Because orthodontic changes are a gradual process, we have the time necessary to really get to know each person we care for. Dr. K is devoted to spending time with each patient. While he could turn some care over to his assistants, he prefers to make and adjust the arch wires himself. Hes a hands-on orthodontist and believes in delivering personal service to each person. This also allows him to check in with you and make sure that youre happy with how everythings progressing and to talk with you about how well treatment is going.
Our blend of professional care and personalized attention, along with a warm and inviting atmosphere thats filled with happy people, means our patients love to visit us. Many of our younger patients come bursting through the doors eager to tell us the latest news about their adventures, successes in the classroom or on the sports field, or their plans for an upcoming vacation. We love being around such vitality.
Dr. Yoram Kohanzadeh is a double graduate of the University of California in Los Angeles. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree of Science in Psychbiology and received a doctorate of dental surgery from the UCLA school of Dentistry.
Dr. K as he is known by most, obtained his certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. There he studied many different styles of Orthodontics and was the Craniofacial resident. Also while practicing in New Jersey and New York he taught and lectured at UMDNJ and Montfiore.
The doctor is trilingual, speaking English, Spanish, and Farsi fluently as he finds it very important to be able to communicate directly with his patients and parents himself. He understands that improving your smile is a personal journey and he tailors each treatment to each patients specific needs in order to help them achieve the smile and self confidence they have always wanted.
Away from the office Dr.K stays actively involved in many of the Orthodontic societies such as the AAO (American Association of Orthodontists), the PCSO (Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists), and the CAO Group. He also loves to give back to those in need when he can. Whether it be volunteering internationally, providing dental care to those who otherwise would be without it or supporting local programs such as 'Give Kids a Smile Day' where he goes to local schools with other specialists and dentists to provide dental care and improve awareness among adolescence.
During his down time he has many hobbies to keep him busy. He enjoys hiking, cooking, cars and tech, and he even has a comic book collection from back when he was in braces! Dr. K also loves to hear all about the interests and hobbies of his patients, so tell him about all of the things that you love to do!

Dr. K did an amazing job with my teeth and after having my braces off for a few years now, my teeth are still very straight and look great. The staff is very helpful and nice. Would 100% recommend.

Our family loves this office. We are always greeted with a smile by Liza and Dr K always has a great sense of humor and is very good at explaining each step of the process to me and my children. I currently have two children in braces. His entire staff is very helpful and always make my children feel comfortable.

For years I wanted to fix my bottom teeth and finally came across Danette who introduced me to Dr. K. The experience has been amazing. Both of them sat down with me to explain how they could fix my teeth and I am now the proud owner of new braces. In nine months, I will have straight teeth. They made the process so easy.

Getting my braces done at Dr. K's was one of the best things to happen in 2020/2021! The staff are the best people and take amazing care of you, starting from the beginning of my care with Janette scheduling me, and then every session with Shante or Dr. K. They're wonderful and are always happy to answer any questions/concerns I have. If you want the best orthodontic care, you want Smile by Dr. K.

So far I came in for a few consultations and I am impressed on how the staff is so knowledgeable, compassionate and open minded on hearing your concerns and they advise the best options in order for you to achieve what you want. Especially Lisa, she was super hospitable and provided answers to all my questions with thorough understanding. Cant wait to get my treatment started here! Smile by Dr. K is the best!! Not many kids look forward to going to the orthodontist, but I'm always excited when I have an appointment as I know I will be treated with kindness. My favorite part is getting greeted by Liza at the front desk and hearing her contagious laugh. I highly recommend this place!

So far so good! I'm an adult patient and am so far pleased with my choice. Everyone in the office has been incredibly kind and cheerful, whether I'm making an appointment, getting things adjusted, or having exams. Dr. K also has a ton of knowledge about orthodontics and how it relates to everything else in the head, so it's really interesting to talk with him. I'm confident that if I have questions he'll be able to help me, and that everyone in the office is invested in my good health (and teeth!).

Best orthodontist ever. Currently in the expander stage of my inbrace process and I can see my cheekbones are so much more prominent! It is amazing to find a dental place that doesn't give me anxiety to come back to. I am excited for my smile to be at its best! Would not trust anyone else with my teeth! <3

Great service. Was looking for some place close and found this with great ratings. Called and scheduled an appointment and ended up getting moved up sooner because there was an opening. Lisa was a fantastic help and couldn't have done it without her. Explained it was urgent that i got looked at and she made it happen asap. Loved the experience and the team. This is, BY FAR, the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. K and his team are so down-to-earth and genuinely kind people! Dr. K and his approach to dental care reassured me that I was going to see the results I wanted. I have been unhappy with my smile for so long and Dr. K gave me the sense of relief I needed. Dr. K is the absolute best orthodontist, I cannot stop smiling! He gave me a more confident smile and my bite has improved so much that I've had close people ask if I got lip fillers, haha. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Dr. K is so kind and patient with me knowing that I'm nervous when it comes to working on my teeth. My son is almost done with his treatment, and even though his braces aren't off just yet, we are already thrilled with his results. I highly recommend Dr. K .

Dr. K (and Danette, Lisa, and Shauntae) and THE BEST. They are so kind and supportive though the whole process. The reason I chose Dr. K and team to begin with is because they could actually explain why my bite was off after having worn my retainer every night for years. They made the process of having orthodontic appliances as an adult as fast and painless as they could. They use cutting edge tech and treat you like a person, not just another number. Shauntae, Danette, and Lisa are friendly and efficient. I would and do recommend Dr. K and the team to anyone in the Thousand Oaks or San Fernando Valley (honestly, they are worth an even further drive). For adults or kids, give Dr. K a call.
