Shawna L. Hawk, DDS operates a family-oriented dental practice in Washington D.C., proudly providing Spring Valley, Cleveland Park, and surrounding areas with quality, friendly service. Since taking over the practice in 1999, Dr. Hawk has continued to serve the community and has worked to educate her patients on oral health care. Many of our patients have been coming to our office for over 27 years, and were always happy to welcome more into our family.
Our dental practice strives to build relationships with each of our patients. We firmly believe that meticulous attention by our staff builds a foundation of trust and enables us to provide the highest level of care.
Our Washington D.C dental practice is passionate about prevention and stresses the importance of gum and tissue health. As a team, we utilize patient education to support lasting wellness and strong smiles. In taking a proactive approach to dental care, we can head off potential issues before they materialize. We thoroughly enjoy improving patients well-being and treating their most significant concerns.
Prior to your first visit to our office, well ask that you fill out paperwork online. This allows us to cut down on wait times and provide you with less hassle during your visit. If youre new to our office, well take X-rays, perform a cleaning, and create a long-term treatment plan or discuss any treatment youre considering. We play soothing music throughout the office to help patients feel at-ease.
Our staff is a group of skilled professionals, each of whom is committed to continuing education and remaining on the cutting-edge of new technologies in our industry. Dr. Hawk is a member of the American Dental Society and D.C. Dental Society and takes an active role in understanding the latest research, changes, and recommendations for our profession.

As a dental professional, I stay up to date on the latest advancements in dentistry in order to provide the most current treatment options for my patients. As a doctor, I recognize that my patients are unique individuals who have placed a great deal of trust in me and my team. That is just one reason why I value each and every patient relationship.
Dr. Shawna Hawk has been a practicing dentist for 27 years in the D.C. metropolitan area. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Hygiene, and then began her dental career as a Registered Dental Hygienist. After deciding that she wanted to further her career as a dentist, she obtained her doctorate from Georgetown's School of Dentistry in 1990.
Dr. Hawk is a current member of the American Dental Association and D.C. Dental Society. She previously attended the Dawson Academy and is a current member of Spear Study Club, where she invests time in keeping abreast of continuing education topics.
In her spare time Dr. Hawk enjoys reading, antiquing, and finding hidden treasures in consignment shops. She also enjoys spending time at the beach with her husband, Mark. Dr. Hawk is an avid dog lover, and is the proud mom of a yellow Labrador named Gus.

Shawna Hawk is the best dentist I've ever had. I've been seeing her for over 18 years. She is gentle, explains everything thoroughly, and makes going to the dentist as pleasant as possible. She and the rest of her staff are all the nicest people. I've had quite a lot of extensive dental work, and I travel a good distance to see Dr. Hawk, because she's excellent, and worth the trip. I trust her to give me high quality dental care. I highly recommend her dental practice.

Dr. Hawk explains every step of her treatment, including changes that develop while it is in progress. She constantly monitors comfort levels and takes every possible step to ensure that the patient's needs are met. Her staff is experienced, knowledgeable, and functions smoothly with her throughout all procedures. I'm not happy when problems develop with my teeth, but after many years of experience with Dr. Hawk's care, I am always absolutely confident that she will help ensure that I have good outcomes!
