Dr. Bobby F. Shunnarah was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He, along with his siblings, is first-generation American. Dr. Shunnarah prides himself on hard work and determination thanks to the lifelong lessons taught by his parents, Elias and Reema Shunnarah. His father came to America at the very young age of 26 with two hundred dollars in his pocket, determined to make a better life for his family so they all could live the American dream. Mr. Shunnarah instilled in his son a passion for family, for treating everyone with respect and treating them as if they were family as well. He also imparted a very strong work ethic and had his son working with him in his store at a very young age to learn the right way to treat customers, to be loyal, and to show that nothing comes easy. After working in his father 's 'mom and pop' grocery store, Dr. Shunnarah adopted his father 's work ethics, love for family, loyalty, and passion for treating people with respect and like family and made them his own.
Dr. Shunnarah graduated with a bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1997. He went on to receive a doctorate of dental medicine in 2001. He then completed a one-year general practice residency through UAB at Veterans Hospital. Dr. Shunnarah is currently working on his Comprehensive Implant Residency Program (CIRP). He also continues his education by attending national dental specialty courses throughout the year. Dr. Shunnarah is a member of several highly-regarded organizations, including the following: American Dental Association, Alabama Dental Association, Birmingham District Dental Association and Alabama Dental Foundation. He values the importance of staying at the forefront of his industry and strives to stay engaged in the dental community. He is also a community activist who is involved in multiple charitable organizations.
Dr. Shunnarah carries a true passion for Dentistry with a mission to provide each patient with the best dental treatment possible. He works hard to create a comfortable, family-oriented atmosphere that offers comprehensive dentistry for patients of all ages. Dr. Shunnarah has owned and operated Montevallo Family Dentistry since 2003 and has a true love for the city of Montevallo.
During his time, away from work, Dr. Shunnarah enjoys spending time with his family. He lives in Vestavia, Alabama with his wife, Stephanie and his two children Andrew and Layla. He is also an active member of his local church.

It was my first time here, but let me just say I will definetly be staying here. 100% worth the 45 minute drive. They are super caring and reassuring with great communication. ! Always putting the patient first. I have horrible anxiety and they treated me with such care, gave me a little "weight blanket" lol I was a nervous wreck but they made this a great experience!

After spending several very apprehensive days dwelling over the possible painful and uncomfortable procedures that I was expecting and anticipating, I was greatly surprised and ecstatic to discover the wonderful surroundings of gentle, caring, and encouraging staff that just truly enfolded me into their routine of patient care and readiness for the complex and long procedures I was to have for this particular visit to restore my teeth to being technically useable again, but also aesthetically pleasing to my personal standard of recovering my smile and original looks and view of my face. The visit turned into a very rewarding experience of discovery. The positive attitude of not only the staff, but Dr. Bobby Shanarrah himself was amazing! He gently numbed my mouth and continually assured me I was doing very well with the procedures he was having to do. He was very positive and straight forward describing the procedures and telling me how beautiful the end result would be, not only for eating food again, but for aesthetic purposes as well. He was very encouraging as he worked and very consistent in talking with the staff about the work being done so they were constantly on the same page to the letter in coordinating the work. He was very considerate to complement the staff assisting him when they did specific procedures excellently by stating this as well as saying "beautiful work" when he saw it. I was extremely impressed with his standard of work ethics and office interaction with other patients as well. They were all very considerate, kind, and thoughtful of my comfort physically as well as emotionally. Overall a wonderful fantastic experience in a dental office!! I never thought I would EVER make a statement like this about a visit to a dental office!! Thank you, Dr. Shanarrah and all your staff, for this very positive experience. As beauty knows no age, so too, a smile is ageless! My story/journey began one year ago, October 19, 2020, after an accident left a number of my teeth cracked, broken, and discolored. Overwhelmed with discouragement, I felt lost in the Creepy Hallows of Dispair. Then I met Dr. Shunnarah. As he diligently worked to repair and restore the carnage in my mouth, his encouragement, gentle care, and continually assurance rekindled my hope, trust, and confidence that my teeth could and would be restored, and my smile recovered. WOW!! Was I surprised!! The smile I thought was lost forever was found and miraculously reawakening! Using his artisticly creative skills, Dr. Shunnarah resurrected my beautiful God created smile!! The joy and exhilaration of that reality was phenomenal! I now have a "Million Dollar/Mercedes/Miracle Smile" that truly lights up my life!! The staff is Very Friendly and Very helpful. The dentist was clear on my needs to tell my insurance company. Though I don't have the $5,000. To have two implants and use my denture for the rest of my problems.

People usually dread going to the dentist, but not me. Not when Dr. Shunnarah is my dentist, he made sure I knew I am family. He has the best team in his office. My two team members were absolutely awesome. Not only is his team professional, they are genuinely sweet and what a pretty group. They truly care about the patients. The new dentist came in my area and was so very nice. She is obviously a great addition to the practice. It had been a while since going to the office, however everyone remembered me, greeted me with smiles and warm words. Mrs. Shunnarah is always so kind and she takes times with the patients explaining next steps and the plans for treatment. I am so grateful to be apart of this fabulous family! I can not thank Dr. Shunnarah enough for his sweet words and understanding busy schedules get in the way and reminding me self care has to be a priority.
