Dogwood Family Dental was established in June 2004 and has served the Flowood, MS community from Hugh Ward Blvd since 2010. We are a family dental practice that focuses on each patients individual oral health needs and smile goals, and we love seeing patients of all ages and at all stages of life. Dr. Amy Sherman earned her DMD from the University of Mississippi's School of Dentistry in 2003. That same year, she began her career as a dentist in Brookhaven, MS. After a year of practicing dentistry there, she pursued her own path and opened Dogwood Family Dental. Dr. Sherman and her team have been serving families in Flowood and the surrounding areas since June 2004, and they look forward to many more years of creating healthy, happy smiles.

Dr. Sherman loves meeting new patients, greeting familiar faces, and helping them achieve their dental health goalswhether it's full-mouth rehabilitation to restore their smile or routine preventive care to maintain optimal oral health. Dr. Sherman is nothing short of a dental care dynamo, and she enjoys all aspects of dentistry, from tooth-colored fillings and crowns to gentle extractions and attractive dentures.

Dr. Sherman and her husband Hal have been married for 18 years and have two teenagers. They spend most nights and weekends cheering on their son playing soccer and baseball and their daughter playing soccer and tennis. Dr. Sherman also enjoys cooking delicious meals for her family and playing tennis in her free time.

Shelly is one of our experienced and highly skilled dental assistants. Shelly earned her training at Dogwood Family Dental and received her radiology certification from Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi. Her dental assisting career began with our team in 2007, and Shelly enjoys helping patients achieve their optimal oral health and wellness. In her spare time, Shelly and her husband Wayne enjoy spending time with their two children, Landon and Blaklee. A very active family, they spend their nights and weekends attending various activities, including baseball, archery, softball, dance, and Girl Scouts.

April is a dental hygienist who has been working with Dr. Sherman since 2004. She earned her associate's degree from Hinds Community College and her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

As a dental hygienist, April helps patients maintain their oral health through screenings, cleanings, and other types of preventive care.Her favorite aspect of dentistry is getting to know each patient personally. She also enjoys meeting each patient's individual oral hygiene needs so they can have a healthy smile for life.

April has been married to her husband Keith for 20 years, and they have three children. Their oldest child is an avid hunter and enjoys being outdoors, and their middle child enjoys being on the high school cheer squad, volleyball team, and soccer team. Their youngest child enjoys playing Fortnite and soccer. When not at work, you can find April's family enjoying their time together on the ball field, hunting, or fishing.

Jennifer is a dental hygienist who graduated from Millsaps College and the University of Mississippi Medical Center in dental hygiene. Jennifer has been a valued member of Dogwood Family Dental's team since 2014. As a dental hygienist, Jennifer provides routine cleanings, periodontal therapy, fluoride treatment, instructions for oral health maintenance. She also takes x-rays, intraoral images, impressions for occlusal guards, and initial photos for Invisalign. Ultimately, Jennifer strives to make patients comfortable and provide great care.

I love getting to know my patients and learning about their lives and families. I love how I get to learn about so many different occupations and different subjects. It makes me so happy to see patients that first come in and are in not-so-great shape or are nervous about being at the dental office but who become compliant with their home care having great oral health.

Outside of the dental office, Jennifer spends time with her husband of 21 years, Jeremy. They have a daughter, Carolyn Jane, 15, who has special needs. She has cerebral palsy, seizure disorder, and global delays. She requires a lot of their time and energy, but her smile and love make it all worth it. Jennifer is a five-year breast cancer survivor, but she still has to do chemo every three weeks for maintenance. Her loving and supportive family and group of friends keep her motivated and encouraged. Jennifer also loves hanging out with her group of girlfriends, watching true-crime shows, baking cookies, and taking naps.

Caitlyn is a dental hygienist who received a bachelors degree in Biology at Millsaps College and a bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene at the University of MS Medical Center. Caitlyn helps assess and improve patients oral health and instructs them in proper oral hygiene for healthier, happier smiles.

She started her career in the dental field as an assistant office manager in 2013 and joined the Dogwood Family Dental team as a dental hygienist in 2019.Her favorite part about her job is seeing patients every six months, forming relationships with them, and learning about their work, kids, interests, and hobbies.

Caitlyns husband Jimmy is also passionate about healthcare, and he works as a nurse at UMMC. They have two young children, Parker Jett and Rowan. They spend their weekends grilling out with family and friends and support their kids favorite pastimessoccer, baseball, and dance. Caitlyn and Jimmy look forward to traveling in the future. Their goal is to visit all 50 states.

Lisa is our financial coordinator and has been a valued member of Dogwood Family Dental since 2007. A graduate of Mississippi State University, Lisa uses her specialized knowledge and attention to detail to make quality dentistry financially available to our patients. Shecommunicates with patients about their treatment plan, identifies the best way to finance their treatment, and makes financial arrangements with our patients.

Lisa enjoys developing personal relationships with patients and learning new details about their lives. She cherishes the time she spends with her family, including her husband of 38 years, three adult children, and three beautiful grandchildren.

Carolyn graduated from Pearl High School and attended Hinds Community College for two years. She received on-the-job training in dental assisting, and after assisting for several years, she moved to the front office. Carolyn has been in the dentistry field since 1990, and she began her career at Dogwood Family Dental in 2011.

Carolyn greets patients and enjoys being the first smiling face patients see when they arrive. She believes in creating a friendly, welcoming, and safe atmosphere where patients feel comfortable and confident in our team's care.
