Born and raised in the Yakima Valley, Dr. McDevitt graduated from the University of Washingtons School of Dentistry in 1996 with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. His strong family ties encouraged him to return to Yakima to pursue his dental career. In 2007, Dr. McDevitt received certification as a Doctor of Sedation Dentistry. He is excited to offerthis additional valuable service to his clients.
Dr. McDevitt continues his dental education through active involvement in the Yakima Prosthodontic and Implant Study Club, along with pursuit ofcontinuing education from Dr. Gordon Christensen seminars, Dr. Frank Spear seminars, Pride Institute for Dental Management, and DOCs oral sedation courses.
Dr. McDevitt currently resides in Yakima with his wife, Diane, and their two dogs. Together, they raised their two children, Lauren and Tristan, in Selah, where the kids followed in Dr. McDevitts footsteps by graduating from Selah High School. In his free time, Dr. McDevitt can often be found boating with his family at his favorite vacation spot on Lake Pend Oreille in Sandpoint, Idaho. He also enjoys skiing, hiking, and travel.

Hi, my name is Micayla, and I am a dental assistant. I have been working with Dr. McDevitt since March 2018. I started my dental career in 2015 and I enjoy providing great quality care for the patients, as well as my team. I love working with Dr. McDevitt and the rest of the team becausethey all have real motivation for their work and have taught me more than I could imagine!

I started working with the previous dental practice herein 1978. In 1998, I transitioned to Dr. Shawn McDevitts team after he bought the practice. In addition to providing care in private practice, I have also been a clinical instructor at the Yakima Valley College dental hygiene clinic since 1977.
I started my dental career in 2005 when I attended Apollo College dental assisting program in Spokane. After working as an assistant for five years, I decided to expand my dental education and moved to Portland,where I received my dental hygiene degree. In 2017, I returned with my husbandto the Yakima Valley where I was born and raised. I joined the McDevitt dental team in the fall of 2017. I take pride in patient care and continuing education.
For the past decade, we have been offering sedation dentistry, whichonly a handful of dentists in the area can provide. This is becoming more popular, and we arrange sedation dentistry foran increasing number of patients. If youre nervous about seeing the dentist or just curious about sedation dentistry, well be happy to answer all your questions.
