Ever since he can remember, Dr. Smith has had positive experiences at the dentists office. He grew up with a huge gap in the middle of his front two teeth, and after undergoing orthodontic treatment as a teenager, he personally got to experience the amazing confidence boost that came from having a straighter, more attractive smile. At that point, he knew that he wanted to provide that very same happiness to the people around him and the rest is history.
After attending Arkansas State University, Dr. Smith achieved his dental doctorate at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Before opening his own dental office, he worked at a variety of different dental offices across Northeast Arkansas, Southeast Missouri, and Memphis, gaining lots of value experience along the way. As for continuing education, he has completed courses with companies like Nobel Biocare and Versah regarding dental implants, BOTOX/Juvederm training with the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, and hundreds of hours of online training through Dentaltown!
Dr. Smiths parents live in Brookland, and he has a brother here in Jonesboro who works as a pharmacist. His wife Candance is a physical therapy assistant who also runs their downtown venue (The Smith Venue). In his free time, he loves renovating homes and cooking Gordon Ramsey is a hero for him! He and Candace are always trying out recipes. Weekend trips are also a big priority. They love seeing new places regularly and being able to spend quality time with family.
Having worked in dentistry for over a decade so far, Sean has seen so many wonderful smiles. He likes to hope that his smile, and the care that goes along with it, has made a lasting impact on both the patients and the community! He prides himself on giving the very best of his abilities towards serving your dental needs. In addition to being our dedicated manager, he is trained as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant.
At home, Sean and his partner Brian have three dogs (Mason, Huck, and Mabel) and three cats (Admiral, Byron, and Penny). They currently live on Crawleys Ridge, which is a beautiful part of the country with views as far as the day is long, kindhearted people, and a zest for the simple things in life. As for personal hobbies, he enjoys traveling, eating good food, antique shopping, and sewing/crafting. One day, he hopes to have some sort of small business geared towards his personal creations!
Holly loves coming into work each day because it means she gets the opportunity to change peoples lives by making their mouths healthier. Building genuine relationships along the way is extremely rewarding too! An Arkansas native, she attended college at BRTC and Arkansas State before completing dental hygiene school at the Southern Illinois University. Today, she is certified in nitrous oxide and has her local anesthesia permit!
Outside the office, Hollys favorite thing to do is spend time with her family, which consists of her husband, her daughter, and her two fur children. Any chance she can, she loves to be outside, especially around the water. In fact, Daytona Beach, FL is one of her favorite vacation spots! Spending time on the river with her family in the summertime is something she cherishes.
Scaling and root planing is a type of dental cleaning that is specifically designed to stop gum disease in its tracks. First, any plaque and tartar that has accumulated near the gum line are removed (scaling), and then the roots of the teeth are slightly reshaped and smoothed (root planing). This prevents future infections while also kickstarting the healing process by allowing the gums to quickly reattach to the teeth.

I hate going to the dentist as most people do. But my husband had dental work done here; so I sat and observed. Shane, Holly and Tarra treated my husband as if he was family. Having said that. It made it easy for me to get into the chair; not to mention a little push from Tarra. I'm glad I did. Love them all, including Merry and Sean at the front desk.

Shane Smith DDS is a great dental office. Holly took care of me and made sure I was comfortable with every aspect of my Xrays and cleaning. Mary at the front desk greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. She also made sure my follow up appt was scheduled and made me aware of all costs that would be my responsibility. They allowed me to pay a portion down toward my next visit and let me know what to expect. Shane came in and talked to me about my follow up care and plan for my next appt. We discussed what aspects of my Xrays were going to be most important to address as soon as possible and what I may need to address in the near future. Everyone worked very hard to make sure my visit was as pleasant as possible.

I really enjoyed working with them from the beginning. They accommodated my communication preference via email and answered my questions and confirmed my insurance benefits quickly and easily. I was able to complete all required paperwork online so I didn't have to come in early to complete it prior to my appointment. My wait time was extremely short. I loved my hygienist, Holly, whom was so pleasant to chat with and recommended a very neat item to help maintain my implants. I inquired of costs for future services and Sean was able to quickly get me estimates and discuss them. The implants and replacement hardware i have aren't the brand that they use and they're ordering supplies for me so that I'm able to get updates as I need them and stay consistent with replacement pieces that align with the implants that I have. They made me feel comfortable and welcome by being personable and I really appreciated that. So glad they're who I chose to give my business to!

Merry, Terri, Sean and Shane made this the absolute best dental appointment. I've been to a couple dentists in Jonesboro but not like this group. Merry was very informative and so pleasant. Ex-ray Terri explained every step of her procedure (she has a sense of humor too). Dr Shane was very professional and listened to my input as to put together a plan that matches my benefits. Sean was exceptionally awesome in describing my plan options. I do not like seeing a dentist.....But wow! Thank you!

The people here were so friendly from the time I walked in the door. I was very nervous about the procedure that I was going to have done but the doctor's assistant made me so comfortable and calm. Dr. Smith was very nice also. I would highly recommend this Dentist office .

Brought the whole family in for a first time visit (routine cleaning/X-rays). We were very impressed with the entire staff! Everyone was friendly & professional. The hygienist was gentle but thorough, which is especially important for me because I have some dental anxiety.
