As an orthodontist, my greatest reward is in knowing that my work has a profoundly positive impact on the lives of the people whom I treat. With this goal in mind, I understand very well the responsibility I have to provide my patients with only the most rewarding, beneficial and individualized care possible. Each day, I strive to uphold and prove my commitment to my patients health and happiness, and I am excited for the many years to come.
Education and Continuing Education For my entire academic career, I attended Ohio State University. There, I received an incredible education that set a solid foundation for me to become a highly skilled orthodontist. At the university, I completed my undergraduate degree in biology (summa cum laude), my Master of Science degree in craniofacial biology, my Doctor of Dental Surgery (summa cum laude) and my specialty training in orthodontics.
During my time in dental school and my residency, I worked very closely with many children at the Nationwide Childrens Hospital in the Craniofacial Abnormalities Clinic. These experiences provided valuable practice in treating patients with special needs and seeing to their utmost health and happiness.
Of course, my education does not stop with my formal academic training. I understand how important it is for my patients that I stay fully abreast of all the latest developments and trends within my field. For this reason, I dedicate much of my free time to continuing education courses and seminars. My patients benefit from this by receiving more efficient and effective treatments that give them better results.
Awards I am proud to have been chosen as one of Columbus Top Orthodontists from 2011 to 2016. This distinguished honor, voted on by general dentists in Columbus, is based on quality of service, patient comfort and excellent working relationships with referring dentists. In addition to this prestigious award, I was also named Best Westerville Orthodontist in 2015 and was additionally the recipient of the 2012 Commitment to Excellence award, given to me by the Downs Syndrome Association of Central Ohio for my work with patients with special needs.
Professional Affiliations By holding active memberships in a number of professional organizations, I am afforded a crucial opportunity to converse and share ideas with my professional colleagues. This is one of the most beneficial channels for continuing my education, and my memberships are integral to my practice.
Outside of the Office In my time away from the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Zhenia, and our sons, Jake, Jordan and Julian. Having spent my entire life in central Ohio, I am a huge Buckeye football and basketball fan. When I get the chance, I love playing golf, traveling, and visiting as many different baseball stadiums as I can.

Using our iTero 3D scanner, our Orthodontists can provide a pretreatment simulation to show you how your teeth will look after you complete orthodontic treatment. We also have 3D printers right here in the office that are used to make appliances in-house. For those suffering from TMJD, headaches and migraines, we offer bite splits as a form of pain management.
Each of our treatment plans include two types of retainers built into the fees (which are received upon treatment completion) permanent wire on the inside of the teeth and removable retainers for nighttime. In addition, ask about our free whitening upon completion of your treatment.

Overall average, about what you'd expect in Pataskala. Billing and service was a bit frustrating throughout... I just used flex spending card to pay but had some frustrating experiences throughout the process. Nice enough staff, there are better alternatives if you travel outside the area in service and price. This office is merely here to gain business in the area. Their main office is in New Albany, Pataskala currently offering no competition in orthodontics. Again, after the whole process was complete with my daughters orthodontics.. I'll definitely look at other alternatives for my other 4 kids. Original 5 star review below, which was given before any work was done: Friendly, professional, clean, modern, contemporary, confident, trusted and true! Amazing results! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!! I'm 30 years old and second guessed getting braces, but best decision of my life. I forgot the name of the female dentist that handled most of my treatment, but she was very good at making me feel comfortable! Same with all the assistants! Going to bring my children here for braces in the future!

They tell you one balance and then adds on a good chunk of late fees in a trying time such as a pandemic when people are suffering as is. I don't care if it's in the contract have a little COMPASSION!!!!

I had a great experience at Shirck orthodontics! The staff is super friendly and welcoming, also right on time! I went in for a 10:00 consultation, had xrays and spoke to the doctor, and by noon I had my braces on! They were very informative and made me really comfortable during the whole process. The next day I got a text asking how I was doing and to let them know if I had any questions! My experience was great and I highly recommend this office for braces or Invisalign! Not to mention they don't charge more for Invisalign if you choose to go that route !

I cannot say enough about how wonderful this office is! My son, who is anxious about dental procedures, was able to ask questions and receive explanations about what to expect. Everyone from the front desk to the doctors are so amazingly friendly and easy to talk to. So happy we chose them!

I'm a travel nurse based out of Columbus and took a travel assignment 3 hours away. Towards the end of my pregnancy the account manager forced me to stop treatments due to the fact I couldn't make it to my appointment. I was told that I could come back to get my brackets removed, however, since I couldn't keep up with my treatments I could not continue regardless of my situation. I tried my best to work with her (Jennifer or Cynthia) and after many phone calls my hand was forced. At the time, I was a high risk pregnancy and not even a week later I had an emergency C-Section. I'm not rating one star because I had to choose my health and my child versus my braces, however, I am rating this orthopedist a one star due to the failed disclaimer that was not given to me that my bill will be sent to collections due to me not continuing treatments. I was told that a letter was sent to my home, however, with being a travel nurse I never received this letter. No one called to verify my living address. This place is a scam and is unethical!!! No one should have to pay 5,000 for unfinished job and should be presented all the facts before making this decision! I've had braces 3 times now and when moving from one city to another (dad was military) there has never been an account sent to collections due to unfinished treatment. As you can see I'm very upset and I'm more upset Jennifer or Cynthia refuse to speak with me regarding this life changing situation for me.

This place is absolutely amazing! My daughter was born with a cleft palate which has caused her teeth to shift/crowd is a way that requires complex treatment. We went to shrick and seen Jen and she had her braces put on the same day. Before my daughter had her braces put on she refused to smile for any pictures, now within just a few months we see huge improvements and she smiles for every photo!!!

My son enjoys their office every visit! All the staff are amazing and friendly! I recommend this place to everyone I meet that needs braces! My daughter has to wait a couple years still but talks often about how she can't wait to go get her braces on!

Shirck Orthodontics is the best! Thanks to Dr. Shirck, my three oldest boys have beautiful smiles! Will definitely be taking my youngest to see Dr. Shirck when the time comes! I'd previously left a review recommending Shirck Orthodontics, but wanted to come back and update my recommendation. We've always had wonderful experiences with each of our three daughters at their office. Our oldest has completed her treatment and her smile is perfect. One of my other daughters has always struggled with severe dental anxiety - she's otherwise happy and healthy, but anything with her teeth created so much stress and fear for her. We found a dentist who was wonderful with her, and I knew I wanted her to be able to be treated at Shirck, after a positive experience with my oldest daughter. I explained her situation to the staff, and let them know she'd require a little extra patience. From day one, each staff member has been kind, caring, and patient. She had an expander placed a few months ago, and this past Thursday she had her braces put on. Throughout the process on Thursday, she was happy, smiling, and calm. I was amazed! I never thought we'd see this day! We are so grateful to Dr. Jen and Karina, and the entire staff, for making this such a wonderful experience. Our youngest will be getting braces there soon, too. I highly recommend Shirck Orthodontics!
