Dr. Douglas Shaw was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated with honors from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Medical Biology. During his undergraduate education, he took a two-year hiatus to volunteer as a missionary for his church on the islands of Samoa in the South Pacific. He experienced the culture and found a place in his heart for service.
Dr. Rasmussen, known by his patients as Dr. Razz, grew up in Midland, Texas. He competed in Taekwondo and golf at state and national levels throughout his childhood, which taught him the importance of hard work and personal effort.
Dr. Shaw then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. SUNY is New Yorks #1 research University, and Dr. Shaw graduated #1 in his class and received clinical and academic honors. He was elected into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a national dental honor society.
During his dental education, Dr. Shaw participated in numerous outreach programs and served on the organization committee of the first-ever BOCA (Buffalo Outreach & Community Assistance) dental mission trip to the Kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific.
Dr. Shaw has always had a passion for orthodontics and received his Certificate from NOVA Southeastern University. It was there that he learned the skills necessary to improve his patients lives by creating functional and aesthetically pleasing smiles.
Additionally, Dr. Shaw earned a Master of Science degree for his thesis on digital vs. analog cranial base cephalometric superimpositions. His training has exposed him to a wide variety of treatment modalities and techniques.
Unlike many orthodontists, Dr. Shaw is exceptionally skilled at planning smiles because he has experience with cosmetic dentistry and aesthetic evaluation of the face. He believes that every patient deserves to have a smile designed just for them.
Dr. Shaw is one of the few dentists in the world trained in digital co-diagnosis, which allows you to pay a central role in the treatment planning process. Youll be engaged, better-informed, and play an active partner in planning your treatment.
Having lectured internationally, Dr. Shaw enjoys working with both local general dentists and specialists. He helps them create treatment plans to serve their patients better and educate the community about orthodontics.
He went on to UTs prestigious School of Dentistry at Houston, where he graduated top of his class, served as president of the student body, and won the schools first nationally-recognized Hinman Research Symposium Presidents Award for his work on researching Craniosynostosis.
Finally, Dr. Razz passed the rigorous American Board of Orthodontics certification process to become Board-certified, which involved demonstrating his orthodontic knowledge in front of 18 nationally-recognized orthodontists and researchers.
In his free time, Dr. Razz likes to play guitar and travel with Danielle. When hes not dishing up stunning, healthy smiles, Dr. Razz dishes up delicious mealshe and his dental school friends won a local BBQ competition with their buffalo and caramelized onion sliders!

Please read and have everything in writing. We including insurance paid over 6000. We were lead to believe this was for complete care in 2020. IT WAS NOT... They came at us today with a "phase 2" propaganda and a hefty price tag of 3000. I reread the contract and they would not honor the contract as complete care. That is after I had to prove with past emails that they charged us incorrectly. I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AND DISGUSTED WITH SIDE HUSSLE THEY CALL DENTAL CARE FOR A CHILD!!!! Now this child has used her lifetime benefits for care and did not get her teeth corrected as the representative lead us to believe. Shaw's excuse that person no longer works here and we only offer generic contracts "WE DO NOT HAVE A CRYSTAL BALL" So we have lost 2 yrs and 6000 and her teeth are no where near what teeth should be like. IF we would have continued as they requested PRICE TAG ALMOST 9000! NOW TELL ME THAT IS NOT A HUSSLE!

This place felt like a family. The staff was always so friendly. They took care of any problems I had. I even had an incidence, needing a paper for the military about my braces and they were more than willing to work with me while I was stressing about it. I would recommend this place to anyone. Truly an amazing place with amazing doctors and staff. And Dr. Rasmussen is my homie for life!

This place has been perfect to get my teen son on track to a better, stronger and beautiful smile! In the beginning of our journey, we went to 3 different orthodontists for quotes and treatment plans assessments(I'm big on 2nd and 3rd opinions) But Shaw won us! The only con for us was they are a little bit of a drive for us, but they were so helpful ,even when my son ran out of rubber bands they'd drop them in the mail and mail then to us, and the care was worth the traffic Lol. They have great attitudes and atmosphere And are very encouraging! My son's 2 year journey was just perfect and I'm so glad we went with you guys!Thank you so much!

We ABSOLUTELY love the whole team here!! They are always on time, so kind and listen. They take the time to do things right and always seem to have the patients best intentions at heart.
