Simone is the owner of Smile Design Studios, Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Missouri City, Texas, and has established herself in her community as an authority in practice management. Simone earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Xavier University of Louisiana and her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Rutgers University School of Dentistry formerly, the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey. This vivacious leader is the founder and president of the Houston Minority Dental Society and is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), National Dental Association (NDA), American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) and the Greater Houston Dental Society (GHDS). She also sits on the Board of Educators for the Dental Assisting School at the University of Everest, Houston Campus.
Additionally, Simone is a certified clinical evaluator for The Clinicians Report and a candidate for Diplomat with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Simone actively volunteers with the Houston Make a Wish Foundation and the American Dental Associations Give Kids a Smile Day. Annually, through her practice, Smile Design Studios, Simone gives back to her community through various outreach initiatives.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, I attended MCPHS University for my Bachelors in Science, and then went on to receive my Doctorate in Dental Medicine (D.M.D), from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. I relocated to Houston, Texas in 2018, and I have fallen in love with Texas ever since.
Knowing that the dentist can often be a frightening experience, my goal is to always help you feel comfortable, safe, and educated about your decisions. My passion for dentistry comes from a deep understanding of how a great smile can transform your life and help you reach your goals and full potential. Im more than happy to assist you, no matter your dental state.Starting with a comprehensive exam, I can diagnose and treatment plan all your necessary oral health needs and deliver them in an enjoyable environment. I am a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), National Dental Association (NDA), and American Association of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). Being that the field of dentistry is ever evolving, I devote countless hours to improving my dentistry via continuing education courses.
In my free time I create pipeline programs and mentor disadvantaged students that are striving to become healthcare professionals. I also enjoy tending to farm animals, exotic plants, rollerskating, and attending festivals. Hope to see you in the dental chair!

Smile Design Studios is one of best dentist practices in the Missouri City/Sugar Land area. Dr. Joy is such a caring and personable professional. I really appreciate the time & care she puts into her patients. My dental hygienist Tever was the best!! She definitely understood the assignment when it came to getting my teeth clean. I don't what anyone else cleaning my teeth but Tever!!!

Today was my third and last time visiting this office. The last two times I've asked what my bill would be on the confirmation call only to be told it's a significantly different amount after the services were performed. I even asked for my next appointment to be canceled after I was told my bill and I still received an appointment reminder hours later. They do good work, but attempt to take to take advantage of their customers with no remorse.

I love this place!! John is amazing he explained my ex rays and the procedures I needed. and Dr. Joy, well she's a joy! She gave me options for my treatment plans and took the time to explain everything! It was an awesome experience.

I have had such a fabulous experience at this dental office. I came in with some infected crowns. Dr Joy and Penelope were fantastic. This is a modern dental experience. It's a beautiful office with modern equipment. They offer nitrous oxide to relax you and music or a streaming experience with headphones. This isn't old-school dentistry . I've changed the entire family to SDS.

Today was my second visit at SDS Dentistry and once again I was impressed. Love that this is a black owned business. Super impressed with my hygienist John today. I feel super confident about my cleaning and it was painless. He explained everything before doing and made sure I was comfortable. I'll be back in 6 months!

I was very excited to switch my family over to this dental office. Unfortunately my family & I will not be returning. My son's visit with Dr.Joy was awesome! However, my visit with Dr.Ellis wasn't the best. I already have a dentist that I go to regularly but I wanted to try this one out as I wanted to a support a black owned business. Firstly I would like to say that this is definitely a money making business. I was told that I had bad teeth which was rude. I was then told by Dr.Ellis that I have a "gummy smile" and she would suggest me to get Botox on my top lip. She then said that she would suggest lasering my gums down to help my teeth appear longer because I had "baby teeth". She suggested replacing a crown that I have that isn't even a year old yet because she feels that it was inserted too high. She said she saw two cavity's in the back of my mouth on the x-ray that was big and needed to be filled sooner than later. Her attitude overall seemed a bit arrogant. I've never heard these comments about my teeth until I came to this dentist. The choice of words that you use matter, think before speaking. We will be sticking to our other dentist. Wouldn't recommend! Update: I went to my regular dentist to get a second opinion. Turns out I have 0 cavity's and my crown is in the correct placement.

This has been the best dental experience, by far. I came in and the staff were so kind and welcoming. They made me feel comfortable and open to speak about my dental concerns. Always upbeat and positive. The daily complements I get on my new and improved smile ...they are life changing!
