Dr. Kent Johnson graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. He has been practicing general dentistry in Moberly since 1980 with special consideration in cosmetics. Dr. Johnson is a member of the American Dental Association, the International Association for Orthodontics, the American Orthodontic Society, and the Academy of Cosmetics. He is involved with the American Society of Anesthesiology and serves on the Missouri Dental Board Intravenous Conscious Sedation Committee.
Dr. Johnson has also studied under one of the nations most respected cosmetic dentists, Dr. Rhys Spoor of Seattle, Washington. He has completed the hands-on clinical training for creating perfect smiles utilizing the latest in materials and technology.
Carl R. Liebhart, DDS joined Dr. Kent Johnson and the Smile Dental Team in Moberly, MO in July, 2011. Dr. Liebhart graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Missouri Dental Association, and The Academy of General Dentistry. In 2006, he graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with Honors in Microbiology, while participating in undergraduate cell biology research. He is a member of the Moberly Rotary Club, Vice President of the Moberly Area Young Professionals, On the Board of Directors for the Randolph Area YMCA, and a member of Moberlys Trinity United Methodist Church.
Dr. Liebhart takes ten times the state required continuing education every year to advance his studies in all aspects of dentistry, emphasizing in implant placement and rehabilitation of complex dental problems. Dr. Liebhart provides high-quality oral health care to all ages and especially likes treating children. As a recent graduate, Dr. Liebhart is well educated in modern dental techniques including providing them by the most comfortable means.
Dr. Liebhart enjoys the many benefits of Mid-Missouri including the outdoors and agriculture. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and working on his family farm in rural Macon County. Dr. Liebhart was born and raised in Northeast Missouri and attended Kirksville High School. He and his wife, Natasha, enjoy living in the country just outside of Moberly.
Dr. Hutinger grew up in Sedalia, Missouri. He completed his undergraduate degree at Mizzou before attending dental school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. Dr. Hutinger was hand-selected by faculty to participate in the Honors Oral Surgery Program and graduated with honors in 2013. Following dental school, Dr. Hutinger completed a multi-disciplinary hospital residency at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. Through the residency, he gained extensive experience in advanced surgical and restorative techniques in, oral surgery, dental implants, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatrics.
Dr. Hutinger is active in the dental community and is committed to staying current on the latest advancements in dentistry. He is an avid participant in continuing dental education and an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association and the Missouri Dental Association. Dr. Hutinger strives to provide the most advanced dental care to patients of all ages in a gentle and compassionate manner.
Prior to joining Dr. Lawson, Dr. Hutinger spent the last three and a half years providing dental care in the communities of Jefferson City and California, MO. During this time, he performed full mouth rehabilitation to children, and individuals with developmental disabilities in the hospital setting. Outside of the profession, Dr. Hutinger is an avid fan of Mizzou sports, Kansas City Chiefs, and St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoys playing golf, spending time at the lake and riding his bike. He and his wife Krissy Koehly, originally from Moberly, are extremely excited to have settled back home in Mid-Missouri and look forward to becoming involved in the community.
Nicole joined the the team at Smile Dental in 2009. She is dedicated to teaching and helping patients obtain the best oral health and hygiene. Her goal as a Dental Hygienist is to promote good oral health by instructing patients on proper home care and diet. Working alongside Dr. Johnson, Dr Liebhart, Dr. Hutinger and the team at Smile Dental, Nicole helps patients maintain clean, healthy smiles. She enjoys getting to know each patient personally and implementing a care plan for them. Nicole has a wonderful gentle touch and strives to make every patient as comfortable as possible during necessary care. Nicole attends continuing education courses required by the Missouri State Dental Board each year to keep up with current practices and the latest technology.
Nicole was raised in Shelbina, MO and graduated from South Shelby High School in 2003. She is married to Andy, who is a teacher and coach at South Shelby Middle School. Andy and Nicole have one son, Miles and one daughter, Tenley. Nicole enjoys spending time with family, being a mom, and attending basketball and football games.
Sarah joined the Smile Dental team in February, 2012. Her goal as a hygienist is to ensure her patients have all the knowledge available to keep their smile healthy for a lifetime. She enjoys working in a partnership with her patients to promote good oral health.
Sarah was raised in Salisbury and graduated from Salisbury High School in 2003. She is married to Clint who is an Assistant Control Room Operator at Thomas Hill Power Plant. They have two sons and a yellow Labrador. She enjoys spending time with her family, going camping, and being on the lake.
Maddie joined Smile Dental in May of 2021, she has been a tremendous asset to our Dental Family. Maddie graduated from the State Fair Dental Hygiene Program in 2021. Prior to pursuing her Dental Hygiene career, Maddie was a Dental Assistant. She is originally from Salisbury but currently lives in Moberly. Maddie is engaged and will be marrying her fianc Brandon in April 2022. Maddie has a Beta Fish named Gary and a yellow lab, Mac. Maddie enjoys growing plants, watching reality TV and spending time with her family. Maddie prides herself on providing ethical care to her patients as well as educating them on their dental health.
Hannah joined the team at Smile dental in 2017. Hannah provides patient centered care for each person that walks into her operatory. She strives to educate her patients about oral disease prevention and treatment. 'I want my patients to feel validated in their concerns about dental treatment and comfortable enough to express any questions they may have'.
Hannah grew up in Centralia, MO and graduated from Centralia High School in 2014. She is married to Wren, who is an agricultural pilot and owns a general aviation maintenance shop in Moberly. Hannah and Wren have a 1-year-old daughter, Sage, and a red heeler, Missy. She enjoys chasing around her busy toddler, spending time at the lake, and going on flying adventures with her little family.

