Dr. Michael Agenter is a board certified orthodontist with Diplomat status in the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Agenter grew up in Anderson Township and is a graduate of Turpin High School. He earned his Bachelor degree from Northern Kentucky University and DDS degree at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He served as a dental officer in the United States Navy at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego and U.S. Naval Hospital Guam in the South Pacific. While in the Navy, he completed a General Practice Residency and earned the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal before his honorable discharge as a Lieutenant.
After his military service, Dr. Agenter completed a 3-year orthodontic residency at the University of Tennessee, the oldest orthodontic program in the South, earning a Master's degree and certificate of orthodontics. He is now a private practice orthodontist with offices serving Maineville, Chillicothe and Lebanon.
Dr. Agenter is involved in several professional organizations including the Christian Medical Dental Association (CMDA), the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), the Ohio Dental Association (ODA) and the American Board of Orthodontists (ABO). He is grateful for the opportunity to serve his community as an orthodontist and enjoys developing lifelong relationships with his staff, patients and their families. Dr. Ashley is originally from Cotter, Arkansas, the trout capital of the world.After receiving her bachelors degree from the University of Central Arkansas, she earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS degree) and masters degree in orthodontics from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Mike also received his orthodontic training at the University of Tennessee, the oldest orthodontic residency in the South. Go Vols!
In 2013, Dr. Ashley served as a dental student on a Christian Medical Dental Association mission team led by Dr. Mike to El Salvador. Our Chillicothe office manager, Karen Facemire, was also a member of the team. Who would have guessed six years later she would join the Shine Orthodontic team as an orthodontist! Congratulations on your incredible accomplishments Dr. Ashley and welcome to this wonderful new season of your life!
Dr. Ashley was engaged in Florence, Italy in 2019 and now married to the love of her life, Neel Dilip Bhana. Congratulations! Dr. Ashley has two sisters, one brother, one niece, and two nephews.In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, drinking great coffee and (thankfully, for us in Ohio) seeking new adventures!Shelikes to exercise (in part because of a confessed love for cupcakes) and volunteers on medical/dental mission teams. She is enjoying being a part of our Shine Team and furthering the mission and vision of Dr. Mike while serving the Lord through her training as an orthodontist.

They were wonderful! I had not seen them for a few years and had a problem with my retainer. Made an appointment and was able to get a new retainer which solved my problem in a matter of days. They were so friendly. It was like I was still seeing them at least every month. Unfortunately I didn't get to talk to Dr. Mike, but I send him my best regards!

I've had A LOT of dental work done in my life, along with two TMJ surgeries, but getting my night guard was the easiest dental experience I've ever had. I didn't have to wait long for my appointment and the staff was awesome. Dr. Agenter was kind, patient and not pushy. It was nice not to feel rushed. Thank you for such an easy and pleasant experience.

Wonderful service and staff, especially Connie and Shannon. They did a wonderful job with my sons braces and have even helped me with some past braces maintenance 20 years after mine have been removed.

My retainer broke and the receptionist got me in the same day I called. While waiting for the week to pass between my first appointment and the time the new retainer would be ready, my retainer broke again! Thank God for this courteous staff. They were able to bring me in even earlier once I called and let them know about my situation. Plus the price for the 10 year retainer is a deal I can't find a rival for. Great staff. Nice environment. Would 100% recommend!

Rudest bunch of people you will ever talk to... there has been 1 lady and she worked reception today that has been very kind.. Sad you spend all this money and treated like garbage. Worse decision I made was dialing this phone number.

Three out of my 4 kids have come to dr. Mike and we won't go anywhere else. All the staff are amazing, friendly and kind, they truly care about my kids. The atmosphere is nice and calming. They are wonderful about explaining what is going to happen, they talk to the kids making them feel that they are part of it and not just getting the things done to them with no part in it. When we have had a problem they have gotten us in right away. It is also so nice that dr. Mike, Connie will take the time to pray with you if you need or want. Thank you to all the staff for caring.

Such amazing staff + environment. I have gone here since I was 11-12, through two rounds of braces and they have always been amazing, kind and truly care for their patients! My two little sisters go here as well. Completely recommend!

The customer service has been positive. Dr. Mike and Dr. Ashley are both very friendly and easy to talk with and currently addressing my concerns. Connie with Patient Service has been great to work with in helping me.

Wow! I had my first visit today. Connie was so informative and kind. I never felt rushed and I could tell she genuinely cared about my situation. Shannon was a pleasure as well. Dr. Agenter was thorough and explained my treatment plan carefully. I am excited to see what the next several months have in store.

I grew up coming to this place. When I was in third grade, I got my first pair of braces when this used to be called agenters. They have been good to me and I'm glad to see that this work is for the lord. My routainers were very old, so I just got a new pair and I love them. The new system of scanning really helps with my gag reflexes, I'm glad to see that they are doing well and helping others.

We are so glad we chose Shine Ortho for Isaac's braces. We love the friendly atmosphere. We especially love how everyone on the staff gets along. The staff is a direct reflection of Dr. Michael. I would try and schedule Isaac's appointment first thing in the morning so we could hear some of the staff meeting they have daily from 8-830. There were always positive words of encouragement. After being told by another orthodontist in town that they didn't accept our insurance, a friend recommended Dr.Agenter at Shine. At our consultation visit we got to see Dr. Ashley. She was AMAZING!! The staff were so accommodating and Connie walked us through the entire process of what the insurance would cover and how we could work out a payment plan for the remaining balance. We look forward to going to each visit and my daughter's progress is going GREAT!! Dr.'s Mike and Ashley are incredible!! It helps that they are folks who have a love for the LORD and HIS people!! Thank you Shine for being a light in a dark world!!!
