I posted the same review on Yelp and am posting here as well for more visibility: Very kind and patient team. I couldn't get general anesthesia for my wisdom teeth extraction because I forgot I wasn't supposed to eat. They did a great job helping me prepare for the gas and local numbing, and helped manage my anxiety as well as maintaining the pain meds when I started to feel it. I was sent home with instructions, gauze, ice packs, and the 2 teeth that they were able to remove in one piece. When they told me to call if I have any more questions, I felt they were genuine. If my family or I need any more oral procedures in the future, I'll be calling Dr. Shimane's office first.

I just got my surgery for the extraction of my 4 wisdom teeth and my tongue tie was cut. At first the pain was really bad but following the medication instructions helped a lot and I'm so happy right now. While they were putting me to sleep they were very caring and everything felt quick. Thank you and God Bless!

Dr Shimane extracted all 4 of my wisdom teeth - 2 were impacted and needed surgical extraction and other 2 were normal extraction. Everything went smoothly and I had surprisingly minimal pain after extraction. It was back to normal within a week. Dr Shimane is skilled at what he does. Overall I am glad I went with Dr Shimane.

I've had more than my share of dental nightmares over a span of 60 years and when my dentist referred me to Dr. Shimane after a crown fell off with most of the tooth still inside of it I was a bit apprehensive. He would need to remove the remainder of the tooth and do a bone graft so I could get an implant at a later date after it had healed. The procedure went like clockwork and was pain free, even after the anesthetic had worn off. I've had a couple of follow up visits and will be ready for the implant shortly. He and his staff have been great and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I went in today, 02/11/2021, for all 4 wisdom teeth to be removed. The place was very inviting and the staff was all excellent. The surgeon was amazing and very personable, friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable. The lady that prepped me definitely helped to put me at ease and was very friendly. It was one of the best dental experiences I have every had. If you're looking for an amazing team to do dental surgery, look no farther. Thank you Shimane!!

I just had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted today and I feel great. I had a really good experience here and would definitely come back if I need more dental work in the future. Dr. Shimane and his team were very nice and made me feel as comfortable as possible. I was really, really nervous as this was my first time going under general anesthesia, but it was all over before I knew it! Trust me, I am the biggest baby when it comes to dental work and I can confidently say that this has been one of the best dental experiences l've had. Five Stars.

I would never recommend this oral surgeon to anyone. My dentist referred me to him after my tooth had chipped and could not be saved. I decided to go the implant route vs root canal. My tooth extraction was not easy due to my deep roots but after the extraction is when everything went down hill. First the front staff was in a rush to get me to leave the lobby so they could go home. Even though my ride was still not there. Was the first sign! Came home and the pain started to get worse. Dr called and instructed for me to take the Vicodin that he has prescribed for pain. Per instructions I took one but I had lost conscious and could not get off the floor. Dr then said to take half but i was afraid to take the half even. So I never took the vicodin again and stuck to Ibuprofen. One week later and even three weeks later i was still in pain. I went in a couple times with my concerns for the pain and first time was told to take Vicodin's because I ran out of Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen worked very well but he refused to prescribe stating it causes liver damage (after a week of usage?). He first pushed for me to keep taking Vicodin which I did not feel comfortable with. Second or maybe even third time that I came in regarding the pain he still did not want to prescribe ibuprofen but instead proscribed me Morphine!!!! I didn't realize what it was until I picked up the prescription. I never took it. I told him I don't want to get addicted to these pills and he said you will not get addicted after 20 pills. Well I still did not feel comfortable so I dealt with pain. Finally came the time to take out my stitches. I was sat down in an office with desk, computer and no patient chair at all. To my surprise he got his gloves and scissors and started to pull out the stitches. I freaked out and started to get dizzy. I guess panic attack. I expected any procedure to be sitting comfortably in a patient chair and not in an office with desk and regular guest reception type chair. He called the staff and they got me a wet towel and had me sit on floor. He simply walked away and left them to deal with me. Eventually he did come back and take out the stitches. But still in the office setting. I was very nervous and uncomfortable. After leaving that day I never wanted to step foot into this place again. But after some time someone from the office called not to check up on me but to bring me in to see about moving forward with finalizing the implant. I explained that I won't be coming back to their office and the reasons why. "we will let Dr. Shimane know" was the response. Instead I went to my regular dentist who is the one that referred me to him to check out the healing. She did notice that next tooth to the extraction site was exposing its root due to the shrinkage of the gum. I believe that Dr. Shimane either did not do the bone graft correctly or removed too much gum tissue out during the extraction. She then referred me to a different surgeon. She stated that Dr. Shimane asked her to apologize to me on his behalf. He never called me about this situation. His concern was not about me the patient but about my dentist to continue referring patients to him. Perfect example of a health professional in the field solely for the money, and very little passion for the work or the patients itself. I now have anxiety about going to the dentist after that panic attack in his office. Something I have to deal with and plus that exposed root. He caused nothing but more problems for me. Please don't go here. All they care about is your money nothing else. Very unprofessional place. PS. It's been a couple months now, Dr. Shimane never called me about the situation. He probably thought its over, she didn't post a review right away, its done with. I would not be surprised that he contacts me now that I have posted this review. But it does not matter. I feel like this information needs to be out there so others don't end up in the same situation as I am.

As always, it was a pleasure working with Dr.Shimane and his staff. This was my second experience, same procedure different area. From the beginning, the staff has always been polite, welcoming and professional. Both consultations with Dr.Shimane were detailed and full of options and none of my questions went unanswered. My first procedure was so quick and easy that when I needed an another (emergency) procedure there was no question of who to call. I definitely recommend Shimane Oral Surgery to anyone looking to have work done and feel confident about it. You'd be in good hands. A.

I recently just got my wisdom teeth pulled out and I loved how fast and easy it was! The sevice was excellent and everyone who worked there made me feel safe and relaxed. I was really surprised how great the service was because of bad past experiences so I really appreciate their work and professionalism!

When I was looking for an oral surgeon I went out on social media and asked for recommendations in my area. I couldn't believe how many people recommended him. With that being said, I had a root canal gone bad extracted and prepped for a dental implant. Dr. Shimane's knowledge and professionalism put me at ease for the procedure I previously dreaded until I had my consultation with him. On the day of my surgery, he and his surgical staff made me relaxed and comfortable. My procedure went just like they said and I had no problems at all.
