Dr. Brian J. Jackson is a native of Utica, New York and graduated from Utica College with a B.S. degree in biology, Cum Laude. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at SUNY/Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Jackson completed post-graduate training at St.Lukes Memorial Hospital Centers General Practice Residency Program. He completed his formal oral implantology training at New York University, School of Dentistry. In 1999, Dr. Jackson was awarded the 5th District Dental Society young Dentist Excellence Award encompassing dentists in eight counties including Utica and Syracuse. This award is given to an individual for excellence in community service, dental society activities and patient care. Dr. Jackson is aDiplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID). The ABOI/ID was chartered in 1968 to measure the practitioners in depth knowledge, proficiency, skills and experience required for comprehensive, safe and effective oral implant care for the public. The ABOI/IDDiplomate designation symbolizes the highest level of competence in implant dentistry..

Established in 1951, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) is the worlds oldest professional organization dedicated to the advancement of oral implantology. The AAID maintains a standardized peer-reviewed examination process granting the status of Fellow following successful written and oral examinations. Dr. Jackson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID). Diplomates and Fellows have been certified by their peers and have met national standards of education and practice in oral implantology.

Dr. Jackson has presented oral implantology lectures to various groups locally, as well as, at the 2002 annual global conference for the AAID in Los Angeles, CA, and the 54th Annual Meeting in New York City in 2004. The topic that Dr. Jackson presented was Occlusal Considerations for Implant Supported Prosthesis. In 2007, Dr. Jackson lectured inMumbai, Indiaas part of a conference titledEnriching Talent with Innovationssponsored by the India International Dental Congress, New York University and the AAID. In 2013, Dr. Jackson lectured in Philadelphia as part of a conference dedicated to treatment of the atrophic patient. His presentation was titled: Treatment Plan Consideration and Reconstruction of the Posterior Maxilla. In 2014, Dr. Jackson presented an all day lecture titled: Treatment of the Edentulous Patient: The Synergy of Conventional and Small Diameter Implants at the Southern Illinois Dental Society Annual Meeting. In addition, he has joined the faculty of the India, Las Vegas and New York Maxicourse in Oral Implantology.

Dr. Jackson is a senior opinion leader and lecturer for the dental division of 3M ESPE. He was the lead author in the development of the MDI Expanded Indications Training Seminar protocol as well as a co-author in the Mini Dental Implant certification program for 3M ESPE. Dr. Jackson developed the programs didactic content, and insight for long term success of mini dental implants through his case presentations.

Dr. Jackson is an attending staff dentist for Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare General Practice Residency Program. He is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and a Fellow- American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID).

In 2013, Dr. Jackson was granted the distinction of Honored Fellow at the AAID annual meeting in Washington, D.C. The Honored Fellow award has been granted to less than 1% of the membership of the AAID. The award honors individuals for their service, clinical, and educational contributions.

Although Dr. Jackson has a strong interest in Dental Implants, he is committed to his General Dentistry practice focusing on restorative (Fillings), cosmetics, extractions, and all aspects of General Dentistry.

CNY Study Club The CNY Implant Study Club is affiliated with the AAID. The Club meets three times a year in the evening to discuss topics related to implant dentistry. The Club is open to general dentists, specialists, laboratory technicians, dental hygienists, dental assistants and related team members.

Dr. Ronald Goldstone 55 Memorial Scholarship Fund This scholarship was established by Utica College trustee Brian J. Jackson 85 D.D.S. along with family and friends, in memory of former Utica College Foundation Board member Dr. Ronald J. Goldstone 55. It is awarded to a full time student entering his or her junior or senior year who demonstrates a strong professional commitment and a GPA of 3.0 or greater, majoring in pre-dental studies. The Pre-Professional Health Committee on the basis of the above mentioned academics and ethical criteria shall select from the candidates recommended by the Office of Financial Aid.

Dr. Mark Slavin is a native of Utica, New York who obtained his undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude from Union College, his doctorate from Georgetown University and his General Practice Residency certificate from St. Josephs Hospital in Syracuse. A certificate in the diagnosis and treatment of Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction was obtained from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Sleep Apneasufferers benefit from Dr.Slavins expertise in treatment of this common, often undiagnosed medical condition. Sleep Apnea involves repeated cessation of breathing during sleep and can lead to very serious cardiovascular, GI and psycho-social consequences. Symptoms are often limited to snoring and excessive day-time sleepiness. Once diagnosed at a sleep center, implementation of a Continuous Positive Air Pressure (CPAP) machine is often recommended. Though CPAP machines are entirely effective, many individuals are unwilling to initiate CPAP therapy or find it uncomfortable, cumbersome or inconvenient. For these patients, treatment with an oral appliance has been shown to be an easily tolerated, effective alternative.

