Dr. Chris Huff is a fellow instructor at the Kois Center in Seattle and comes from Louisiana where he has had a private practice for the last fourteen years. He, his wife and two sons are enthusiastic about making Bend their new home.Dr. Huff is a talented practitioner that will seamlessly integrate into our practice. We feel very fortunate to have Dr. Huff join the Shevlin Dental Team; he is a dentist with similar training, patient care philosophy and vision.

With 36 years of practice experience, Dr. Matt Falkenstein continues to enjoy helping you improve your comfort, wellness, and appearance. Dr. Falkenstein is very thorough and careful to evaluate your dental condition and discuss how you are doing well, your risk areas, and any questions you have about your care. Whether I am treating a complex comprehensive case that requires several months and phases of treatment or providing basic dental care to a patient, my greatest joy in dentistry is found in the day-to-day and year-to-year relationships built with the patients. These relationships carry over to the great staff I am fortunate to have as well. Without their trust, support, and teamwork, I could not provide the high level of care that I strive to. I also love the continual learning and teaching aspects of this job. Understanding how dental disease and problems can affect a persons overall health, well-being and quality of life is a key factor in treating that individual successfully.At the end of the day, I can help my patient understand his or her dental condition and options for care. This profession means a true commitment to gaining and maintaining the education necessary to provide patients with the finest dental care the profession has to offer. I attended the University of Arizona, graduating in 1992 with my Bachelor of Arts degree in English. I continued on to the Oregon Health Sciences University where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2000. I completed my Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at the University of California Los Angeles in 2001.

Health care, especially dentistry, is constantly evolving and improving. Since graduating from my post-doctoral residency at U.C.L.A., I have averaged well over 100 hours of continuing education a year focusing on esthetic and implant dentistry. For the last eight years I have been involved with the Kois Center in Seattle, Washington where I completed coursework in all aspects of restorative dentistry over a 3-year period. After completing this curriculum in 2010 I achieved Clinical Instructor status. As a Clinical Instructor I help facilitate intensive 3-day classes on topics that help dentists understand how to provide comprehensive cosmetic dentistry in a manner that increases predictability and longevity of treatment, while reducing the patients risk for requiring additional dental treatment. This type of forum is unique in that treatment philosophies, dental materials and dental equipment are under constant review to find what is most predictable for treating patients. The end result is delivering the highest level in patient care.

Since moving to Bend local and world community service has been an important focus of mine. Since arriving in 2001, I have given my time to the H.M. Kemple Clinic providing dental care to the underprivileged children in central Oregon. For the last eight years I have been an active Rotarian in the Mt. Bachelor Rotary Club and in 2008, I led a small group of Rotarians to Mujule, Mexico in Baja Sur to a rural health clinic to provide dental care to the local population in need. In July and August of 2010, I traveled to Ladakh, India in the northern Himalayas to provide dental care to the students and staff of a Buddhist boarding school. None of these people had previously had any type of health care provider.

I am a native Oregonion originally from Eugene, and have resided in Bend since 2001. My wife, Lynnette, and I have one son, Jack, two daughters, Sophie and Romi, and a Yellow Lab named Cal. Spending time with my family outdoors skiing, fishing and cycling is my favorite way to spend my free time. When I get the chance, I love to go back to Eugene to enjoy University of Oregon college athletic events as well as traveling outside the U.S. to experience and enjoy as much of the world as possible.

Dr. Christopher Huff is known for his kind and relaxed nature. His emphasis on patient comfort and his dedication to continuing education enable him to provide patients with the best quality care. Dr. Huff has a wide range of experience in dentistry, from cosmetic and restorative dentistry to surgical treatments.

Upon completing his education, Dr. Huffs service in the Air Force landed him at the Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas providing dentistry for our service members. After completing his military service, Dr. Huff moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and continued his dental career providing care to families in a general dentistry practice. Dr. Huff and his wife then moved to Lafayette, Louisiana, his wifes hometown, seizing the opportunity to run his own dental practice. It is there that he has provided comprehensive care for the last fourteen years.

Dr. Huff has two boys, Clay and Andrew, and has been married to his wife, Ann, for twenty-one years. They love hiking, camping, traveling and exploring the National Parks. They have also been trying to catch a Major League Baseball game at all the ball-parks in the country.

After thirty-seven years in practice, I have made the decision to retire.Caring for patients has been exciting, fun, and provided great challenges. My profession has allowed me to express my learning, skills, and abilities, through dental care and connecting with others. Providing dentistry for many different personalities is always new, and my greatest reward is going home every day knowing that I have made a meaningful and positive change in someones life. It has been a privilege to have cared for the generations of families at Shevlin Dental Center.

I received my Bachelors Degree in Biology from the University of Texas in Austin in 1979. Afterward, I earned my Doctorate of Dental Science (DDS) from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, graduating in 1984.

Although I completed my formal education in 1984, dental technology has gone through revolutionary changes, with hundreds of new dental products and techniques introduced every year. Attending 100-250 hours of continuing education yearly, I stay up-to-date with new techniques that benefit my patients and improve my skills, such as performing treatment with porcelain veneers and utilizing other minimally invasive options.

Cutting edge dentistry is not about new, flashy, aggressively marketed gadgets. To truly be cutting edge, I need to know the researchclinical and laboratoryand product tests to understand what works best for my patients.

For me, dentistry never gets stale. I am a doctor, detective, artist, scientist, technician, engineer, builder, counselor, and advocateall in one profession. Wearing those hats, I help people achieve their goals. I have trained with many respected and world-renowned dental clinicians and work only with specialists I have selected based on their skill and judgment. Drawing from such resources, I offer a broad scope of experience.

I am proud to have a team of unique and experienced individuals. Many of our team members have been here over 20 years. Our individualized, comprehensive treatment plans demand that our team members are intelligent, organized and compassionate toward our patientssharing a passion for making people feel great. I am originally from Dallas, Texas and love living in Bend! My wife, Teresa, has been a professional vocalist since age 13. We have two children. Zoey is our 28-year-old daughter, and Miles, our son, is 23.

For three decades I have been involved with dental charities to provide comprehensive care for children and adults in need. Kids in Need of Dentistry (KIND), Miles for Smiles (a bus that travels to rural areas to provide dental care), Kemple Clinic (providing free care for kids), and Oregon MOM (Mission of Mercy, providing free care to thousands of people in need. Shevlin Dental Center also sponsors many local community events supporting sports, the arts, and local charities.

I have presented many seminars, hosted clinical presentations for dentists and specialists and supported the profession of dentistry for many years. I have been President of two dental societies, been a member on the Board of Trustees for the Colorado Dental Association and was on the State Peer Review Board.

The Kois Center (an advanced, post-graduate training institute) in Seattle, has given me the honor of Clinical Instructor. I assist with instruction and training of other dentists in advanced, scientifically based dental methods. I love helping other dentists achieve higher levels of excellence.
