Dr. Shannon Norman-Kotre, Ann Arbor dentist, grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and moved to Ann Arbor in 1991 to attend the University of Michigan. She is a two-time graduate of U of M, earning first a B.A. in Psychology in 1995 and then her DDS from the School of Dentistry in 1999. While in dental school, she was a member of the Taft Society, a group of students who provided free dental care during Saturday clinics at the dental school.

Upon completion of her DDS, Dr. Norman-Kotre moved back to Western Michigan to work with her father, a dentist in Ada, Michigan, at Norman Family Dentistry. She also spent time at Newburgh Heights Dental, a large group practice in Westland, Michigan. She worked in those offices for two years, but her dream was to move back to her college town and become a dentist in Ann Arbor.

Her dream came true in 2002 when she acquired thedental practice of Carol Haggerty in 2002. After working with Dr. Haggerty for three years in Ypsilanti, Dr. Norman-Kotre moved the office to a new location in Ann Arbor in February of 2005.

Dr. Kotre is a member of the Washtenaw District Dental Society, the Michigan Dental Association (MDA), and the American Dental Association (ADA). She is also a member of the American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD) study club.

Dr. Kotre is a firm believer in giving back to the community that has given so much to her and her family over the years. She is a frequent fundraiser for the Salvation Army of Washtenaw County, donates dental care to those in need via the State of Michigan and Washtenaw Childrens Dental Clinic, and participates with Recycle Ann Arbor.

Dr. Kotre and her husband, Steve, met while Dr. Kotre was attending the University of Michigan. Steve and his family are long-time residents of Ann Arbor. They are the proud parents of two amazing boys, Noah (21), Ethan (19), and one incredible girl, Clare (15). Steve is an engineer for Ford Motor Company. The Kotres reside in beautiful Ann Arbor, where they are loyal season ticket holders for University of Michigan Football. Go Blue!

Dr. Kristin Nickodemus, DDS, PLC, was welcomed to our Ann Arbor dental practice in February of 2019. Dr. Nick was born and raised in Pewamo, Michigan, a small farming community 35 miles northwest of Lansing. She knew at an early age that she wanted a career in dentistry.

After graduating from Pewamo-Westphalia High School, she earned an associate's degree in Dental Assisting from Lansing Community College. After working in private practice for a year, she decided dental school was where she wanted to be. Dr. Nickodemus worked as a Registered Dental Assistant while attending evening classes at L.C.C. before transferring to Michigan State University to study Zoology and complete her pre-dental requirements.

She began dental school at the University of Michigan in 1995. While completing her studies and clinical work, she also tutored underclassmen in Gross Anatomy, Dental Anatomy, and Pre-Clinical Skills. She graduated from the U of M School of Dentistry in 1999 and was honored to receive the Francis B. Vedder Society of Crown and Bridge Prosthodontics Award and the Louis C. Schultz Award in Operative Rehabilitation.

Dr. Nick and her husband, Paul, are grateful to live in Ann Arbor with their three children, Ben, Laine, and Meg. When not chauffeuring kids to sporting events and choir practices, she loves spending time with family, reading, gardening, letterboxing, hiking, golfing, and skiing. Providing field trips for local preschools and elementary schools at her office has also been a very rewarding way for her to give back to the community.

Dr. Sarah Shoukr, DDS, was welcomed to our Ann Arbor dental practice in September of 2019. 'Dr. Sarah' was born in Tucson, AZ while her dad was obtaining his Ph.D. in Engineering. At age three, her family moved back to their home country, Egypt, where she grew up and finished her initial dental education. She decided to move back to the US with her husband in 2010 hoping to build a better, safer life for her little family.

After earning her Bachelors degree of Dentistry and Oral Surgery in 2008, she provided dental care to low-income families in Egypt for 2 years. When she moved to the States, Dr. Sarah worked as a dental assistant and as an orthodontic assistant while raising her firstborn daughter and passing the National Board Dental Examinations Part 1 and Part 2.

She earned her DDS degree at the University of Michigan in 2018, ranking in the top 15 students of her class. While completing her clinical work, she also volunteered at the Give Kids A Smile Clinic (treating pediatric patients for free), the Mouth Guard Clinic (creating free mouthguards for sports players), the Taft Clinic (providing preventive and restorative care), and with the Special Olympics (screening special-needs athletes), as well as providing oral health education to kids at a daycare facility.

Dr. Sarah is a Member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Michigan Dental Association (MDA), American Academy of Clear Aligners (AACA), Association of General Dentistry (AGD) and the Washtenaw District Dental Society. She is a lifelong learner and has completed a wide range of continuing education courses that surpass state requirements in order to expand the clinical services she can offer to her patients. Those courses include oral surgery, bone grafting, endodontics and Invisalign.

Dr. Sarah is truly passionate about providing the best quality of care to patients of all ages from patients as young as one year old to great grandmothers, treating each patient as if they were her own family member. She loves having the opportunity to help others achieve the smile of their dreams.

Dr. Sarah and her husband, George, have been married for 13 years and are grateful to live in Ann Arbor with their three daughters: Rebecca (a 4th-grader at St. Francis of Assisi School), Elena (3.5-year-old toddler) and Mikaela (18 months).
