Dr. Milad Nourahmadi is at the forefront of dentistry in the Chicagoland area. He enjoys all fields of dentistry, including cosmetic and implant procedures. His practice model has been used under his supervision at three successful dental practices, ten general ones, and specialist practitioners.Dr. Nourahmadi received his Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Illinois and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Arts with honors in both philosophy and economics. This diverse knowledge base is what shapes his unique outlook. Dentistry is the field that combines the aesthetic requirements of art and the medical knowledge of science in order to create a positive impact in the lives of patients. Possessing a deep appreciation for both of these topics, Dr. Nourahmadi went on to obtain his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois and is currently licensed to practice in several states.His unique business background and passion for dentistry continually fuel his drive to help evolve current traditional dental business and office design models.
Dr. Nourahmadi is committed to spreading the message of oral health awareness and proper oral hygiene. He believes that by educating people, we can begin to prevent disease instead of simply treating and retreating it.Dr. Nourahmadi has been involved with the Northwest Community Hospital dental division, the Chicago Boys & Girls Club, and the Heartland Health Clinic. He is a member of the Chicago Dental Society (CDS), the Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS), the American Dental Association (ADA), the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), and the California Dental Association (CDA).
Dr. Miller is a new addition to the Shining Smiles LLC family. She is passionate about all aspects of dentistry, but particularly loves cosmetic cases and improving patients confidence in their smiles. Her patients have vocalized their appreciation for her gentle touch and approachable nature. She ensures every patient is as comfortable as they can possibly be and empathizes with the common fear of the dentist. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied human nutrition. This background helps in educating patients on the correlation between their overall health and their oral health. Dr. Miller received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Marquette University School of Dentistry, where she was an active member in the Psi Omega fraternity and was one of a select few chosen to participate in a cosmetic study club led by a renowned cosmetic dentist.
In her free time, she enjoys running, Peloton workouts, spending time with friends and, of course, her infamous puppy, Calvin. She lives for the summer months and would rather be on a boat than anywhere else!
I like to think of myself as a people person, and because of that, I have been focusing my dentistry around people. I believe that whatever energy you put out there is the energy that you will be surrounded with, and because of that belief, I like to keep things light and as fun as possible. If Im not having fun doing something, Id rather not be doing it at all, so dont be surprised if theres a lot of laughing coming from wherever I am, even on the dental chair!
Dr. Kim graduated from the University of Iowa with honors in 2005, later receiving his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Kim and his wife recently moved back to Chicago, where they love exploring everything that Chicago has to offer. They are expecting a little one very soon.
Dr. Gee grew up in a suburb of Detroit and received her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She went on to pursue her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. During her time in dental school, she spent a lot of time volunteering to provide comprehensive dental care at the Union Rescue Mission on Skid Row in Los Angeles and was also a member of Psi Omega, Lucy Hobbs Dental Society, and the American Student Dental Association. Dr. Gee is also currently a member of the American Dental Association. Outside of her time practicing dentistry, Dr. Gee likes to cook, travel, and run. Dr. Gee is also fluent in Cantonese.
Dr Salman Javed, your Shining Smiles dentist in Wheaton, is a general dentist. He grew up in Naperville, Illinois and completed his undergraduate studies at Benedictine University, earning a Bachelors of Science. From there, he obtained a Masters of Arts in biomedical science at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona, prior to graduating from Midwestern Universitys Dental School. He is also a certified Invisalign clear aligners provider.
Dr. Javeds philosophy in dentistry is fostering wonderful relationships with his patients and understanding their needs and concerns. Having built a relationship on trust and respect, he will advise them on the best possible treatment options for their dental needs.
In order to become the best practitioner that he can be, Dr. Javed continually seeks knowledge about the ever-changing field of dentistry. He is committed to taking continuing education courses and learning about the latest techniques and advancements in our field.
When he is not in the dental office, Dr. Javed enjoys spending time with his two children and wife. He enjoys traveling and admiring the art and architecture of different places. Some of his hobbies include being outdoors, drawing, listening to great music and watching good movies. Mostly, he likes to enjoy life!

