Dr. Shannon Simons has been practicing orthodontics since 1995. She received her undergraduate degree from Tulane University and her dental degree from Louisiana State University. At LSU, Dr. Simons completed a one year advanced education program in general dentistry followed by a two year orthodontic residency program, earning a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. In 1995, she joined the private practice of Dr. Terence Walsh in Metairie, Louisiana. From 1996-1998, Dr. Simons traveled to the Roth Williams Center for Functional Occlusion in California and completed a comprehensive two year clinical continuing education program in Occlusion and Orthodontics. Dr. Simons practiced with Dr. Walsh until his retirement in 2000.
Dr. Simons has always loved the dental profession. Throughout high school and college, she enjoyed working in her fathers pediatric dental office. During her third year in dental school, while rotating through all of the different dental specialties, she realized her love for the field of orthodontics. Dr. Simons was amazed to see how smiles transformed with treatment and loved the opportunity to really get to know her patients over time.
Dr. Simons is a member of the F. Harold Wirth Study Club, the New Orleans Dental Association, the Louisiana Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Louisiana Association of Orthodontics, and the American Association of Orthodontics. She is a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome in Metairie, Louisiana. where she is involved in the Family Life committee and the adoration chapel. Dr. Simons serves on the board of ACCESS, Catholic Charities Pro Life and Adoption Service Outreach. She and her husband, Rodney, have three children, Claire, Christian, and Caleb and two fur babies CoCo and Chloe.
Dr. Simons Roth Williams Advanced Education training sets her apart. The Roth Williams technique furthers an orthodontists training to not only straighten teeth for an attractive smile, but also to correct the patients bite to keep teeth in harmony with jaw joints (TMJ) and facial muscles.Prior to explaining an individualized treatment plan and options, a Roth trained orthodontist studies a patients records.
If indicated , the Roth orthodontist will mount study models of your teeth on an instrument called an articulator, which is important in the analysis of the relationship between your teeth and your jaw joint. Roth orthodontists attempt to time the beginning of treatment so that braces can be placed on the 12 year molars. These teeth are closest to the jaw joints and have an effect on functional jaw movements. Occasionally, earlier treatment is indicated because certain problems are easier to correct at a younger age, thus preventing more severe problems later.
Dr. Simons is also a certified Invisalign provider. Through the use of an iTero intraoral scanner, Dr. Simons eliminates the need for impressions for her Invisalign patients. These scans also provide for a more accurate fitting of aligners.

I've been a patient of Dr Simmons for over 20 years. Even after 15 years post braces, she still takes time out of her busy schedule to personally answer any questions to ensure I'm still happy with my smile. She definitely goes that extra mile for any of her patients. In fact, most of my extended family had our smiles improved by her and her team!

Dr. Simons and her team are truly excellent at what they do. My daughter was very apprehensive about getting braces to the point where she was becoming overly anxious and afraid at the sheer mention of it. She was quite young at the time and needed correction on her front teeth when one of her baby teeth failed to come out even after the adult teeth grew in. After her first visit with Dr. Simons all of her fears went away. This office is not only very caring but explains everything carefully and does a great job with even the very youngest of patients. Dr. Simons will always give you full information but does not push for treatments that are not truly necessary. I would highly recommended this office to anyone.

Dr. Shannon is always on top of things. Her work is nothing less than perfect. I've had my braces off for 7 years and I've never had any problems with gaps or shifts in my teeth since then. Highly recommend!

Dr. Simmons is absolutely amazing! I had an issue with my retainers not fitting correctly and I was able to text her & she met me at her office, despite it being Sunday, and helped me to resolve the issue. She is always very kind and you can tell she truly cares for her patients. Her staff is very friendly/welcoming too. I'm very happy with my experience with them and I am super excited about my Invisalign results!

Dr. Simons is so professional and specializes in providing excellent orthodontic care. For my first visit, I had a consultation to determine if I was a candidate for Invisalign. It was very informative and allowed me to have a clear picture of what to expect in the following months. During the pandemic, she followed up to ensure I adjusted to my new Invisalign trays in between my appointments. I would definitely recommend her if you are looking to improve your smile. She completely transformed my smile.
