Dr. Thomas completed his undergraduate studies at Southern Utah University where with distinction, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He then continued his education at the University of Oklahoma School of Dentistry wherehe excelled in pediatric dentistry. He received membership in the Universitys Pediatric Dental Honors Program and the prestigious J. Dean Robertson Award for Excellence in Pediatric Dentistry.
After receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, Dr. Thomas went on to complete his Residency in Pediatric Dentistry atChildrens Mercy Hospital. Immediately after graduating from residency, he was honored and accepted a position as an Attending Pediatric Dentist atCMH. He still today holds a position with the CMH medical staff. Dr. Thomas is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He takes pride in his work and making Shoal Creek the best pediatric dental office in Kansas City.
In orderto increase his knowledge in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Thomas maintains a membership with both the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. In addition, Dr. Thomas also maintains his Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification every two years. He, along with the SCPD dental staff, maintain their CPR certification as we are dedicated to providing your child with the best dental care possible in a safe and effective environment.
Cost of treatment will depend on the severity of the patients treatment needs. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. We work hard to make dental care affordable and to make sure that you realize your insurance benefits.
We accept assignment from most insurance companies. As a courtesy to you, our office will file the necessary paperwork with your insurance company. It is your responsibility to provide our office with the necessary information relative to your insurance plan. Services not covered by your insurance company must be paid for at the time of service. Professional care is provided to the patient, and not to an insurance company. Thus, the insurance company is responsible to you and you are responsible to Shoal Creek Pediatric Dentistry. We will help in every way we can in filing your claim and handling insurance questions from our office on your behalf, but you are ultimately responsible for payment of services rendered to your child.

Took my daughter here for the first time today and now we will never go anywhere else. From my first phone conversation with the lady at the front desk, to the dental assistant, to the doctor, everyone was wonderful. The dentist has never been a positive experience for my daughter and she has always been terrified. But today after her appointment, she asked if we would be able to go back to see everyone there again lol. She loved it and they made her totally comfortable and her fear of the dentist is finally gone. If your child has a hard time with the dentist, this is absolutely the place to go.

My child is two and a half years old. Today was his first time to visit a doctor. He was shy and won't open his mouth. Dr. Thomas didn't force him and he really had an awesome experience. First his favorite movie was on TV (Toy Story) then he got a Spider-Man toothbrush-he was really happy about that! And he got a free toy! Even though he didn't show his pearly whites he had a big smile on his face when we left. We'll be back in about two months!

Dr. Thomas and his staff are phenomenal - absolutely incredible! They are so very kind, supportive and helpful. The women at the front desk are helpful and understanding - they work hard to accommodate our schedules and travel! Dr. Thomas is so welcoming and comforting to our boys and to me as a mom! He always takes the time to talk to us and explains everything very thoroughly! We consider ourselves very blessed to be in their care!

We just love Dr. Thomas and this dental office! They are so kind, thorough, and quick! :-) I never thought the dentist would be a positive experience for my children, but they love it. My son, just this past week, had to have four of his baby teeth pulled. Obviously he was very anxious about it, but we were in and out of the office within 30 minutes and the whole procedure went incredibly smoothly! I was so impressed at how the staff handled him and how quickly and pain free they were able to get all those teeth out! Dr. Thomas has such an incredibly warm presence, and he takes the stress/anxiety out of going to the dentist; couldn't recommend this office more!

My family drives 40 minutes to see Dr. Thomas and the Shoal Creek Pediatric Dentistry team and it is totally worth the drive. My four kids, ranging in age from 6-12, look forward to their visits and adore Dr. Thomas. After having a few negative experiences at other dentists, I'm so thankful to have this team who patiently and lovingly works with my kids.

We have been going here since my son was 2 (who is now 8). I love the staff and the doctor. They are super nice and very kid friendly. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a pediatric dental office. They are quick in and out visits.

Great pediatric dentist. The dental assistant was extremely kind and child friendly. Cleaned my son's teeth extremely quickly. Very happy with how they have their COVID 19 procedure set up. I felt very safe and that it was a clean, contact free environment. Planning on taking my other children there when they're old enough.