I completed my first dental schooling at the University of Jordan in 2011. Striving for a more advanced education, I moved to the US and finished the advanced education general dentistry program from the University of Illinois at Chicago. What a great dental office. By far the best customer service was given to my family and I my kids enjoyed their dental visit which doesn't really happen at any other dental office we have been to . Receptionist was very nice and patient with explaining our copayment before collecting and I really appreciated that. This office most definitely became our favorite go to dental office. Dr Kim is fabulous. But I am now questioning their deceptive billing practices. I was told my procedures were covered 100% through insurance then received a call midway my treatment that i owe thousands of dollars above what they were paid already ans since I wasn't willing to just pay the overbilling. They canceled my appointments

Shining Smiles Joliet location is a clean, nice environment, all the staff is really kind, friendly, helpful and personable, I feel they genuinely want to assist with whatever concerns you may have. The only complaint I can think of is that the appointments can seem a little rushed if you're the type of person that likes to ask a lot of questions and have complete clarification like myself ( but I somewhat understand because they do have other patients that need to be seen ) Dr. Kim seems to be experienced and I like that, although I can't necessarily say that about other dentist that I've seen at this same location ( I do believe the other dentist I'm referencing no longer works there).

This office is beautiful! Not only that but the staff is super friendly and speak both English and Spanish. I didn't have to wait long in the waiting area, which is really nice, it shows they value my time. Dr. Yong Kim was very friendly and very knowledgeable in educating me about my dental health. I would highly recommend !

Dr Kim is amazing! I cried when he showed me how beautiful my smile is. I don't usually take pictures and I always hide my teeth! Well after today thanks to Dr Kim I will be smiling and showing my teeth! He is very sincere and tells you every move, all while making you very comfortable.

I was warmly welcomed by staff right away, taken back immediately to take pictures of my teeth. I was extremely awkward, but the lovely dental assistant walked me through the process while making me feel less uncomfortable about the situation.Dr. Kim knew he needed to pull a cracked wisdom tooth, as well as fix major cavities and cracked teeth all over my mouth. He explained everything to me from start to finish in a way I could understand, and reassured me everything would be okay, we would take it slow and get my teeth looking great again! I could barely feel him giving me my first shot of novacaine and he constantly asked if I was okay or if I needed a break, making sure I wasn't in pain which was super nice. My wisdom tooth came out in one piece super painless, and I am super happy with my experience! Thank you Dr. Kim and staff!

Dr Kim did an absolutely amazing job pulling a cracked wisdom tooth for me. I had a touch of ptsd from a previous removal and he really helped with his professional, confident but relaxed demeanor. My tooth came out flawlessly; No stitches, no pain, no cracking or jerking my head around. I could not be happier. It literally took less than 3 minutes once he began the extraction. I had an 11 am apt and was home by 11:45!

Alright this place is worth my time to write. Very clean and professional, offered a drink and everything. Now I don't have dental insurance so going is very difficult for me but it was recommended by the VA. If you are military that either scares you or makes you feel like they are good. I only have a chipped tooth, But I get the initial exam and xray ($75) not bad really. Then I get sat down and set up and start my wait. This amazing person has Seinfeld streaming on a TV for me to watch, I was going to read some but I mean come on Seinfeld. This is the second time I had this chip fixed once before and it was awful, but he comes in with confidence and professionalism that makes me comfortable. He got in there explained everything but got the work done and hell if it doesn't look better than the chip that I was born with. Gave me cost before service has a discount deal for this visit and future work. I don't go to the dentist but I already booked my future cleaning. Thanks Doc!

The people here are really nice and when kids come here they could be always be focused on something's else than the sealing there looking up at. They have TV's for the kids to watch while the dentist is working on your teeth, and last but not least there not that expensive either. Personally I would recommend.

Front desk clerks are welcoming. Dr. Miller and her assistant is very patient and kind. Had to reschedule a couple time due to doctor being out of office. Clean office minimal wait time. Switched to Shining Smiles this past summer. Glad I made the choice!

I had a great first time experience here. No wait time. The reception staff was extremely nice and helpful! I was especially pleased the with the doctor -Dr.Miller she took her time with me and answered all of my questions. I was in and out with a pain free visit. Mayra was wonderful in dealing with the logistics and rescheduling due to the snow storm we got. She was patient and attentive. The doctor has done a great job at picking his staff! I recommend this location. Bonus they speak spanish!!
