Dr. Horst began her career in dentistry in 1997 with several years of experience in teaching, research, and clinical practice. She is well rounded in all facets of clinical practice, including private practice, faculty practice, hospital dentistry, and dentistry/endodontic treatment for special needs patients. She recently served as president of the Northern California Academy of Endodontics in 2015 and has served on the scientific advisory board for the Journal of Endodontics.
Dr. Horst completed her comprehensive dental/endodontic education and advance training atboth US and Thailand universities, including theUniversity of Washington, Chulalongkorn University, and Mahidol University. She also earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Washington and has focused her studies ongaining a deeper understanding and insight into biology, immunology, neuro-physiology, microbiology, and development of teeth and surrounding oral tissues. Dr. Horstjoined the University of Washington as an affiliate assistant professor from 2009 to 2013 and the University of California, San Francisco as an assistant clinical professor from 2011 to 2015.
Dr. Horst stays at the forefront of dental and endodontic technological innovations. She has authored a book and multiple key articles in dentistry, which were featured as a cover story for Journal of Dental Research in 2009 and Journal of the American Dental Association in 2015. She is also an ad hoc reviewer for many journals, including Journal of Dental Research, Journal of Endodontics, International Endodontic Journal, Archives of Oral Biology, Acta Biomaterialia, PLOS ONE, and International Journal of Medicine and Medical Sciences. She was awarded grants from National Institute of Health (NIH)/National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research for studies to develop new treatment protocols and technologies in dentistry.
Throughout her journey, Dr. Horst has accumulated extensive training and experiences to provide the highest quality of patient care through the use ofcutting-edge technologies for both clinical diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Shirley Lei grew up in the Bay Area. Shereceived her Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Davis, and her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Lei has served as part of a group practice for many years, where she excelled in all disciplines of dentistry, including crown and bridge restorations, root canals, implant restorations, and removable prosthesis, etc. She has also gained much experience with kidsas well as adults.
Dr. Lei enjoys all aspects of dentistry and derives much satisfaction from helping people by mastering her skills in dentistry. She seeks to further her skills by participating in continuingeducation courses and to keep current in all areas of dentistry as well as latest technologies, materials, and techniques, which enable her to commit to the best patient care and thehigheststandards in the field of dentistry.
Dr. Kim received a bachelors degree from theUniversity of Washington in Seattle and moved to Boston, where he graduated fromTufts Universitys School of Dental Medicine with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine. Since then, Dr. Kim has practiceddentistry in the Bay Area.
Dr. Kim enjoys being a dentist because it enables him to build a personal relationship with his patients whileproviding oral care. Through thatpersonal connection, Dr. Kim believes he can provide his patients with the best quality of dental care.