Dr. Charles Burns is a native of Central New York and currently lives in Utica with his wife, Linda. They have two sons, Curt and Alan. Curt resides in Utica with his fiance, Nikki; and Alan and his wife, Kelly, live in California. Dr. and Linda enjoy spending time with their four grandchildren, Dante, Chloe, Charlie, and Sawyer.

Dr. Burns education began with an Associates Degree in Applied Science from Mohawk Valley Community College. He then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree from Utica College with a dual major in Bio Chemistry and Psychology, graduating with honors. His formal Dental Education was received at New York University.

During his senior year at NYU, Dr. Burns was selected to participate in the Honors Prosthodontic Program, which allowed him to perform State of the Art procedures and to participate in many research projects. He was also selected for the Honors Treatment Module, which is bestowed on the top 20 students of the class. After graduation, Dr. Burns participated in a one year General Practice Residency at the Faxton-St. Lukes campus in Utica.

As an attending Dentist for 15 years and past Chairman of the Dental Residency Program, he donates his time and expertise teaching new Doctors on subjects such as Endodontics, TMJ disorders, Sleep Apnea, Forensic Dentistry, and Craniofacial Pain Management. He also lends his guidance to all aspects of General Dentistry.

Dr. Burns retired from the New York Army National Guard in Utica, New York after 21 years of dedicated service. He was with the 107th Military Police Unit and retired as a Senior Leader. He proudly served in Operation Desert Shield/ Desert Storm from 1990 to 1991. He was assigned to duties in many areas of southwest Asia. During his 21 years of service, he received many Awards and Decorations for high performance standards while discharging his duties.

Serving and giving back to the community is important to Dr. Burns as he faithfully donates his time and talents to many local agencies. He is currently Chairman of the Health Services Advisory Board for Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency and performs hundreds of free Dental screenings for Head Start Programs in Oneida County per year. Dr. Burns has also developed a network of local Dentists who perform emergency procedures for under privileged children.

Dr. Burns has given multiple presentations to the Federal Governments Department of Health and Human Services. Many of his ideas and practices have been adopted and have become part of our National Health Care Plan to provide dental services to less fortunate children.

He is associated with many community based organizations: Board of Governors, 5th District Dental Society; Chairman of Membership Council, 5th District Dental Society; Past President, Oneida-Herkimer County Dental Society; Past President, 5th District Dental Society (encompassing eight counties in New York State).

Currently, he holds these positions: Chairman of the Ethics Council, 5th District Dental Society; Board Member, New York State Dental Association Council on Ethics; Board of Directors for Family Nurturing Center; participant in the Dental Health services at the Utica Community Center. Every year he participates in the Build-A-Bike event giving away over 700 oral health kits to the children. In addition, he is a member of the National Association of Forensic Dentists, the American Dental Association and is a member of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine for which he is working toward receiving his Diplomate status. He is also a member of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. Dr. Burns prides himself on his continuing education development, and takes many courses which keep him abreast of the latest techniques and procedures being performed in modern Dentistry. He is an Ambassador for the NYS Dental Foundation. Dr. Burns recently received a Certificate Of Residency from Tufts University in Boston in Conjunction with AACP in the discipline of Sleep Apnea Management.

He also has great interest in the study and fabrication ofSleep Apneaappliances. These devices can provide for treatment and relief for those patients who cannot tolerate CPAP therapy. He also enjoys fabricating appliances for patients suffering from Temporomandibular Joint disorders (TMJ). Forensic Dentistry is also his passion. This is the process of studying and identifying human remains. This specialty has allowed many families to receive peace and comfort when a loved one can be identified and properly laid to rest.

When he is not treating patients, Dr. Burns enjoys many leisure activities. He is an avid sculptor, using the mediums of clay, metal and wood. In warm weather, he enjoys golfing, landscaping, the beach and woodworking. Winter enjoyment includes snowmobiling and skiing. Throughout the year, he enjoys all that the Adirondacks and the Mohawk Valley have to offer.
