Shay attended Illinois Central College from 2014-2019 where she earned an Associate's degree in Applied Science of Dental Hygiene as well as an Associate's degree in Science for Secondary Education. She has specialized training in laser bacterial reduction, local anesthetic, and in-house whitening. Her favorite part about her job is making patients smile!
In her free time, Shay enjoys cooking, baking, and spending time with family and friends. She is currently engaged to her fiance Chris. Together they share a daughter Maisie, two cats, and a dog. They are also expecting twins this coming October!

We know that dental technology plays a big role in the quality of your care, which is why we are always seeking to add new technology to our practice. We already have digital x-rays, lasers, iPads, paperless charting and E4D same-day crown technology, and we will continue to invest so we can provide you with the most advanced care possible.
There are preventative steps you can take to avert some of these issues, such as brushing and flossing regularly to avoid severe mouth pain. But there are also unforeseen accidents that necessitate an emergency exam.

Keri, was wonderful at cleaning my teeth, checking for areas that need extra care. The staff at the front were also very invested in making sure all my needs were met.

Had to have some complicated dental work done and came to this practice on a recommendation. I've worked with Jen and Dr. Horst. Jen has been outstanding. She has been very kind, friendly, patient, and always attentive to my comfort. In addition to having a calm, relaxed bedside manner and being highly knowledgeable, Dr. Horst is exceptionally skilled technically and highly attentive to detail. I'm fortunate to have him as my dentist. The office staff is also excellent. They all have been friendly, informative, and highly responsive. I'm very pleased that I followed the recommendation and came to this practice and recommend them highly myself. They're terrific!

That was the best dentist appointment I've ever had. For the first time ever I was told that my rough teeth interact with food differently because they catch a lot more because of their structure. I was also shown by Keri how to floss instead of just told to floss. She educated me on why floss would get stuck in certain areas. She was gentle, kind, thorough. Seriously the best appointment I've ever had.

First time Dr. Horst took care of a dental issue since Dr. Moon retired. He is doing a redo on a crown that was old and disintegrating in my mouth. Excellent removal of the old crown. New crown in a couple of weeks.

Needed a local dentist for a toothache after a move. Got me in next day! Didn't make me come back after exam and fixed tooth! Professional staff, average pricing and no upselling unneeded services. Already scheduled a cleaning. A+ service

I HATED GOING TO THE DENTIST. BUT, at 56 years of age, I have never felt more comfortable at a dental clinic. From the time I was greeted to the time I left-everyone was so professional but kind. There was a warmth there that's hard to find anywhere these days. Before starting with Smalltpwn Dental? I went to the same office for 30 years. It became so big and, unfortunately, they forgot that patients are individuals with feelings and fears. I decided to give Smalltown Dental a try and I'm so glad I did! Keri, the hygienist, was very thorough and explained as she went along what she was seeing and what I needed in order to help my very angry gums! They have been "angry" and tender for years. Keri gave me advice and some things to try to help make my gums happy again. I took her advice and in one week am seeing a big difference! Jen, the assistant, was very professional, genuine and kind as well. Dr. Horst was very skillful and efficient and completed what was necessary to prepare my tooth for a crown. He was wonderful about sharing with me what would be happening during the process. He treated me like a friend. Jen was able to then finish up with me by making my temporary crown and explaining how to treat it for the next few weeks until the permanent crown comes in. All of this and I was done in an HOUR!!!!! When Dr. Horst began my procedure, he never left until it was done. I was in shock as my former dentist was seeing other patients during breaks in my procedure. I would have been in the dentist's office for 3-4 hours! I love Smalltown Dental! I have found a new dental home!!!!! My entire family will be changing to Smalltown Dental Willow Knolls. It was worth the extra hour drive!

I had a great experience at Dr Moon's! Sheila did an excellent job cleaningmy teeth and Dr Moon was very thorough with his exam. Barb was also very pleasant at the reception desk.

Seemed to have a lot of trouble with computer and X-ray. Had to keep logging in. Heard them say it crashed the day before. I heard the same comments from another patient as well. Need to fix it!

My experience at Small-town Dental went very well. I was able to use the same hygienist - very professional and friendly. She worked with new staff and new equipment. They took time to address any questions i had. My dentist merged with Smalltown Dental and I received the same great service that I was used to receiving.
