Dr. Singer graduated from Georgia Tech with highest honors in 1974, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree. He was awarded his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1978. In addition, he completed two years of post-doctoral training at Fairleigh Dickinson University, receiving his certificate as an Orthodontic Specialist in 1980. Since establishing his orthodontic practice in 1980, Dr. Singer has maintained an intensive schedule of continuing education to keep abreast of the latest changes in the specialty of orthodontics.
Dr. Singer is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and an associate professor in the Nova Southeastern School of Dentistry Department of Graduate Orthodontics. Dr. Singer is past president of the Broward County Dental Association and past president of the South Florida Academy of Orthodontists. Since its founding in 1929, the process has changed many times. Today, the process involves a thorough Written Examination covering all areas of information on which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful passage allows the orthodontist to then present detailed case reports, which demonstrate a history of excellence in patient care. These cases are evaluated by expert examiners of the Board during a Clinical Examination. An Oral Examination is then given, and the applicant is tested on a wide variety of academic and clinical topics. Certification is then awarded for a time-limited period and the orthodontist must re-examine on a periodic basis to maintain the board certified status.
The College of Diplomates sponsors programs to assist orthodontists in becoming board-certified. The College also sponsors superb educational seminars every year for the benefit of its members. Dr. Singer is the only member of the College of Diplomates of the ABO in Broward County and one of only two members in Boca Raton.
