It was just about the end of summer when my family immigrated to the United States. The school year was just about to start, instead of being happy and excited, I wanted to hide myself. I wanted to be invisible.
Not having prior access to proper dental care, I was always self-conscious about having poorly aligned front teeth. I was very insecure about my appearance, which caused me to be very shy around people.
It wasn't until my orthodontic treatment that my personality, along with my appearance began to change. I went from being a reserved, insecure 13-year-old to becoming a confident young adult. As my teeth began to straighten, I became more outgoing and started smiling more. Psychologically the changes in my smile increased my confidence and self-esteem and I began to change my social behaviors.
I realized how impactful and life-changing orthodontic treatment was. By the end of my high school years, I knew I wanted it to be my career path. Fast forward to today, I feel blessed that I can change and influence people's lives.
Dr. Isaak Yelizar graduated from the New York University College of Dentistry with the highest honors. He was a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society and earned several scholastic awards. He then moved on to a general practice residency at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, where he fell in love with orthodontics. His hard work led to an orthodontic residency program at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, NY.

Karen has her Bachelors in Science (Health Promotion Management) from York College and is also a certified nurse assistant and phlebotomy technician. She goes above and beyond to provide excellent customer service to our patients while also performing a variety of important administrative and clerical tasks each day. When she isnt busy at the orthodontic office, her favorite hobbies include swimming, riding her bike, doing crafts, and (of course) spending quality time with her family.
Jessica's favorite part of this job by far is seeing how much a patient's confidence level rises when they come into the orthodontic office! She is currently attending university at Queens College and spends her day off working with a speech therapist, helping children with special needs and disabilities. She also enjoys painting and spending quality time with her nieces and nephew, as well as her adorable Yorkie named Cezar.
Emily loves seeing how our patients transform after their orthodontic treatment. Their self-confidence just soars! She studied at Long Island University and is HIPPA certified. Her family originally hails from Paraguay, and they have helped her become a very humble, warm-hearted person who loves caring for others. In her free time away from work, she enjoys reading, going to the gym, and doing her nails. She also speaks three languages!
Michael volunteered for over a year,observing and learning orthodontics from Dr. Yelizar.He is currently a part time sterilization and labapprentice. Michael enjoys spending time with staff and patients, while gaining lots of valuable experience that will prepare him for his future career in the dental world. Outside of the orthodontic office, he's very passionate about fitness, especially weightlifting and bodybuilding. In his eyes, pushing yourself physically reveals what you are made of mentally, and it helps build confidence too!

Dr. Yelizar is an amazing orthodontist. Keeps me very informed. Goes above and beyond to accommodate my daughters needs with regard to providing the most effective treatment. Most doctors would prefer to extract a tooth to make it easy but he is doing everything possible to save her teeth. I definitely recommend him to all my friends and family. Very clean and professional office and staff. Love it!! UPDATE: After 3 years with my daughters very difficult case, Dr. Yelizar blessed my daughter with an absolutely perfect smile!!! I am truly humbled by Dr. Yelizar's concern and efforts in making sure that my daughter got the absolute best care and treatment. She required oral surgery in order to pull down her K9's which were stuck. The first time she went in for the exposure surgery (with an Oral Surgeon), Dr. Yelizar applied the brackets to begin pulling the teeth down, and after a few weeks, we noticed the chains getting black and rotted. At that point, he gave us a choice to either try to have the exposure surgery done one more time, or just prepare her for implants later. He explained every option in full detail both times to make sure that I was comfortable and fully equipped with all of the information that I may need to make an informed decision. He also made a trip to my daughters Oral surgeon's office to discuss why the chains began to deteriorate so quickly. When he realized that the surgeon only had one type of chains, which we were worried would just begin to erode again - Dr. Yelizar purchased and brought in chains made of better and stronger metals and asked the surgeon to use those instead! He could have just let us run around and figure these things out, but he didn't. He literally went above and beyond to ensure that we had the best possible treatment. He took care of my daughter as if she was his own at that moment. Witnessing that level of care in today's times is truly heart warming. Luckily, these chains did not deteriorate, the teeth finally came down, he worked on perfecting the space and shape of the teeth and mouth at that point and my daughter and I have never been happier! I highly recommend Dr. Yelizar for any of your orthodontal needs. He has a great team as well, Karen is very helpful and efficient. His office still remains clean and sanitary after all these years. I am a fan in many respects. I will be bringing in my son for his braces as well and who knows, with his level of care, I might consider even getting my own incognito braces which he also offers.
