As an undergraduate at Villanova University, Pennsylvania, he was accepted into the extremely competitive Pre-Professional Honors Program that combined his undergraduate studies with his graduate dental program. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003. His pediatric dental training was completed at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York, where he was Chief Resident during his senior year. He completed his studies and received his Specialty Certification in Pedodontics in 2005.
Dr. Basilicato is an active and involved member of the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, the Passaic County Dental Society, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He served as vice-president of the PCDS in 2013, and president in 2014. He was Valedictorian at DePaul High School, Wayne, NJ, a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the Medical/Dental Honor Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Villanova University in 2000.
Dr. Basilicato is a long time resident of Wayne, where he lives with his wife Jeanette and his son Anthony. He enjoys playing the piano and attending concerts at the New York Philharmonic. He is an active amateur radio operator, as well as an avid reader of both classic and contemporary fiction.

Each child is unique and we are always looking for new ways to make their visit easy, pleasant and informative. We want to use the small amount of time we have getting to know what's special about your child, and to develop a personal connection with them. If we are not providing treatment, we are educating. And if we are not educating, we are chatting, happy to share a part of our day with you. We have hand puzzles, games and books for anxious patients, but its our patience with, and passion for kids that keeps everyone happy.
Happiness is contagious and patient referrals are 80% of the New Patients in our practice. Our patients are not shy about telling their friends and family about our care and level of service, and we are most appreciative. We believe that all children deserve to be treated in a warm and positive environment. It's simple, a little old fashioned, and it's what sets us apart.

Dentist is great but they nickel and dime you for every cent and perform procedures not covered by insurance on my adult teen children without finding out if it's covered first

I am so impressed with everyone who works at Smile Care. My 3 year old had a great experience and could not wait to show everyone his teeth. He also asked when he could see Dr. Joe again on our way home! What kid likes going to the dentist? Dr. Joe is really awesome, friendly, kind, patient and all around a great dentist. I highly recommend bringing your child here. Even if it is miles away from your home!

My 2 year old had her first dentist appointment today. The staff and Dr. Basilicato were all very friendly and the visit was a breeze. They take the time to explain things if you have any questions. My older daughter loves coming here too. Highly recommend for small children!
