It was only a matter of time before Dr. Ryan returned home to join the family dental practice. He grew up in Northbrook, attended Glenbrook North High School where he excelled in academics and athletics as a soccer, basketball and lacrosse player. Ryan continued his education in Ohio where he received his bachelors degree from Miami (OH) University and immediately accepted a position at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Following dental school, Ryan was selected to be a dental resident in a competitive program at the Bay Pines VA hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida where he received an Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate with a focus on implant dentistry, oral surgery, cosmetic dentistry and complex full mouth rehabilitation while treating our countries veterans.
Dr. Ryan has recently gained even further advanced education through an arduous TMJ and Sleep Therapy residency program and completed over 200 hours of continuing education specifically focused on TMJ pain and Sleep Disordered Breathing. In 2016 he was accepted as a Diplomate in the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine after passing a written examination and submitting successful case studies to the board. He is a Fellowship-Eligible in the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and American Board of Craniofacial Pain.
As a father-son family practiceSkale Dental Professionalspride themselves on long-lasting professional relationships and continuing family involvement. Our office manager, Maria, has been with the office for over 25 years. Our Registered Dental Hygienist, Mollie, is a new addition and daughter of Dr. Darryl Skale and sister to Dr. Ryan Skale.
Mollie is Dr. Darryl Skales oldest daughter and Dr. Ryan Skales younger sister. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelors degree in Science and recently obtained her Dental hygiene degree from the College of Lake County, graduating as the Valedictorian of her class. Mollie has been such a welcome addition to Skale Dental and has been overwhelmingly well-received by all patients. As the offices first dental hygienist, she has added a new element to the office, offering a fresh look at oral health. Having her is well overdue as her presence, personality and the quality of care she provides to the patients has been excellent. Mollies great energy and positive spirit gives the patients a sense of comfort and ease while in her dental chair. She offers the same great quality of care and personal attention to each patient that are provided by her father and brother.
Talia came to the office wise beyond her years. She has been trained in dental practice and it is evident. Talia is Dr. Skales primary clinical assistant but has recently taken on a greater role with our front desk and administrative team, particularly on the insurance side. She can do it all with her strength being her commitment and work ethic.
Jocelyn joined the Skale Dental family in 2016 as a part time assistant. Her role within the office expanded quickly as did our need for her great teamwork. She now is a integral part of our team, providing help with just about everything in the office. She has gained immense clinical skill in a short time through the experience working with our great doctors and trained staff.
Skale Dental Professionals will provide the best and latest in dental technology and treatment options. For diagnosis, our doctors use digital x-rays and a special cavity detection machine called DIAGNOdent. Our intra-oral cameras in each dental room allow us to show you exactly what we see and why we recommend treatment. We utilize the best equipment sterilization techniques available to dentists, using a modern sterilization system that surpasses OSHA requirements. The source of water for our dental units is distilled water (bottled water), which removes any chance of contamination from regular tap water like that used in most dental offices.
The office is not too big and the staff is not overwhelming, making this a very inviting and comfortable facility. The doctors and staff are concerned with maintaining the best office with a caring family touch. We bring a family feel to the practice of dentistry, ensuring each patient is a priority, treated with compassion and respect while receiving excellent dental care.
In addition to general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry, we work with specialists in Periodontics (gum diseases), Implant dentistry, and Endodontics (root canal treatments), as well as other specialists. Our team emphasizes comprehensive quality care and preventive dentistry.

I'd put off my dental checkups due to the pandemic and finally went in to see Dr Ryan Skale and his amazing hygienist, Molly today. It was a completely comfortable experience. Their office is beautiful, spotless and contemporary. And they are a great dental team! They do everything possible to give patients a positive experience!

My kids and I are patients at Skale Dental and we couldn't be happier. Several months ago, my son cracked his tooth in half while playing at school. Dr. Ryan saw him immediately, fixed the tooth perfectly, and was calm and reassuring (to both me and my son, hard to know who was more nervous). Fast forward a few months, my son re-cracked the same tooth while we were on vacation! By some miracle, we found a local dentist who could help us on a Saturday afternoon, and Dr. Ryan texted with me throughout the process. His advice is thoughtful and practical, and he takes time to make sure you understand it. We have more work to do on my son's tooth, and I feel reassured that Dr. Ryan is the one working on it. Everyone at the practice is incredibly friendly and caring, and they run their scheduling well - we never have long waits. I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Our first experience was great. The staff was very good with kids and my boys were instantly comfortable. Dr.Ryan spent a good amount of time explaining everything to me and answering all my questions. This will definitely be our place to go!
