Dr. Sherwood was born in the town of Panhandle Texas. Growing up in a small town gave him many unique opportunities to be active in various sports, music, and even raising and showing livestock at the Carson County Stock Show. He attended the University of Texas at Austin for his undergraduate studies where he met his future wife Krista and made many lifelong friends and memories. He attended dental school in San Antonio at the University of Texas Health Science Center. During dental school he realized he had an aptitude and passion for Pediatric Dentisty. After graduating Cum Laude with his DDS degree in 1996,Dr Sherwood completed his post-doctoral residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and has been in private practicein Austin since 1998.Dr. Sherwoods passion is caring for children with special needs. As the father of a child with cerebral palsy, he has a unique and compassionate perspective on helping to care for children with a variety of disabilities and challenges.
Dr. Sherwood has served hundreds of hours over many years caring for children with severe and lifelong disabilities.Dr. Sherwood is married to Krista and the couple has four wonderful children: Grant, Gabby, Garrett and Gregory.
The Sherwoods are members of Grace Covenant Church.In his spare time, Dr Sherwood loves to cook, exercise, watch movies with his family, and play fetch with Daisy, the family Golden Retriever and queen of the house.

Our business manager David handles the insurance and accounting processes for the practice, as well as coordinating the advertising and community/school support functions for our practice. David joined the Sherwood team in 2006 and lists Dr. Sherwoods commitment to excellence as his favorite part of working here. David also has a successful real estate business that spans over 27 years.
Dr. Mai Luk steps in for Dr Sherwood from time to time. Her smile is contagious and her demeanor is instantly welcoming! Dr. Luk was born in Vietnam, but grew up in Oklahoma City until her family moved to Austin during her freshman year in high school.
Dr. Luk graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002 with a BA in Biology. After starting a family, she went back to school for dentistry. In 2016, Dr. Luk graduated with honors from UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry, and subsequently was accepted into the pediatric residency program there. She completed her two-year residency in June of 2018.
Our registered dental hygienist Marna has worked with Sherwood Pediatric Dentistry since 2010 when she was hired to cover for another employees extended leave. Since then, Marna has regularly worked to support our team whenever needed, and she also served as an instructor at Skyview Dental Careers from 2018-2020.
Theres something about Mary! Whether it's her ready smile or compassionate care of every patient, your day is always better after seeing her! Originally from Central Wisconsin, Mary has called Austin home since moving here in the 1990's. Mary's experience in the dental field spans 20 years, and she is well versed in all aspects of dental assisting.
In her free time, Mary enjoys spending time with friends and family, and has especially enjoyed attending gymnastics competitions while raising her two beautiful daughters. A lover of travel, gardening, and listening to live music, Mary enjoys staying active and participating in all the fun things that Austin and Central Texas have to offer!
Tayde (or Ty) is the administrative director and treatment coordinator for our practice. Ty expertly assures that Dr. Sherwood's schedule runs smoothly and that your familys information is current and complete. Ty came to our practice as a temporary assistant in 2017, and after only a short time, our team unanimously agreed we wanted her here permanentlywhatever it would take! Ty is a certified dental assistant, the highest level of certification, which is only obtained after the highest levels of education and experience. Ty previously served as a surgical dental assistant at Dell Childrens Medical Center.

As a practice that sees only children infants through teens and those with special needs weve designed our space to be kid-friendly and fun. We even have ceiling-mounted TVs so kids can watch their favorite movies during visits!
