Educated at the Medical University of South Carolina and Yale-New Haven Hospital, Dr. Shelbourne is board certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. His residency training stressed anesthesia/pain control for both children and adults, removal of wisdom teeth, soft and hard tissue reconstruction for dental/facial implants, corrective jaw surgery for children and adults, facial trauma repair and reconstruction, and evaluation and treatment of various oral pathology and TMJ disorders.
Utilizing the leadingNobel Biocare Dental Implant system, Dr. Shelbourne continues to perform more All-on-4 procedures than any other surgeon in South Carolina. As the first surgeon in South Carolina certified to place the zygomatic implant, he is also able to provide care to patients with severe bone loss. He holds membership in multiple dental societies and has hospital privileges at Roper Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and East Cooper Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Shelbourne enjoys waterskiing, traveling, gardening, architecture, and spending time with his six children and his wife Rhiannon. He is also an active volunteer in the community, and is passionate about improving the lives of orphans and at-risk children.

My time was not valued which means I was not valued. I was in an office room for 40mins waiting to see the doctor. Finally, I had enough of waiting and walked out. They tell you to fill out forms before your appointment and then the same forms have to be filled out at the office. Horrible experience and a waste of time for something so minor.

After a bad experience with another local oral surgeon, we moved to Shelbourne and have had an excellent experience. All of the care we have received from scheduling, to billing, to treatment, and aftercare has been above our expectations. The team is friendly and answers all of our questions. I'm not a patient. Almost was .. but was turned off by the text telling me to not show up for my first appointment without first paying the consultation fee. This was a red flag and made me look deeper past all those 5 star reviews and I found too many that report enticements like Starbucks coffee for 5 star reviews and others reporting that an under $100 balance they might not have known about was sent to collections.

I've lived all over the country and have seem numerous doctors in the dental field. Dr. Shelbourne is hands down the best in the industry and his staff in just as awesome. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Shelbourne and his staff are friendly and gladly take the time to answer all of my questions. I have to have an implant and am very anxious and they made me feel more comfortable after my consultation. I highly recommend his office for your oral surgeons' needs.

I have been a patient of Dr. Shelbourne's for close to twenty years. I wouldn't consider going to anyone else for my oral surgery needs. Dr. Shelbourne is the best oral surgeon in the Tri-County area - compassionate and excellent in meeting his patients' needs. He is there when you have problems and for the joys of having your teeth made whole and healthy. His office staff members are equally kind and helpful in making a tough situation better for each individual patient. Bouquets to all of you!!!

Went here about a year ago, paid in full. Suddenly they sent 90$ to collections with no bill email or phone call. Terrible practice. Ruining patients credit without notifying them of a bill. Your credit is too important to be trusted with people who will sell whatever debt without asking for payment to a collection agency.
