Dr. Steven Justesen is a Doctor of Dental Surgery. He grew up in Moses Lake, WA, where he established a great love for the outdoors. When he wasnt working hard for his fathers cleaning and construction business, he could be found camping, playing on the lake and snowmobiling. After high school, he served a two-year mission in Poland before returning home to marry his high school sweetheart. He completed his undergraduate and dental education at the University of Washington where he shared his love of learning by mentoring and teaching fourth-year dental students. Dr. Justesen enjoys working with patients of all ages, especially kids. With eight children of his own, their family loves the outdoors and can be found skiing, sledding or just enjoying the fresh air.
Dr. Nygard is a board-certified Dental Anesthesiologist. He was born in Missoula, Montana, and recently returned to the Treasure State to join his friend and colleague Dr. Justesen at Shine Dental. Dr. Nygard attended Washington State University where he ran track and the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Doctors Justesen and Nygard both served in the universitys RIDE (Regional Initiatives in Dental Education) program, which trains dentists to meet the needs of rural and underserved populations in the state and region. After completing his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, Dr. Nygard completed his anesthesia residency and Loma Linda. He is currently one of only four doctors in Montana specializing in dental anesthesiology. When hes not working, he finds time to enjoy the outdoors with his family. He and his wife have 10 children.

I love Shine Dental! I hadn't been to the dentist in, way to long to mention... and I ended up having an emergency tooth issue. They were able to get me in the same day and were SO kind. I have always had a fear of the dentist but they made me feel so comfortable and safe. It was such a positive experience for me and has changed my feelings towards going to the dentist. I would recommend them to everyone I know!!

Amazing and super friendly staff. The service and flexibility with scheduling is also amazing. The dentist is knowledgeable and is pretty great at what he does. They're at the cutting edge of dentistry tech (as far as I know), and have their own equipment to make fillings and teeth parts so you know it'll be a quick visit and you're out of the door with a great smile. Would recommend this place to anyone I know!!

Shine is awesome. I have horrible dental anxiety and these people do everything in their power to put you at ease. I have never been seen by a nicer, more professional staff of people and would happily recommend them to anyone. They will take care of you from check-in to check-out like you are family, and Dr. Justesen did everything in his power to make sure I was comfortable and at ease. One of the things that made a big difference for me is that they use a laser instead of traditional drilling. I have a visceral reaction to the sound of the drills and it's one of the things that causes the most anxiety for me. The sound is unbearable and having a drill in your mouth is stressful, but the utilization of the laser changes all of that. The sound is much more tolerable. There's no weird pressure/vibration sensation. It seems a LOT faster too, and less traumatic to the tissue. They also offer a ton of comfort options like weighted blankets and ice cold bottled water. If you have dental anxiety at all, this absolutely the place to go.

Dr. J. saw me emergently on his day off when I was visiting from out-of-town. I'd broken a tooth late the night before, a Friday, and was in pain. I left a message for him Saturday morning and he phoned me back within 10 minutes. I was in his chair in 2 hours. He removed a broken piece and told me a crown was needed. I knew that to be true because my home dentist was scheduled to do a crown for me on that very tooth two weeks later. Because Dr. J. was willing to see me on his day off I wanted to give him my business. I cannot imagine the process being any more fantastic. A machine produced a 3-D image of my teeth, and another machine fashioned the crown. While that was being done, he had me sit in a massage chair! The crown fit perfectly and he cemented it in. Two days later I was without any remaining sensitivity and could give it no thought when eating. And get this; he called me Monday to see how I was doing! What a great guy and great dentist. He's a genius and obviously enjoys his work and helping people. He does a bit more than general dentistry so I hope you give him the chance to work with you. I'm disappointed he can't be my home dentist!

So happy with Dr Justesen and staff. After not being happy for a long time at a large dental office in town, I feel so great going to this office. Wonderful atmosphere and a cooperative environment. Not the our way or highway impersonal attitude of the large 19th street dental office I was going to. Couldn't be happier with the experience and more importantly results of their dental work. Highly recommend!

I absolutely love everyone at Shine Dental. The staff are super caring and understanding. Before I went to see Dr. J, I was absolutely terrified of going to the dentist. I was so scared I would shake in the chair. He and his staff are very gentle and try to make your experience at the dentist as pain and anxiety free as possible. Because of Shine Dental I am better able to take care of my teeth and am no longer afraid of going in. If you have a horrible fear of the dentist, I highly recommend these guys!

*Editing to say that I have now had another dental emergency, and once again they fit me in within the hour! Unheard of. And so kind. Thank you Shine! I was a patient at another clinic in town. I needed a root canal badly, but they couldn't schedule me for three weeks. Shine worked incredibly hard to get me in the morning I called, and did the work way less invasively and at a third of the price. They made me feel cared for and I even enjoyed the time spent there, which I never thought I'd say about a dental visit. I am so grateful to them!

Dr.Justsen and his assistant Namoi preformed a root canal on me today and it was one of the best experiences I've had at a dentist office. They had great communication with me and made me feel very comfortable. It was about a 2 hour process and they provided headphones and water. You could also get a blanket or hot towel if you wanted. I actually feel asleep during the whole thing because I was so relaxed. Highly recommend for anyone, as the team made it feel very welcoming.

Everyone here takes great care of you! They are so quick to make you feel comfortable and are constantly checking in to see how you're doing. This goes from the initial consultation call to sitting down in the office chair to explain any procedures you may need some. Their membership plan is awesome for those without dental insurance. I'm truly glad I found them to boost my dental health. Shine Dental is by far the best experience I've had with any dental office!

After trying many dentists in the valley, I finally found a great one! Dr. J and his staff are absolutely amazing! All of them! Special shout out to Aizey. She is the best dental assistant I have ever had. I needed to have a root canal done and I was terrified. They made me feel so at ease and wanted to help make me the most comfortable I could be. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I would definitely recommend Shine to anyone looking for a dentist. :)
