I never say anyone has a bad smile, just a smile that needs a tweaking or a reboot and Im fortunate because I provide those services and get to see how my work can completely transform a persons life!

The saying, A smile can change lives, is very true: it can change a day, change a person, change a thought, change an impression, change a result. A smile is a universal language that needs no translation, as it reaches all people. No matter an individuals race, color, religion, socioeconomic status, education, or age, they understand a smile and respond with their own!

As an orthodontist, I love the interactions I have with my patients and families and being involved in whats going on in their lives, work, school, family, and interests. I am there during good times, sad times, funny times, difficult times, and because I see patients so often, I really get to know them as individuals. That, in itself, is deeply fulfilling.

What is even more rewarding, though, is being there for the reveal as a patient a person whos become my friend sees their changed smile for the first time. Their new and improved smile: Their Best Smile!

Dr. Brown is a third-generation dentist: her great uncle, then her father, and now her. By the time she was nine, and growing up in Nashville, Tennessee, she knew she wanted to follow in their footsteps, and then specialize in orthodontics. Even at that young age she loved working with her hands, was developing an artistic eye, and had a mathematical mind that could see an end result and how to get to it.

She attended Brandeis University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree, and then Meharry Medical College, where she was awarded her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) and was a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Brown then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Orthodontics through a rigorous program with a full merit scholarship at the University of Michigan.

Having practiced for over 30 years, Dr. Brown is proud to say she loves her profession as much today as when she started. Through orthodontics she brings all of her skills and knowledge together to design and perfect smiles, affecting peoples lives, physical and mental health, self-esteem, and confidence!

By completing continuing educational courses and specialized training, Dr. Brown and her team ensure the practice is up-to-date on the latest techniques, philosophies, and materials. This makes treatment more comfortable, efficient, and stable, and further allows Dr. Brown to customize treatment to suit each patients needs. Being able to utilize a broad base of knowledge, services, and skills translates to better meeting and exceeding patient expectations for the treatment experience and results!

Dr. Brown has resided in Silver Spring and Laurel for over 30 years. She and her wonderful husband, Dr. Patrick Bryant, who is a dentist in Laurel, have two exceptional daughters, Denese and Lawren, and a furbaby, Chase.

Family time is Dr. Browns priority. Shes a dance mom, with both daughters involved in competitive dancing since a young age and active in their school dance teams. The family also enjoys traveling and exploring locally, nationally, and internationally.

Being part of her community, and working to strengthen it for the betterment of all, is central to Dr. Browns beliefs. She loves volunteering, whether collecting goods and items for distribution or serving in administration roles at her daughters schools.

Being a positive role model to her daughters, neighbors, and patients is an important aspect of who Dr. Brown is: showing that one can have a dynamic career, be an involved parent, and active in the community!

  • Following the initial exam, Dr. Brown will create your unique treatment plan, determining what techniques will work best for your situation. She will walk you through the diagnosis and then the plan, explaining what is happening in your mouth and how treatment will correct issues. She will also review treatment options, present all financial information, and answer your questions. It's important youre fully informed and able to make knowledgeable decisions: after all, this is your smile!
  • You will see Dr. Brown at each of your visits, as she closely monitors and guides your treatment. She and our team will provide lots of encouragement and support, plenty of education, and likely share a joke or two, too!
  • We will be at your side throughout treatment and will join in the celebration the day treatment is complete and your new smile is revealed: weve accomplished so much by working together and were thrilled you now have the incredible smile you deserve!
  • For most people, achieving a healthy, beautiful smile is the reason for receiving orthodontic care. If you're self-conscious about your smile, correcting your concerns with braces will greatly improve the way you look and feel.

When your treatment is complete, you will have the smile you've always dreamed of and the confidence to show it off! We also want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your entire orthodontic experience, and our practice is dedicated to making sure that you receive the quality care you deserve.

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.

Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!

Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.

We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive orthodontic care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding orthodontic experience every time you visit our practice.

I work one-on-one with our new patients and parents and address their concerns, assist them in finding solutions and explain the process of orthodontic treatment. If you have any questions about life with braces, I can answer your questions with accuracy. I will assist you in finding affordable treatment solutions utilizing Care Credit and Lending Club and help you navigate the world of insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, and Health Savings Accounts. I also go out to doctors offices, schools, and clubs to promote and explain available orthodontic solutions to everyday dental concerns.

I apply my clinical chairside training and knowledge towards helping people achieve beautiful smiles, giving them happiness and confidence as their reward! I assist everyone... the patients, the doctor, and my fellow team members. I am patient, skilled clinically, and an educator. My efforts and contributions make patients feel happy and welcomed which helps anyone grow more comfortable with treatment! Great oral hygiene is essential to a great outcome and smile so I will help you and your referring doctors office give you the smile you have always wanted.

I am an integral part of the team and my primary responsibility is to maintain a clean, sterilized, and neat work environment to assure your safety. Its my job to help the practice run smoothly clinically. We value your time and strive to keep your wait for services to a minimum! I can also review your brushing and flossing techniques with you if we see you are having difficulties maintaining proper oral hygiene.
