Dr Desai is originally from Sumter, SC and attended the University of South Carolina, Honors College to pursue degrees in Finance, Insurance and Risk Management, and to complete his premedical coursework. Upon graduation, he moved to Charleston, SC to enroll in the Medical University of South Carolina's College of Dentistry. Dr. Desai then elected to attend residency at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. This rigorous program gave him advanced training in treating the medically-compromised patient, as well as exposing him to the latest in dental technologies. After residency and years of practice in a pediatric setting, Dr. Desai has returned to Columbia to treat the needs of patients of all ages.

So, I've been a few times already and I have no regrets. The staff are friendly and helpful. The dentist.... He's awesome. He's not about to deal with that scardy cat behavior, but once YOU calm down, he'll gladly perform your procedure quickly and efficiently. I had a rough go of it looking for a dentist and I believe I can say I've found one.

Dr. Desai is fine. But the endodontics he referred, Palmetto Endodontics, is really bad. Due to the mistreatment in the root canal treatment by Todd Barret in Palmetto Endodontics, I went through serious gum infections, which caused me great pain, pressure and huge amount of money loss for the subsequent therapies. Palmetto Endodontics lied, passed the buck to and slandered other dentists. Be specially careful to the referral. In terms of the above reasons, I had to give 3 starts.

I enjoyed my experience at Shandon Family Dental! I came in anxious about a tooth extraction, and left feeling great! (besides the mouth soreness) Alice and Tiffany, were especially kind and compassionate to me! All staff treated me well, but Alice and Tiffany went above and beyond!

Enjoy my Consultation 6/29/22 2:30pm-3:55pm the Southeast MoviCare driver Michael brought to the Shannon Family Dentistry 2329 Devine St. The Driver Elani brang me back home 1614 Mayer St try see if they could pick me up tomorrow. But they have 3 day ahead of the Appt date Next time I make sure that the Dentist Called them and informed them my next appt date that it Urgent I I come ASAP.

I've been putting off getting wisdom teeth pulled for 3 years because I was scared to death from using a different dentistry my mom referred me here and I'm so so so happy I came they pulled my teeth no pain in less than I say 10 minutes thanks doc

Amazing Dentist! Dr. Desai referred me to a specialist for a root canal and after that was completed, Dr. Desai got my crown installed within a few weeks. I lost my temporary crown and they were extremely understanding and did not charge me extra for ordering a new crown.

DO NOT GO HERE!! I was told by Dr. Desai that I needed a crown because my tooth had a crack in it, but I felt no pain. He also said I had a few cavities. When I went home to my trusted dentist, she told me that I didn't need the crown in the first place and my cavities were no longer present. I had the crown put in in 2019 and I'm still dealing with the bad dental job that Dr. Desai gave me 3 years later, financially and mentally. My tooth is still sensitive and it has impacted my bite on my lower left side (as I found out from my dentist back home yesterday). Save yourself a ton of time and money and DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Got my wisdom tooth removed from here. Took less than 20 minutes and I didn't feel a thing. Staff is extremely welcoming and answers all of your questions. Dr. Desai does a phenomenal job, definitely recommend to anyone looking for dental work!
