Since early childhood she looked up to her mother and her passion for her dentistry career. The dedication, compassion and care that her mother had for her patients had a profound effect on Dr. Chang and her older sister who also became a Dentist specializing in Orthodontist. Both, her mother and sister, practice dentistry in Peru where they enjoy improving the oral health of their patients with a dedicated care.
It was in Lima that Dr. Chang attended Dental School at Cayetano Heredia University and received her Summa Cum Laude Doctorate in Dental Surgery as one of the top five students of her class. She then completed advance clinical and theoretical training in Dental Prosthetics at the OHU University School of Dentistry in Fukushima, Japan. Upon returning to Peru, she received her Diploma in Pediatric Dentistry in 2000 and stayed at the university as an Associate Faculty teaching students how to deliver an outstanding dental care with ethical and professional manner.
From 2009 to 2019, Dr. Chang worked as an Associate Dentist in Arlington, VA. And now, with great experience and know-how she has entered a new chapter by starting her own practice, SMILE CONCEPT, where she focuses on family and cosmetic dentistry with a personalized and gentle care, building bonded relationships with her patients as her mother once taught her.

Dr. Chang and Carla are wonderful!! I have a slight fear when it comes to dental work, but Dr. Chang really made it a comfortable and painless visitation for me. I totally would recommend Smile Concept to anyone I'd know.

Great 1st time experience here for pediatric dental for my 3 year old. Both front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. Jennice was very nice and nurse assistant was super catering and allowed my daughter to ease into her visit by letting her watch Netflix and get familiar with dental chair. Very clean space and Dr Chang was super sweet and nice. My daughter was scared and nervous but they did a fluoride treatment and ended with lollipop and toy. Highly recommend for kids and babies.

Overall not good. Would give 0/5 if I could. Very rough, even after I complained and said my mouth is sensitive to X-rays and requested a smaller film. I was actually told to be "less aggressive" and to calm down. I was not being aggressive, I was indicating that I was in pain. Very insensitive to patient needs, dentist tried to force my jaws to close more to take X-rays.

From the minute you step in, to when you leave, you truly feel cared for. The staff is absolutely wonderful. The assistant, Carla, is kind and very attentive. I enjoyed my experience with her. Dr. Chang is a true gem. She's personable, patient and kind. She explained everything thoroughly which made me feel valued. Overall, the experience is more than I could have hoped for. I definitely recommend Dr. Chang to all.

Everyone is so nice and welcoming at Smile Concept. From Nancy at the reception desk, to Carla, Dental Assistant, to Dr. Chang, my experience is always wonderful! I feel at home and at ease! I have been on dentist since i was 7 years old, 40 years interacting with dentist including orthodontist in different countries taught me a lot. After trying several professionals in the field, I was lucky enough to find Dr Monica Chang. Her hands are just incredibly precise. I went to smile concept for a check up! Right away I could tell the front desk was very welcoming and friendly, then I was sat in the back, and the dental assistant was also very friendly and made sure I was comfortable at all times, she let me listen to music. Then explained their routine, the dental assistant was very delicate with me, then the doctor came in. She was very very kind, she explained in detail my treatment and did a wonderful job with my dental cleaning. I have to say this is most definitely one of the best experiences I've ever had a dental office!! I definitely recommend this place!

One of the most amazing experiences ever. I have never been to a dentist office that has been so professional. Dr. Chang is amazing and a very talented Professional. I didn't feel any pain during my cleaning procedure. Took her time getting to know your issue and addresses it with you very clearly. Felt very confident with my treatment plan and I know I'll get my teeth fixed in know time with her being my new primary dentist! She's made my phobia from the dentist go away

I've visited many dentists in my past, but I have to say that Smile Concept is the best one I've been to by far. Dr. Monica Chang and her staff are the nicest and friendliest people I have met in the industry. They do their best to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Before any of the procedures, the treatments are explained to you in a very easy-to-understand way, along with the costs associated. As for the procedures, I honestly didn't feel it at all and before I knew it, she was finished! I didn't think I'd ever say this, but I'm excited for the next visit to my dentist :)
