Dr. Ji grew up in Nanjing, China and moved with his family to Redding, California at the age of 14. Dr. Jis father was a well-known oral surgeon trained in head neck oncology in China. With early exposure to the field, Dr. Ji gained an interest in dentistry and oral surgery at a young age. His interest in oral surgery continued to develop during his dental training at prestigious UCSF and he pursued specialized training in oral and maxillofacial surgery after graduating from UCSF dental school.
Dr. Ji enjoys being an oral surgeon for the simple fact that he enjoys helping patients. He finds his job incredibly rewarding because he gets to do what he loves every day. He views each patient as his own family and works diligently to help each patient regain comfort and dental health. Oral surgery combines all of his interests and allows him to take care of patients in a full scope.
Dr. Ji received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Immunology, and Genetics at UCLA in 2009. After completing his undergraduate study, he pursued a dental education at the University of California, San Francisco. In 2013, he graduated top of his class with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS). Thereafter, Dr. Ji furthered his education by pursuing a medical degree. He believes having both dental and medical training allows him to provide the most comprehensive and safe care to his patients. He graduated from University of Texas, Southwestern in 2016 and continued on to complete his specialty training in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Ji completed his six-year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at one of the nations premier training programs, UT Southwestern/Parkland. During this period, Dr. Ji trained alongside surgeons and anesthesiologists. He learned the full scope of oral and maxillofacial procedures and trained in the safe administration of all forms of anesthesia. These additional years of training make Dr. Ji the most qualified dental professional to perform a wide range of procedures, including IV sedation, wisdom teeth removal, and dental implant placement.
Outside of work, Dr. Ji enjoys spending time with his wife and their dog Moki. He also likes photography, traveling, and being active in the great outdoors. He is excited to explore the beautiful natural sceneries around the greater Sacramento area.

Hello, this is my wife's account i am posting on. I visited Dr. Sheng today to have a tooth pulled the Novocain shot he gave me was by far the most painful shot I've ever had my entire life of dental work. also I had another tooth pulled several years earlier right next to the one he pulled and was nowhere nearly as painfull! I'm not sure if the numbing gel beforehand wasn't applied properly or they didn't wait long enough before putting the needle into the gum. The tooth pull was quick and painless though. this is the first time i have ever posted a review. it was that painfull!!! otherwise they were very nice and informative.

Everyone was super nice and professional, I was nervous for my wisdom tooth removal but the process was quick and painless. The recovery was quick and I couldn't be more happy with the outcome. Highly recommend Dr. Ji if you need your wisdom teeth pulled :)

Doctor Ji is very knowledgeable and helped alleviate my concerns I had about my broken jaw. He provided me with care instructions other doctors hadn't mentioned. He's is very caring, and accommodating.

I absolutely loved this dentist! What can I say, he was very knowledgeable and explained every step of the way. His staff were also superb. The doctor called me the very next day to see that everything was going good after my oral surgery. They are awesome.

I work for a company that requests 5 star experiences for oral surgery practices so I've heard the good and the bad (you would understand the anxiety I would get). I did my own research for an oral surgeon near me that would take me in immediately due to the pain I was having from my wisdom teeth. Dr. Ji has outstanding bedside manner! I was very surprised that he inserted the IV himself. It was the most smoothest & painless IV insertion I have ever experienced. It was an absolute breeze, I literally had zero bruising from it. It's so funny because I was so nervous about the extractions that were going to take place and he reassured me that the IV was the worst part of the procedure but he lied ;) because in fact the whole process was so smooth and painless from the consultation to the aftercare. He and his assistant walked me through the whole process and told me what they were going to do and what to expect. The day of the procedure I was very scared and one of his assistants offered to cover me up to keep me warm. They are so caring and kind! They made me feel calm and comfortable. The aftercare instructions they provided were on point and were very helpful. Dr. Ji is very personable, he himself called me that very evening to check and see how I was doing. My husband and I really appreciated that. They go above and beyond. The services he provides are affordable. I will definitely recommend Dr. Ji and his amazing team to others!

Dr. Ji and his staff are absolutely amazing. I had a molar extraction and an implant put in the same day and I was so nervous about the procedure, but the staff and Dr. Ji made the experience so easy and comfortable. Dr. Ji is so intelligent, has great bedside manners and his assistants were so sweet and took such good care of me. Dr. Ji also called me personally that evening after my surgery to check on me. This is definitely going above and beyond the call of duty. I would give him and his staff 10 stars if I could.

Loved Dr. Sheng Hi, his hygienist, and the administrative assistants. Super professional, knowledgeable, and excellent customer service. I went in today to get my upper wisdom removed. I was super scared but he removed them in the most comfortable way. Dr. Sheng hi was careful, gentle with me and quick. He was also patient -answering all my questions and concerns! He also took the time to call me after the procedure to ensure I was okay and to call if I experience any other issues or have questions. I'm so grateful to God I came here. I came because I was referred by my dentist and after I saw all the wonderful reviews on Google. I highly recommend this place. You won't regret it!

Great place. I, like many, have anxiety with the dentist. So needing to get teeth pulled I was very scared. The two month wait (insurance issues) didn't help my nerves either. Everyone was kind, respectful of my feelings and professional. By the end of the experience I'm definitely not anxious anymore!

I have extreme anxiety when it comes to visiting a dentist (let alone a maxillofacial surgeon for wisdom teeth removal). With that being said, Dr. Ji and especially his back office staff were extremely kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable! Words can't express enough how well taken care of and comforted I was during all visits. Couldn't recommend this office enough! Thank you Dr. Ji!!!

I met with Dr. Ji to consult about tooth extraction and implants. He explained everything so well and gave me plenty of time for questions. He put me right at ease. He and his staff are very professional and at the same time very warm and caring. He gets an A++ from me!
