Dr. David Twesme earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University in 1984. He graduated with Honors from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 1988. In 1991 Dr. Twesme received a Master's degree and a certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Alabama. Dr. Twesme settled in Florence, Alabama where he opened his private practice.
Dr. Twesme has served as President of the Alabama Association of Orthodontists, President of the Alabama Orthodontic Alumni Association, and President of the Tri-County Dental Society. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Alabama Association of Orthodontists, Alabama Orthodontic Foundation, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Stephen Koonce received his education from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992. He graduated with Honors from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1996. In 2001 Dr. Koonce received a Master's degree and a certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry Residency.
He opened his private practice in General Dentistry from 1996-1998 and in Orthodontics from 2001- present. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Alabama Orthodontic Foundation, Alabama Association of Orthodontists, Tri-County Dental Association and the Seattle Study Club.

They do good job. Just make sure you get signed in. We waited 45 min and finally found out when I called in and she ask what spot we were in that she never signed us in and we were sitting out in car waiting and waiting and others that got there after us were going in and coming out.

I had a permanent retainer placed behind my teeth when I was 15 after having my braces taken off. This really helps maintaining your teeth so they will not shift out of place. 9 years I went with not the slightest issues. I'm 24 now. This current year I have had to get it replaced twice. About 4 days before Christmas it breaks for the 3rd time this year. Who else has this kind of luck? I paid for them to fix it the first time no issue with that after 9 years with no issues I was good. The second time it broke it was a mistake on there end and they fixed it for free.. The third time I call the secretary answering the phone asks me of I can just cut the wire myself.... This close to Christmas I knew we would be eating at family gatherings, I also have a public job where I have to use my mouth to speak. And the wire was literally cutting the inside of my mouth. So I told her I was not comfortable doing that myself. And she told me they were "too busy" and only had "one dentist working" so they could not fix it UNTIL January 14th.... Please work on your level of professionalism. You have lost a patient. I now have called a brand new orthodontist right after my phone call with Shoals... Why were they able to get me in faster and it being way more convenient than the orthodontist I have had for 10 years? This orthodontist may be super unaware of how employees are handling their business. So I thought this review may definitely catch the attention of the right person.

We love Shoals Orthodontics! Very friendly doctors and staff, knowledgeable and proficient! As an adult getting a second round of braces, I felt very comfortable visiting this office. The atmosphere is accommodating to all ages!! I am bringing my 12 year old to begin his treatment next month, and I'm looking forward to seeing the friendly faces of Shoals Orthodontics again!!

Awesome staff throughout the office makes for a welcoming experience. The walls are decorated with sports jerseys from some very prominent sports figures. The treatment area is an open space with wide open views of the outdoors. Very cool place.
