The TMJs are the joints connecting the jaw to the skull. They allow your mouth to open, close, and move from side to side. TMJ disorder refers to any problems with the joint itself, or with the surrounding muscles and ligaments. TMJ disorder can be caused by a number of factors, including:

At Four Seasons Dental, we offer occlusal mouth guards, one of the most effective treatment options for TMJ disorder. Patients are instructed to wear their customized mouth guards, or splints, over their teeth for a pre-determined period of time that is based on their symptoms and the severity of their condition. Some patients may need to wear their splints 24 hours a day, while others may only need to wear them at night. Stabilization splints can prevent patients from clenching or grinding their teeth, while repositioning splints can actually move the jaw forward, relaxing ligaments and jaw muscles and improving a patients bite.

Since some treatment options for sleep apnea are similar to those for TMJ disorder, Dr. Sluser also treats mild to moderate cases of this sleep disorder. Sleep apnea occurs when a person stops breathing during sleep, typically because the tongue and throat muscles fall against the back of the throat, blocking the airway. The repeated interruptions throughout the night prevent patients from achieving the deepest and most restful stages of sleep. The most common symptom is snoring.

To determine whether you are suffering from sleep apnea, Dr. Sluser can refer you to a specialist who can conduct a sleep study. If the specialist determines that you have mild to moderate sleep apnea, Dr. Sluser may prescribe a mouthpiece to be worn at night. This device can push the jaw slightly forward, keeping the airways open so you can achieve restful sleep.

If you suffer from symptoms of TMJ disorder or sleep apnea, call Four Seasons Dental today. Dr. Sluser is ready to answer your questions, help you with any necessary referrals, and provide you with conservative, effective treatment options.

If you are bothered bycrooked or misaligned teeth, you should know that advancements in the field of orthodontics are making treatment more efficient, more comfortable, and more subtle than ever before. Four Seasons Dental offers Invisalign at our Pittsburgh dental practice, a treatment option that uses clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth quickly and effectively. The Invisalign treatment plan is tailored to meet the needs and concerns of each patient, and Dr. Timothy Sluser will work closely with you to ensure you can achieve a straighter, more attractive smile that also offers oral health benefits.

This orthodontic option is effective in treating a wide range of dental issues, including overbites, underbites, crossbites, gapped teeth, and crowded teeth. However, not everyone is a good candidate for Invisalign. Patients who require a significant amount of correction to their bite, for example, may be better candidates for traditional braces, which we also offer at our practice. Dr. Sluser provides highly personalized service and will discuss your condition and treatment goals with you to determine the best treatment.

If Dr. Sluser determines you are a good candidate for Invisalign treatment, he will make detailed impressions of your teeth. These impressions will be sent to an Invisalign lab, where technicians will create a customized series of clear, removable aligner trays, shaped similarly to the trays used duringteeth whitening. Once you receive your aligners, you will wear them daily for nine to fifteen months. The aligners should be worn at least 22 hours a day, but they can be removed while you are eating, or brushing and flossing. Every two weeks, you will switch to the next aligner in the series. Over the course of your treatment, the aligners will gently shift your teeth into their new positions.

Todays teenagers lead busy lives and participate in a variety of sports and activities that can be hindered by wearing traditional braces. For these reasons, Invisalign Teen is the treatment of choice for many teenagers and their parents. Invisalign requires fewer visits to the dentists office than traditional braces, and the product comes

Dr. Sluser is also proud to offer the latest development in Invisalign technology, Invisalign Express. Invisalign Expressis preferred by many patients who have minor spacing or crowding issues. It works similarly to traditional Invisalign treatment, but the accelerated process can typically be completed in as little as ten weeks.

DO NOT GO HERE!! My daughter had her first ever dentist appointment, then they rescheduled me for 2 weeks later. Went for that appointment and they didn't have her in the system. definitely switching this is ridiculous and not professional at all.

I called this office due to my crown falling off causing swelling and bleeding. I left a voicemail. They called me back the next day and said even though they accepted my dental insurance, the insurance company was a "slow pay", then I was told in a rather snarky manner that this is not a reason for emergency care. Apparently this office does not follow ADA recommendations since it IS considered a reason for urgent care!!

DO NOT COME HERE!! Horrible and unprofessional!!!! A disgrace to work with. They do not return phone calls. And we had to get a court order to obtain records to transfer orthodontics. They give a negative experience for all.

They took me in same-day for an emergency. I waited over an hour only to have the dentist come out and start talking about my fake emergency - my face was swollen!! - until I announced that I had been waiting over an hour and didn't want to be rude when they got me in same-day. Then they finally pulled my tooth and I was on my way. Not professional at all, but they do good work.

WARNING DO NOT GO HERE These people are negligent, irresponsible and put my life/health in danger Since letting this chop shop work on me I ended up with STREP B trapped under two very poorly done root canals. So, for a little over 6yrs I have had all kinds of terrible medical issues. Went through years of testing to find out what was constantly making me sick. Had MRIs, CTs, full blood work, a labroscopic surgery, everything you can think of to try to diagnose the problem. Eventually found that I had a strep B soft tissue Infection in the right side of my face. Had to have both root canals done by this facility removed, there was infection sealed up under the root canals. Go to the dental school, it's cheap & students are actually more competent than this place. There's no reason that I should have been living in pain & misery due to negligent/shoddy work. I had them removed today, I went from not being able to talk due to pain to feeling 1000% better. The smell when they pulled the Caps of was absolutely disgusting. They also failed TWICE at making a partial that fit my mouth. But they were happy to bill my insurance for their bad work. Save your $$$ and yourself a lot of pain/misery DO NOT GO HERE

DO NOT GO HERE! CAUTION CAUTION! Not only were they rude, but gave ignorance a new name. Used dirty instruments that gave me infections. Went to another dentist to get their mistakes fixed. The dr. At sliders office Had to look up antibiotics, the assistant was vulgar and very inappropriate. If I could give negative stars I would. Not only did they make the problem worse but the new dentist I see literally says to me "what a butcher job" they gave me an infection horrible scarring and wore no gloves and tried to reach in my mouth bare handed. Parents please take yourselves and especially your children somewhere else ! I was totally disgusted at every aspect of this place. ZERO STARS!

The receptionist is awful!!! She is rude, disrespectful, doesn't know what she's doing with insurance billing, and likes to hang up on you when you call. The rest of the staff is reasonably nice, but not the best. They started a root canal on my boyfriend about 6 months ago and said they had to wait for something to come in to finish it. They have yet to let us know if it has come in and they keep billing him more and more money! Ridiculous. Horrible customer service. I would never recommend to anyone.

Went in today to have a cap put on a molar that had a root canal done.. Found out they changed the appointment on me, and never made an attempt to leave me a voicemail or call my house. My mom and I were at doctor appointments all day yesterday. so obviously both phones were on vibrate/silent or do not disturb mode. And the one receptionist acts like it's my fault.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Sluser for many years now for cleanings, orthodontics and other issues that have arisen. I have had nothing but good experiences with him and his work has always been great. I typically go to the New Kensington office. For those complaining about waiting.....waiting typically means you are seeing a popular Doctor who is busy. To me that is a good thing! Anyway, I highly recommend Dr. Sluser and Dr. Dunn
