Dr. Silversmith earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. He completed his dental training at the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine, where he then specialized in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. During his education, Dr. Silversmith was awarded honors including induction into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society, the American Association of Orthodontists Award, the American College of Dentists Outstanding Student Award, and the Evan Kravitz Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award.
Silversmith Orthodontics started in 2010 with the goal of providing high-quality orthodontic care in a relaxed and caring atmosphere. Dr. Silversmith achieves this goal by attending continuing education courses, reading current research articles, subscribing to several educational forums, collaborating with other dental professionals, and much more. Dr. Silversmith is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Rhode Island Dental Association. He joined the Pierre Fauchard Academy in 2012 after being invited by fellow dentists from Rhode Island.
Dr. Silversmith credits his sense of dedication, endurance, and commitment to the years he was a wrestler from middle school through high school and the importance his family placed on education and integrity. He lives in South Kingstown with his wife, Jeanine, and their two children. His interests include biking, swimming, and hiking.
We can only provide great care with a team of dedicated staff. Doreen is our Patient Coordinator that juggles many roles including scheduling, finances, and insurance coordinating. Our Orthodontic Assistants, Monique, Jessica, and Sarah, are certified to take radiographs and are trained to follow infection control protocols. We try to provide every patient with the best experience possible while emphasizing patient education at every visit to ensure the most successful outcome.

I just moved to the area from out of state. You can't ask for a better all around experience than DDS Silversmith and his entire team! They are top notch, service oriented, kind professionals. I'm grateful for their knowledge, thoughtfulness in approach to treatment, and flexibility in scheduling. Above and beyond!

Dr Silversmith is not just a great orthodontist, but more importantly he is a good person. If you are looking for someone who is ethical and fair he is your your man. He treats his patients like there were his own kids and if there are questions or concerns he deals with them as opposed to brushing them off. I would 110% recommend him to anyone looking for orthodontics. I know this review might sound fake and the full disclosure is that because of location (I live north of providence) my kids go somewhere else for braces, however my 3 step kids all go or have gone to him and he has always gone out of his way to help me with any questions I have regarding my own kids who he does not see. I also have also gotten to see how he has treated my step kids thru the entire process. This give me the unique benefit of being able to compare and contrast, while I am happy where my kids go it is a much more business like setting. It's very regimented, in & out lot's and lot's of patient's, lots of marketing, they care but it is not the same vibe.

My older daughter will get her braces off next week, and my younger daughter just started treatment this summer. In the years we've been coming to Silversmith Orthodontics, we have very much appreciated Dr. Silversmith's approach to treatment, his open communication, and the overall office experience. Without hesitation we've referred many friends to Silversmith Orthodontics and will continue to do so!

My experience in getting Invisalign braces was nothing less than pleasant. Dr. Silversmith and his staff are amazing! They always have a smile on their faces when I've arrived for my appointments. Not only are they very professional, they are friendly, warm, and approachable. They even helped me apply for and receive a medical loan and set up a payment plan for the rest of my balance through the office. I would highly recommend Silversmith Orthodontist to ANYONE! :)

My daughter has had a wonderful experience with Dr. Silversmith so far. He is a kind and gentle man who reduced my daughters anxiety about braces. His explanations about next steps and different options allows parents to be more informed and feel like they have stake in the decision making. We had previously gone to another orthodontist in the area and felt like cattle. There were 6-7 kids in chairs at any given time and the doctor had your kids in a palate extender by the time they walked out the door and predictions for braces until they were 22. It has been a completely different experience with Dr. Silversmith. I trust and highly recommend this office to anyone who needs an orthodontist.

I am the mother of four children, all of whom have been patients of Dr. Ian Silversmith, and I also happen to be the owner of a family practice optometry office. This unique combination allows me to fully appreciate the wonderful atmosphere of Dr. Silversmith's office. It can be so tricky to juggle appointment needs, understand insurances, and service emergency's but Dr. Silversmith and his staff take care of issues that arise with ease.
