for years my 3 kiddos loved going to their dental appts with dr Ray but recently they were devastated to learn that she no longer accepts their dental ins Capitol dental & ODS and wont even keep them even if they change ins :( we are now looking for a new pediatric dentist which is not easy on my kids and more especially since my oldest had a traumatizing dental experience with a gentle dentle dentist before going to dr ray and so she had finally felt relief with Dr Ray and the techs there but Rachel at her office suggested I have my oldest go to a adult dentist since she is older now which was not ok with me for her to suggest that since she is still a child and she doesnt know that my oldest never got to really experience that painfree and caring welcoming pediatric dental care before seeing dr Ray so I just wanted her to keep that kind of pediatric care until she no longer qualified for it and keep all 3 of my kiddos together with the same dentist.

The general dental treatment for our son was good which is why they are getting two stars. The treatment coordinator for Dr.Ray is dense and extremely unpleasant to have meaningful conversations with for the simplest of things. Our most recent conversation was regarding tooth pain and I sat on the phone for 40 minutes listening to her talk in circles with no results. Shortly after the call we received a letter indicating they were discontinuing our sons care. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone without some front office change.

Really good dental care however, they have very poor billing practices, to say the least. To my surprise, I was charged an absurd amount for a 2 minute evaluation on my child's teeth to determine if they needed sealants. When I called their office, to ask for an explanation, they told me that upon signing consent forms, it gives them complete authority to charge whatever the insurance does not cover. It is common knowledge that Prior to performing services, it is standard practice to consult with the patient on how much a dental procedure or evaluation is going to cost beforehand. I do not appreciate the lack of their forthcoming nature. This dental office does not have ethical billing policies & practices. Therefore, I will no longer be bringing my children here for their dental care.

Maybe since surprise billing is illegal now it might be different, but surprise billing is an understatement in this case. We were quoted for some pediatric dental work through at a surgery center since he was only five and they quoted us about $2,200 and end up costing over $4,000. It wasn't even that they found surprise issues, two of the bills we received we weren't even told that would exist. It's absolutely nuts. On top of it they don't even take care credit FYI, because apparently is not a good deal for the patients. Which I think is insulting in itself to imply that patients can't decide that for themselves. Go at your own risk! Hey if you have lots of money then it won't matter right?

I've been taking my child to Dr. Tricia Ray since she was 2 and every experience has been fantastic! Granted, she hasn't had any cavities so I can't speak to that type of experience. She loves all the stops to get prizes along the way and seeing all of the fun decor inside. Even wears her Smile After Smile sunglasses around town. The staff there are very engaging and patient and interact with children incredibly well. We had a billing issue once but it was taken care of right away - the business office is very responsive and kind. I've recommended this practice to friends multiple times and they all say the same thing - it's a wonderful place to take your kid to the dentist!
