongoing. He has lectured on laser dentistry to other dentists around the United States as well as to international audiences at the annual ALD meetings. Dr. Lomke has served as a special advisor to the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners on dental lasers.
Dr. Lomke graduated (Cum Laude) from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1976. He was awarded his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) by the University of Maryland Dental School in 1979. Dr. Lomkes general practice residency was as a 2nd lieutenant in the US Public Health Service, 1979-80. Since then, he has been in private practice.
Dr. Lomke is a member of the American Dental Association, Maryland State Dental Association, Maryland State Dental Society, Southern State Dental Society, Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), Potomac Valley Study Club, Maryland Implant Study Club, The Forum Study Club of Bethesda, Global XP and the Maryland State Program Donated Dental Services.
Dr. Lomke is one of a select number of international Certified Dental Laser Educators and has attained the level of Mastership in the Academy of Laser Dentistry (MALD). In addition to his general dentistry practice with a special interest in dental laser applications, he teaches other dentists and hygienists the safe and effective use of dental lasers and how to incorporate these techniques into patient care. Dr. Lomke has lectured on laser dentistry to other dentists around the United States as well as to international audiences at many professional dental conferences, including: ADA, AGD, PDA, CDA- Anaheim, ALD among others,
Dr. Lomke is a lecturer and hands-on trainer for dental laser technology. He provides an ALD-approved Standard Proficiency Course to other dentists and hygienists. This course is designed to properly and appropriately educate dentists and hygienists and provide a basic knowledge of all laser wavelengths, laser physics, history of laser science, and laser safety as well as various clinical dental laser applications.
As a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), Dr. Lomke has earned Advanced Proficiency in dental lasers; then achieved the Certified Dental Laser Educator level in 2000. He currently uses Diode, Erbium, Argon and Carbon Dioxide laser wavelengths in his everyday practice. Further, he has served as Chair of the ALDs Membership and Educator Committees. Dr. Lomke was honored with the ALDs Distinguished Service Award in 2015. He also served as the Chair of the ALDs General and Scientific Sessions Committee at the 2016 annual conference in Orlando, Florida.
Dr. Lomke received his B.S. in biology from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2011 and was then awarded his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2015, graduating near the top of his class. Dr. Lomke also received membership to multiple honors organizations including Gamma Pi Dela Prosthodontic Honors Society, GORGAS Odontological Honors Society, and Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity.
Following graduation, Dr. Lomke spent almost 4 years working in Connecticut under the guidance of a nationally renowned and awarded cosmetic and full mouth rehabilitation dentist. During that time, Dr. Lomke was able to hone his skills with respect to smile makeovers, veneers, as well as other complex and cosmetic dental treatments.
Dr. Lomke has decided to return back to the Mid Atlantic to be closer to his family and join his fathers practice. His goal is to provide only the finest treatments and dental care to the surrounding community.
As a general dentist, Dr. Lomke will treat and manage our patients overall oral health care needs, including gum care, root canals, fillings, crowns, veneers, bridges and more complex procedures. Dr. Lomke is a member of the American Dental Association, Maryland State Dental Association, Southern Maryland Dental Society and regularly participates in continuing education courses to advance his dental knowledge and provide only the newest and finest technologies to his patients.

I had previously been a patient of Dr. Mitchell Lomke when he was just starting out. He is a perfectionist and is excellent at his work. Recently I returned to the practice and am now seeing his son Dr. Joshua Lomke. I absoutely adore him. He is just like his father, being a perfectionist and loves his work. I highly recommend this practice to everyone. If you want it done right go here.

All my life, I have struggled with dental ill health that left me hiding my teeth and afraid of the dentist. Instead of blaming me, Dr. Lomke worked with me to create a treatment plan that radically transformed my teeth. Now I have the healthy, strong, and beautiful smile I've always dreamed of! He and his staff were compassionate and extremely competent. I highly recommend Dr. Lomke and feel lucky to have found him!

Finding Dr. Lomke and having him throughout my cosmetic journey was an absolute blessing! I am still in awe and smiling so much from all the amazing work he did to be able to make me have a nice beautiful smile. Dr. Lomke is very detailed and dedicated to his patients. The level of accuracy and organization he puts into in his work is amazing. He is also very knowledgeable about his sector of work. Upon the first consultation, he provided a step by step plan of all the work needed to be done starting first from sending me to a very good orthodontist to get my Invisalign. Following the end of every procedure, he kept in touch with me to see how the healing process was going and any pain or questions in general I might have. I recommend anyone that needs dental work and a new smile to Dr.Lomke.

I've had great experience with Joshua...he always explains the procedures and provides pain-free care. Once my appointments are scheduled there has never been long wait times. We will continue with this practice as they seem much better than our former dentist!

Dr.Lomke is the GOAT. He got me all set up with aligners (similar to Invisalign) and saved my teeth from inevitable cracking (from hitting against each other due to malocclusion)! He is kind, informative, and gives the best possible care. He answered all my millions of questions, I was completely comfortable in his office, and I felt that my best interest was prioritized throughout the experience. Also, my aligner treatment required multiple visits and all of the different staff members I interacted with were amazing! The front desk associates and the folks that helped out with procedures were super friendly, helpful, and skilled at what they do. Thanks guys!

I highly recommend Dr. Josh Lomke, especially if you are a high-anxiety dental patient the way I am. Both dentists and all staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. My crown that I had to get done feels amazing. I really appreciate the time and attention to detail. Can't say enough!

I've been to many dentists, and by far they are the best! Not only have they done a wonderful job with every procedure I've had, but they've listened and done everything I've expressed interest in. For example, I had an extremely gummy smile that I dreaded. Once I communicated that to them, they made a plan contoured to me. They removed the gums (which look beautiful now!) and are working on a plan for whitening and straightening. I'm already so pleased with the difference! If you care about your teeth look, this is the right clinic to visit. I had a problematic issue with my front tooth that made me less confident with my smile for years. I did enough research online and I ended up visiting Dr. Josh who carefully listened to my concerns and presented different approaches to deal with my tooth issue. He was confident but also realistic and he explained every small detail with me so I take the right decision. I decided to make a tooth implant and he did such a great job. It was a bit long journey, but the result is satisfying. I live almost an hour away from the clinic, but I will definitely keep visiting Dr. Josh and I recommend him to all family and friends.

I visited Smile Designs of Olney few days ago to repair a chipped front tooth . Dr Josh and dr Mitch Lomke were recommended by a friend and I'm so glad I trusted his advice. Dr Josh Lomke did an amazing job fixing my smile. He was very knowledgeable and caring. ,and most importantly artistic ,so my front tooth looks brand new ,like the fracture never happened . Office is very clean and stuff is pleasant and friendly . I am very satisfied the way I was treated at Smile Designs of Olney .I am definitely going back and I will bring my son with me to be dr Josh Lomke's patient as well for dental work needed.

I would absolutely recommend this place to any one! I just had my appointment 30min ago and it was an extremely thorough cleaning prefaced by a complete set of X-rays because I'm a new patient. The equipment was very modern and sanitary. All the staff are very kind and helpful. Dr. Josh is very knowledgeable about this field and was able to answer every single one of my questions. He was able to spot problem areas in my mouth that other dentists could not and provide solutions. I will be coming here for all my dentistry needs!
