Dr. Danette Smart has set the standard of excellent orthodontic care for over a decade. She began by earning her undergraduate degree at University of Toronto and went on to complete her dental education at Howard University, College of Dentistry. She then completed a general practice residency at Montefiore Hospital in New York. She went on to complete specialized training and earned a master's degree in orthodontics at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Dr. Smart continuously improves her training as an active member in many leading dental and orthodontic organizations, including the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists and the North Carolina Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Smart loves serving her community through her work as an ordained Presbyterian minister. She enjoys running and yoga. Dr. Smart prides herself on running a patient-focused practice. She is passionate about creating a beautiful smile while getting to know each of her patients.

My oldest son was her fourth patient he was 11 and now he's 38. All three of my children have been blessed to receive great care from Dr Smart even advising my 27 year old daughter on what to do when she had some problems in California while living there and immediately saw her when she returned to Charlotte. I now have a step grandson who is receiving care .Thank you Dr Smart and your wonderful staff!
