Dr. Andy Shelly grew up in Fort Dodge graduating from High School in 1989. He then attended Luther College in Decorah, IA for three years of predoctoral studies before entering the College of Dentistry at the University of Iowa. Upon receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree after the four years of study, he continued at the University for an additional two years earning his Masters of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics.
Since graduating in 1998, he has been in private practice in Fort Dodge providing exceptional orthodontic care to both children and adults. Dr. Andy maintains active memberships with the American Association of Orthodontists, the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists, the Iowa Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, and the Fort Dodge District Dental Society.
While not at work, Dr. Andy enjoys spending time with his wife Monica, and their two children, Charlie and Caroline. He enjoys cooking, working outdoors in the yard/garden, hiking, biking, kayaking, snow skiing, and live musical performance.
This is Dani Beck she is one of our receptionists. She has been working at Shelly Orthodontics PC since July of 2017. Dani is recently engaged to Brandon and they are planning a wedding for June of 2019 and just purchased their first home!
Her favorite thing about working at Shelly Orthodontics PC is the fun and laid back atmosphere and really enjoys working in the Orthodontics specialty. She enjoys decorating, shopping and spending time with her fianc and friends/family.
Fun facts about Dani, if she could have any superhuman power, she would pick invisibility. She is currently watching the Walking Dead on Netflix. If she could only eat one thing for the rest of her life, it would definitely be French fries! (Great pick).
We are very excited to welcome Liz Allison back to the Shelly Orthodontic team! Liz worked with us previously as an Orthodontic Assistant when we were Mergen & Shelly (15 years ago). We are elated to have her back with us. Liz lives in Badger with her Husband Roy. They have one daughter Makalya. Liz is an animal lover (we love animal lovers). She has 'Lily' a spoiled and privileged Chihuahua, 'Mango' a dysfunctional Parrot, 'Big Rhonda' an overweight Hamster and a Frog Sanctuary in her backyard. Her hobbies include: gardening, camping with friends/family, and puzzles. It is so good to have her awesome and giggly personality back on the team!
This is Lori Read. Lori is our entire insurance department, software/tech extraordinaire, and many other behind the scenes business operations! She has been working at Shelly Orthodontics PC since December of 1988.
One of her favorite things about working at Shelly Orthodontics PC is the understanding and flexibility which allowed her to be both a mom and continue to work. As well, she really enjoys interacting with patients and parents.
If you ever call our office and get transferred to Lori who takes care of insurance this is her. Lori has two dogs Bella and August and two cats, Jazmin, and Orange Leaf. Fun facts about Lori: The superhuman power she wished she had is the ability to fly.
A skill she wished she had but does not, is she wishes she could back up a boat trailer! (Perhaps there is a good story behind this one. Something interesting about Lori that most people don't know is that she enjoys and is pretty good at woodworking furniture. We are so fortunate to have Lori at our office.
This is Tiffany Green. Tiffany is one of our Orthodontic Assistant-- she began at the end of July 2019 with us. Tiffany is married to Brenan -- they have 2 dogs, 2 pot-bellied pigs, 4 goats and chickens!! We so love that she is an animal lover:) Her hobbies include teaching tumbling, hunting, golfing, and spending time with friends and family. Her favorite middle school/high school memory is getting to participate at state dance every year! We are so excited to have Tiffany as a part of our amazing team here at Shelly Orthodontics!!
This is Megan Johnson. Megan is our Orthodontic Assistant -- she just began in October 2018 with us. Megan has one son Maxwell Lee Johnson-- he is 16 months old:) She grew up in and presently lives in Humboldt, Iowa with her husband, 2 dogs and 5 cats. All of her animals are rescues -- which we think is so cool--she has a heart of gold. Her favorite Middle School/High School memory is playing softball. When asked what super human power she wishes she had -- she said to 'read minds'. We are so very very excited to have Megan as a part of the Shelly Orthodontic team!

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Shelly and his staff. They've worked around my extremely busy work/life schedule and never got upset with my many rescheduled appts. Dr. Shelly is the most gentle orthodontist I have ever met and I've had 3 due to moving across the US. I love my teeth and am so proud of the progress! Thank you.

Bad experience only wanted to discuss insurance and payment plans. Didn't discuss the issue why I was referred there with my son. Talked about length of time to fix issues but didn't want to really discuss issues or how to fix them. Just made a few guess on what was wrong but didn't want to look till insurance & payment plan set up.

They are very friendly and professional staff. They could always get my son in for any emergency issues he had with his braces.

My 7 year old daughter said this after our initial free consultation: "I love Dr. Shelly better than the dentist. I don't even get scared going there. I'm going to get a sparkly thing in my mouth and I got to pick the colors." Thank you SO much for a great experience. She is usually anxious about seeing the dentist and the doctor.

We switched to Dr. Shelly after having a bad experience with another orthodontist. My daughter was born with a cleft lip and palate, so she had specific dental needs requiring a palate expander and timing of surgeries. Dr. Shelly worked with us to find a way to creatively create space in my daughter's mouth (something the other orthodontist refused to do) to prepare her for surgery. He communicates with our other dental specialists and cleft team members to give our daughter the best care. All the employees are friendly and the office is updated and clean. I highly recommend this orthodontic practice.
