A graduate of Lamar University, Dr. James Blankenship was born and raised in the Nederland/Beaumont area. Upon receiving his doctorate from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston in 1993, Dr. Blankenship practiced dentistry at Mainland Dental Center in Texas City before buying his practice located on the seawall in Galveston, Texas.
Since starting at Shoreline Family Dentistry in 2000, he has watched his practice grow with not only native Galvestonians but patients from the surrounding areas of Texas City, League City, Clear Lake and Houston.
Dr. Blankenship obtained orthodontics training from the International Association for Orthodontics as well as specialized training in Invisalign. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, 9th District Dental Society and Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Blankenship and his wife, Stephanie, have three sons; Dillan, Austin, Drayden, and a daughter Dakotah Skye. In his spare time, Dr. Blankenship enjoys spending time with the family and fishing. He can, occasionally, be seen wade fishing in the waters directly in front of his dental practice.

I'm in Galveston on vacation with 2 temporary crowns, which both fell off (of course!), and one broke into pieces. Won't be back to my home dentist for over 2 weeks, and I was completely unable to chew solid food. I called Shoreline Family Dentistry this morning, and they fit me in right away. I feel so lucky to have found them! Dr. Blankenship fit me with a new temporary crown, which actually feels way better than the original one I had and is made from something different that won't break. He also re-cemented my other temporary that was still intact. Everyone in the office from the front desk to the dental assistant to the dentist himself were so kind and reassuring, during a really stressful situation for me. They got me fixed up better than I was before my crowns fell out. Excellent dentist and staff, and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs dental work, whether it's an emergency or just routine maintenance. Very reasonable price, plus the bonus of a beautiful view of the beach while you're in the chair.

Love this place! Had a problem with my permanent retainer while on vacation and they fixed it immediately. Incredibly nice people here. Would definitely come back

This is by far the best dental practice I've ever been involved with. Dr. Blankenship is a extremely talented and really knowledgeable. The dental hygienists do wonderful work and the efficient staff is so friendly. I strongly recommend for your dental needs

Dr. Blakenship is the best dentist I've ever seen. I have always had a HUGE fear of the dentist, and he and his staff do a great job of making you feel calm. He is honest, and does not do or recommend work that is not needed. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. I recently left Galveston due to work relocation, and Shoreline Dentistry is one of the things I miss the most. Finding a good dentist is gold, especially for those who have anxiety when it comes to dental work.

Dr. B and the staff are always prompt, friendly and do the best work. Braces at 37yrs old isn't fun but they have made the experience tolerable and definitely worth while

In and out in under an hour for a new patient appointment. I didn't have any cavities or complaints so the doctor didn't spend much time with me, but all staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience!

Awesome every time! All the procedures done quick and professional! The place is very clean overall with a nice little waiting area. Dr. Blankenship is always making sure to answer all the questions I may have. Not to mention I've had a "dentist phobia" since I was 7 - NOT ANYMORE!
