To us, our community is our family, and from the moment you walk through our doors, thats exactly how youll be treated. Our team reaches beyond the technical knowledge and mechanics of our treatment plans to deliver a personalized and unmatched care experience.
For more than 40 years, weve been serving the Pensacola and surrounding communities. And, we serve them stillinside as well as beyond the walls of our practice. Through our giving back program we have partnered with schools to provide necessary materials for teachers, as well as helped those less fortunate via our Cleft Palate program. Were not just transforming smiles, were transforming what a normal orthodontic practice can do, and as a result, transforming the world.
As the son of an engineer, Dr. Sims loves the technical aspects of orthodontics, but his true joy in his career path comes from connecting with his patients and seeing positive transformations in their lives. Dr. Sims is a Pensacola native, dedicated to providing his community with the best orthodontic care inside of his office and beyond. By giving back in the Pensacola Community, Dr. Sims takes bi-yearly trips to Peru, providing dental services to underprivileged children and adults in remote areas.
After Dr. Stephen Trawick, DDS, retired from practicing orthodontics, he handpicked Dr. Sims to carry on the practices legacy because of his compassion for others, devotion to orthodontics, and continuous pursuit of excellence. In Crestview, Bayer and Curtis did the same, entrusting Dr. Sims to take over the care of their patients and continue the success of their practice. Dr. Sims is skilled in working with patients of all ages, and he especially loves to help improve the self-esteem of younger patients by giving them beautiful smiles.
Dr. Sims became board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics in early 2016, and is a Premier Invisalign Provider. By staying on the cutting edge of technology and continued research, Dr. Sims is able to provide the highest quality of care to his patients and help them achieve the smile theyve always wanted. He and his team look forward to building a lifelong friendship with you!
Orthodontic care is more than a one-time visit. The caring staff at Sims Orthodontics will be with you every step of the way en route to your perfect smile. For nearly four decades, our team has been serving the Pensacola community under the leadership of Dr. Stephen Trawick and the Crestview community under doctors Bayer and Curtisand we take the responsibility of continuing their unparalleled service to their patients to heart every day.
Our goal is to transform the patient experience. We dont stop at creating impressive experiences. We want to create impactful experiences. We believe people should never miss out on orthodontic treatment due to finances or insurance. We work with patients to file all insurance claims on their behalf, even during their time in braces. And, we offer competitive, flexible payment plans with no interest to ease the financial burden.
We arent like other orthodontic practices. Our team is dedicated to delivering an unparalleled experience. We provide kids and families with an exclusive comfort menu, dedicated Game Room with Xbox Kinect, coffee bar, refreshment area, free Wi-Fi, and an amazing 220-gallon saltwater aquarium, iTero digital scanner, along with many other features to make your experience at our office wonderful. We have fun with our patients through birthday celebrations, contests and giveaways, and patient appreciation days, and well keep you updated with bi-monthly newsletters. Most importantly, we pride ourselves in making the treatment process seamless. From the moment you enter our office for your new patient exam to when your braces are removed, your experience will be seamless. Here are some examples:
Dr. Sims became board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics in early 2016. This certification signifies a commitment to excellence, as it is leap beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics.
No. All practicing orthodontists are licensed, but only about 30% of all orthodontists are Board Certified as well. Becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics is a unique achievement. The current certification process requires the candidate to demonstrate meaningful accomplishments in patient care, including detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a wide range of patient issues. Board certification is an honor reserved for the most committed of candidates, as it follows a process by which an individual orthodontist is thoroughly examined by an expert panel in all matters pertaining to orthodontic knowledge and clinical skills.
No. Currently, this is the only certifying board recognized by the American Dental Association for the specialty of orthodontics. Founded in 1929, the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) is the oldest specialty board in dentistry. Objectives of the ABO include the evaluation of orthodontic standards and practices, as well as the assurance and certification of continued proficiency and excellence in the field.
Completing the rigorous process of board certification is a demonstration of excellence to both the general public and dental professionals everywhere. The certification is proof of the orthodontists pursuit of continued proficiency and excellence in orthodontics. Moreover, it is a symbol of commitment by a licensed specialist that he/she has the knowledge and skillset to treat patients in accordance with the highest of standards. It proves to patients and the orthodontic community that the specialist is committed to staying abreast of the latest advances in patient care, and that he/she will continue to deliver these advances to all patients.
Since the boards founding in 1929, the certification process has undergone many changes. Currently, the process requires candidates to pass a thorough Written Examination covering all areas of information on which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Once he/she has passed the exam, the orthodontist must present detailed case reports, demonstrating a history of excellence in patient care. Examiners of the Board evaluate the reports during a Clinical Examination. Finally, an Oral Examination is given, testing the applicant on a wide variety of academic and clinical subjects. Certification is then awarded for a time-limited period. This requires the orthodontist to be re-examined on a periodic basis in order to maintain the board certified status.

They are awesome! Always friendly and right there to help with any questions or concerns you have. Highly recommend them with a very warm atmosphere where the patient feels they are important not just another person in the chair. They are quick to get you in and are very thorough. My kids wish they could have Dr. Sims as their general dentist too.

This dude saved the day. There I was missing my two front teeth after engaging in an unnecessary heroine induced battle with a patient. The ole trusty narcan did its thing and next thing you know I was being flung around the room like a rag doll. Good Ole county insurance took great care of me by throwing me a pizza party and a partial denture that looked worse than the chiclets Dennis the menace replaced Mr. Wilson's teeth with. I tell ya' you couldn't tell me and the patient apart! Dentist after dentist told me they couldn't get me a partial within the next few days. With no hope I googled and contacted dr. Sims office and to my astonishment were able to see me same day. Picture this I walked in and they handed me a present just for showing my face. Who does that? Anyways, this doc comes in, chill af, and agrees with me that my partial looks like Abraham Lincolns wood dentures. Straight up tells me " oh we can Atleast do better than that". I wanted to cry I was so happy. Then he tells Me not only can he have something made that's better, but within 15 minutes! I swear if my last two brain cells could have came out to hug this man they would have. This office is not only nice af, all the dental assistants were awesome too. Best part is I'm a broke paramedic Student on the county's payroll and thought this would cost me my shriveled up caffeine infused eggs. It cost me half of what I was puckered up for! Go to this dentist. He's the man. You won't regret it.
