My first step in care is establishing an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. Communication and education about dental health helps my patients understand their unique situation and enables us to then work together to develop an appropriate plan of care. Early diagnosis, prevention, and state-of-the-art treatment options provide the best course of action for consistently positive outcomes.
CONTINUING EDUCATION WITH EMPHASIS ON ORAL/SYSTEMIC CONNECTION, PERIODONTAL NON-SURGICAL AND SURGICAL UPDATES, SOFT TISSUE MANAGEMENT, LASER THERAPIES, BONE GRAFTING MATERIALS/PROCEDURES, PHARMACEUTICALS, DENTAL MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGY.
Dr. Patricia and I have been partners in marriage, parenting, and dentistry for over 30 years. We have three amazing adult children, Geoffrey ( and his wife, Cynthia), Tracy (and her husband, Justin), and Christine. Family life and activities have always been very important to us and we have always been very busy people. We have so many wonderful memories, and hope to have many, many more.
I have always been an avid sports fan. I played hockey in high school, lacrosse in college (I still hold some of the records in that sport at Notre Dame), and have enjoyed coaching many of our childrens sports. Our son, Geoff, and I are hockey referees (although hes a level IV and I am not). I also enjoy attending college and professional sports, especially the Chicago Blackhawks. This I share with my daughter, Christine.
I am a history buff. You will find me reading especially about Lewis and Clark, the Civil War, and other major historical events. Since our daughter Tracy and her husband live in Charleston, S.C., I have an opportunity to visit many of the historical places there frequently.
Dentistry has been a very rewarding field for me. I enjoy working with and caring for people, helping them control and prevent periodontal disease, and bringing them to a greater level of health. Its exciting to be in a field where new developments are occurring daily.
My goal is to provide exceptional and gentle dental care in a relaxed environment. I will educate you about your individual dental needs and guide you through the decision-making process. I use of state-of-the-art technology to deliver high quality care and enjoy working with my patients to meet their dental health and cosmetic goals.
Dr. Paul Simmons and I have been happily married since 1981. We have three adult children: Geoffrey (and his wife, Cynthia), Tracy (and her husband, Justin), and Christine. My greatest joy is any and every opportunity I have to spend time with my family, no matter what we do. I enjoy bicycling, kayaking, sewing, gardening, and reading.
My early degree in occupational therapy, along with a decade of practice in that field, gives me particular insight for our special needs clientele. During those years as an occupational therapist, I was employed by hospitals in Detroit and Canada, and schools and home health agencies in Chicagoland. I also co-authored a book in that field which was published in three languages.
My move into dentistry came as a desire for continued development and I am passionate about it. It is a rapidly evolving field with new technologies and materials becoming available and so many opportunities for personal and professional growth. It has been and continues to be a very rewarding field in which to be practicing. Our patients are extremely important to me and my goal is to give each and every one the best possible care I can, just like I would my own family. I take advantage of the many continuing dental education classes available so that I can provide state-of-the-art care. One primary example of this is the impact that dental implants have had as a choice for patients with missing teeth. The field of dental materials has provided us with beautiful, user-friendly (and receiver-friendly) white filling materials. We now know so much more about the problematic bacteria that compromise oral and systemic health.
Our practice is enriched by a clientele from a broad ethnic and cultural diversity, very representative of the Chicagoland area. We extend a warm welcome to you to come and be a part of our dental family. We promise you our very best!
I have been employed at Simmons Dental Associates for 15 years.I perform all aspects of dental assisting. It is my job to make sure that all patient care areas and instruments are cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized properly. I assist the dentists at chairside with their procedures and ensure patient comfort. In addition, I manage lab duties, take x-rays and impressions, and assist with front office duties as needed.
Most of my time and energy is spent enjoying time together with family. When I have some free time, I enjoy reading, listening to good music, watching Ancient Aliens, and cooking. I am bilingual in English and Spanish.
