Dr. Darin KotilAs a Nebraska native, Dr. Darin Kotil grew up in David City, a small farming community, 60 miles west of Omaha. Dr. Kotil attended Midland Lutheran College (now Midland University) earning scholarships in both football and golf. He graduated from Midland with a Bachelor of Science degree. Dr. Kotil was accepted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1995.
Following dental school Dr. Kotil moved to Austin, Texas, to start a private practice. It was there that he realized that pediatric dentistry was his passion and where he could make his biggest impact. Soon after, Dr. Kotil moved back to Omaha and completed his post doctorate training in Pediatric Dentistry at UNMC, where he was elected Chief Resident.
With over 20 years experience Dr. Kotil continues to serve the greater Omaha and surrounding communities. Dr. Kotil strives to provide a fun, friendly, comfortable dental environment so even the most anxious patient will feel at ease. A big smile and a positive attitude can shape your childs dental experience for the rest of his or her life.
Dr. Kotil lives in Valley, Nebraska, with his four children. Following his children's active schedule is number one on Dr. Kotils agenda, but when he does have free time he enjoys being outdoors while boating, fishing and traveling.

I had to start bringing my son here after being sent away by a different dentist and I love Smile Academy! Dr. Kotil does great and the staff are friendly. There was one visit my son was in the back sitting alone for a long time, but he was fine and does better without me there. I had moved north and live farther away and now make a longer trip to still take my child here. They take great care of him!

Dr. Kotil and his staff are always friendly. They make sure they get a hold of us for reminders about appointments and they take very good care of my children when we visit.

We've been going here for probably close to eight years now and things had been fine, the kids like the dentist and hygienists, but our dental insurance changed recently and five times we've called and told them to stop billing the old insurance, and they keep doing it anyway. We gave them the new insurance info when they had their appointment, and every time we call we ask them to update it, and they haven't updated it yet. It's taking months to get sorted out and it doesn't matter how nice the dentist is, if it's an administrative nightmare it's not worth taking your kids.

Do not attend the dental facility. We had an appointment for a procedure this morning, this is not the first time they (my child) had to receive a procedure. Unable to locate the pamphlet that had the correct address we proceed to go to the previous hospital unknowingly it was the wrong place. I tried contacting someone and no response, once someone from the facility did contact and explain we were at the wrong location the receptionist proceed to disrespect and antagonize me all because I went to the wrong address. When I requested to speak with a supervisor the receptionist then proceeded to threaten to report me to my insurance company, that is unacceptable behavior over an everyday mistake if you would like to be mistreated then bring you kids to Smile Academy.

This place is a joke! I literally took my daughter in for the first appointment and they took x rays and told us to come back for the procedure tomorrow. We come back and then they tell me I can't go back with my daughter who is 12 for her procedure. I made one statement that I don't like that! Then, they came out and said something to me 3 times and I said each time it is fine I just don't like it because she's 12 and never had a procedure before. They then brought her out and refused to do the procedure when I already told them it was fine 3 times prior to that! They just wasted 2 days of my time and of my daughters time since she had to leave school early twice for these appointments! I will be calling the BBB! I will also be calling Medicaid to let them know what happened and to dispute the charges for the x rays since they refused service to us!

Smile Academy is an excellent choice for pediatric dentistry. Dr. Kotil is great with our toddler and we feel very comfortable that our son is getting the best dental care. His staff is awesome - organized, warm, attentive and very kid friendly. We would highly recommend Smile Academy!

Great experience! I have two girls. One is 3 and the other is 6 months. Dr. K and staff were patient and kind! My three year old loved watching tv (on the ceiling) while getting her teeth cleaned! She hasn't stopped talking about it since we got home! Lol Thanks for making this a fun experience instead of a scary one for my littles. I always enjoyed going to the dentist growing up and was hoping it would be a good everyone for them too. Thanks! Very clean and kids friendly! Video games and toys in lobby and tv in the cleaning chair! Love it!

Dr. Kotil and his staff did a wonderful job!!!!!! The staff was very friendly and had a huge smile on their face!!!!!! Whenever I walk in they are always quick to greet me and know me by name!!!! I always feel welcome whenever I walk into their office. Best dentis I have ever gone too!!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!

LOVE Dr. Kotil and crew! I had a terrible experience with my childhood dentist. When my son was born I was determined to find a dentist my son would be comfortable with. So happy we found the Smile Academy through recommendations of another dentist. We have been going for 13 years and now we have to spread out wings on to an adult dentist. I hope we can continue on without the worries we never had with Kotil! I so appreciate the care and kindness over the years!

The staff was really rude I missed my sisters appointment due to sickness and Car trouble and the staff RHONDA told me they were going to call Cps on Me for Child Neglect , When I called back to get information on the hospital she continued to hang up in my Face , I would NOT BRING MY CHILDREN HERE
