Dr. Sherwin Shinn has a degree in Preventive Medicine and is a 1974 graduate of the UW dental school. He spent over 20 years in private practice and another 20+ years working in community public health clinics and still continues to work full time. His focus has always been working with children. He has been a clinical instructor for the UW dental school Dept. of Pedodontics and an associate dentist for several pediatric dental practices including being the clinical director for Lindquist Dental Clinic for Children.
In 1990 he also started doing dental outreach volunteering to underserved areas of theworld.Since then he has been to over 35 countries on over 70 outreach trips. He has helped establish dental services in Nepal, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, The Cook Islands, Haiti, Micronesia, St. Lucia, Jamaica and Uganda from which over 500,000 people have benefited. In recognition of hiswork he has received many prestigious awards including:
Dr. Shinn continues to follow his Hippocratic Oath to serve others, by donating 100% of all profits from Shinn Kids Dental to charitable programs that provide health care to underserved people around the world.
Dr. Shinn has 7 children and 5 grandchildren. He lives in Gig Harbor with his wife Faria. He is an avid outdoorsman, published writer, professional speaker, accomplished musician, and a tireless advocate for the empowerment of all people.

Dr. Shinn is the most kind, loving, and compassionate pediatric dentist. He's also incredibly humble, you'd have no idea how many awards and accolades this doc has! My children adore him and have zero fear of any form of dental care because of the greatb caring environment they provide here. My kids are excited to go to the dentist! What is also really great is that they treat parents too! So it's a one stop shop! Dr. Juan is my dentist as well as my husbands and he is very knowledgeable and friendly as well. You are in very good hands at this practice!

I am beyond impressed with Dr. Shinn and his staff. My daughter is quite fearful of dentists and the dental hygienists, and for the first time, I saw her appear relaxed while getting her teeth cleaned at Shinn Kids Dental. I am pleased that after quite a long time of bouncing around to different dental clinics, we have finally found "THE ONE".

The staff are willing to help if you have multiple kids with you. They are extremely professional and gentle. We highly recommend them and will be long term clients for years to come. Let me start with saying the employees here are more like a family to me. I have been to multiple dentist's and this one by far is the most caring and most professional place I have ever been. Amazing kindness from all the staff and dentist's. Warm and welcoming. Makes it fun and exciting to visit the dentist. Pain free quality care.