Nicole is amazing. She works with you if something makes you uncomfortable. Dr Liebhart gentle hands make getting teeth pulled a pleasure. Update 2022: Neighbor Bob had an unusual experince. According to his profile he is extremely hard to please. Maybe needs to try a life coach... anyways, Dr Hands? Still pleasurable as always, all the girls are all smiles and always willing to help, even with last minute name spellings. Everyone there is great. Shaved knuckles are a nice touch.

I haven't been to a dentist in years, I never liked going to them. As soon as I walked in I felt at ease and welcomed. I was seen on an emergency basis and had a tooth extracted. Dr. Huntiger was so amazing, he made sure I was comfortable, and we'll taken care of. The entire team was super friendly and nice to me. I will definitely be returning whenever I need to be seen by a dentist.

A year and a half ago. My wife Imelda and I moved to the area just NW of Moberly Mo. We have been using Smile dental since we got here. I am sorry to say, and have had nothing but trouble with their service thus far. Today I had one of my simple two cleanings a year scheduled with Dr. LieBart I believe. When I went back the dental assistant wanted to take X-rays. I told her that I was not a fan of any unnecessary ionizing radiation. To which she was adamant that I get an X-ray. She had me go sit in the dental chair and speak to the Dr. Liebhart. I told him my radiation concerns, and he said it was "against the law" for him to do a simple cleaning on my teeth without an X-ray. To that I say please give me the case number of that law, as I allege that to be not true. He said that they needed it to discern what level of cleaning I may need. I told him just the basic one, and he would not do it without the X-ray. I told him that I had been to several Dentists in the past (which I have) that had no problem cleaning my teeth without an X-ray. Then Dr. arrogant told me that maybe I should go to one that does that, because he would not do it. So I gladly obliged by calling the office and having my wife's and my dental records transferred to O'Laughlin Dental. Who when I called said they understood my concerns and would clean our teeth without an X-ray. A year or so ago my wife went to Smile who extracted several teeth. They also told her she had like bad gum disease and needed some high dollar cleaning per quadrant. We opted to go back to our old Dentist in Bethany Mo. Who after inspecting her teeth, told us that she just needed a simple cleaning and her gums looked great! The tooth that Smile Dental wanted to extract, our old Dentist gave her some antibiotics and was able to save it. Also Smile Dental's prices were over twice of our old Dentist office, so it always pays to shop around. There have also been scheduling problems as well. In summation if you like high prices, and an arrogant Dentist that could care less about your needs. Smile Dental may just be for you.

My husband and I have had amazing experiences here, DrJohnson and the staff are super super friendly, professional and skilled! I was so blessed to find a dental establishment that provides up to date training, machinery/technology & education to the entire staff, AND still have that small town friendliness! Really wish I knew about Smile Dental years ago.

Told my family on phone no mask would be required, came for appointment and the story changed. Plenty of health professionals out there who respect your decision. Get this, because of the ventilation system they say a mask needs to be worn... but its taken off as soon as you get in the chair. Seriously.... its a game to these people.

Smile Dental has exceptional customer service, facilities, and staff members. Their care and urgency for you is optimal and professional. I recently finished my Invisalign experience and their attention to detail was beyond my expectations. Their staff was always friendly, welcoming, and ready for you whenever you walked in. I would recommend Smile Dental to anyone in the area!

BEWARE! Unfortunately I went to smile dental for about 7 or 8 years. Every 6 months for a cleaning and evaluation. (approximately 2010-2017) Like clock work each trip ending in root canals, and then crowns. Between my wife and I we spent tens of thousands of dollars at smile dental on dental work I believed we needed. On my last appointment with Dr. Liebhart my treatment plan AFTER insurance was about $5000 worth of dental work which had became normal at Smile. Decided to get a 2nd opinion. 2nd dentist fixed me up for about $200. Almost 3 years later with a new dentist I've spent zero dollars with him. Just a cleaning and thats it. I was not going to write a bad review about Smile Dental until 3 months ago I was sent to an oral surgeon in JC. I had 3 of the root canals Smile Dental did FAIL. The surgeon said it was due to broken drill bits in roots and Liebhart missing one of the roots completely. My wife has had the same problems as well. What a nightmare. Please consider another dental provider.

They are always friendly and you get in right away. The dentist is easy to talk and makes sure he's taking care of the problem the first time. Insurance or No Insurance they work with you on finances.
