Dr. Michael Chan is a native San Franciscan and a graduate of Lick-Wilmerding High School. After completing his B.S. degree in Animal Physiology and Neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego, he returned home to receive his D.D.S. degree from the University of California, San Francisco in 2000. Dr. Chan then completed his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2004 at King-Drew Medical Center in affiliation with Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. At these facilities, Dr. Chan had extensive training in the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery including: Office-based anesthesia, Corrective & reconstructive jaw surgery, Surgical management of oral pathology, Dental implantology, Trauma surgery, and Non-surgical/surgical management of tempromandibular joint disorders.

All of the staff there were friendly and professional, and Dr. Chan himself was very thorough and detail oriented. He took the time to explain everything & answer all my questions, and also called a few hours after my surgery to make sure I was doing okay. Vivian C.

Although Dr. Chan is trained in the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, his primary areas of interest include dentoalveolar surgery, dental implantology and related grafting, management of oral pathology, and outpatient general anesthesia.

In addition to keeping a full-time schedule at his private practice, Dr. Chan also teaches for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UCSF, where he lectures, as well as teaching residents and students dentoalveolar and trauma surgery, and outpatient general anesthesia at San Francisco General Hospital.

Dr. Kirsten Rittenbach brings us a depth of surgical skill and passion for patient care that was refined in the Bay Area. Receiving her B.A. in Chemistry from St. Olaf College, MN, she then completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Medicine (MD) and oral surgery residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). With extensive training in the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Rittenbachs clinical interests are dentoalveolar surgery (including implants and bone grafting), pathology, TMJ disorders, trauma, and womens health issues particularly pertinent to oral health.

Alongside her work with SF Oral Surgery, Dr. Rittenbach is also a part-time attending surgeon at San Mateo Medical Center. Dr. Rittenbach is Board Certified and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. She also holds membership in the following organizations:

Dr. Brian Yang comes to us with exceptional credentials, obtaining his Bachelors of Arts degree from University of California, Berkeley, majoring in molecular and cellular biology. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Columbia University and his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from University of California, San Francisco, where he completed his Oral and Maxillofacial surgery residency and anesthesia training.

As well as working with our team, Dr. Yang maintains a private practice in Foster City, and is also an Assistant Clinical Professor for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UCSF, teaching residents and students dentoalveolar and trauma surgery at San Francisco General Hospital.

Although receiving training in all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Yangs primary interests include dentoalveolar and implant surgery (including related grafting procedures), outpatient anesthesia, oral pathology, and trauma.

In his spare time, Dr. Yang enjoys taking advantage of all the Bay Area has to offer from the outdoors (hiking, biking, and skiing), to the culinary (cooking as well as partaking in the excellent San Francisco restaurants), and most importantly, spending time with his family.

Ericka has joined our team as our Patient Care Coordinator. She comes to us with years of patient care experience, working in numerous medical aesthetic practices, and is excited to learn all about the dental field. In her free time, Ericka enjoys hiking and anything true crime-related. Her dream vacation is to one day visit Japan, and her favorite restaurant in SF is Brendas.

Stephanie loves to learn about the dental field and all aspects of the Financial Treatment Coordinator position and is most excited to work and learn from all of her coworkers at SF Oral Surgery. Stephanies favorite hobbies include riding bikes with her family and walking in the park and beaches around the Bay area. She also enjoys cooking, spending time with her family, and taking dance and circuit training classes. Her favorite restaurant in the city is Brazen Head, located in the Marina District, and her dream vacation spots include Greece, Spain, and Italy.

Min Young joined us as an Office Assistant in 2018 with a desire for opportunities to grow and learn new things. She works with the intention to help people and make a difference in their lives. Min Young enjoys camping, watching movies, and creating arts & crafts. Her dream vacation is to one day visit Japan and recommends grabbing a bite to eat at Odumak.

She has been working in dentistry for over 30 years! She loves getting to know different people each day. She enjoys traveling, shopping, watching Chinese soap operas and sleeping! Her favorite travel destination is Hong Kong. Her favorite restaurant is Little Sheep Hot Pot!

I have been working in the dentistry field for over 17 years in a mixture of different specialties like General Dentistry, Periodontics, Endodontics, but so far my favorite and most rewarding is Oral Surgery. I enjoy meeting patients and helping them through their treatment. I love seeing patients leaving our office happy and with a huge smile because I know that my amazing, hardworking, and loving team did their best to make them feel at ease during their treatment. I love hanging out with my family and friends, running, going to concerts, reading, watching movies, and shows like forensic files. My favorite vacation place is Hawaii and living in Hawaii for 4-6 months is on my bucket list. My dream vacation is Tahiti or Italy.

Brittany is one of our highly skilled Surgical Assistants, born and raised here in San Francisco. To Brittany, being able to help people gain their confidence back in their smile is gratifying! She has a big heart for the people around her and loves hanging out with her friends and family and finding fun concerts to attend. Brittany is also another food lover, but she has a soft spot specifically for Filipino food because it reminds her of her great grandmother! Were happy to have Brittany on her team and hope that one day, shes able to visit her dream vacation spot in Poland to see the beautiful architecture there. That sounds like itd be an amazing experience!

Cindy brightens our day with her smile and positive personality! As part of the SF Oral Surgery team, she loves bringing joy to our patients. Her favorite part is being able to see their smiles after receiving treatment. Cindys favorite spot to eat in the city is Limon. On weekends you will find her hiking and capturing the breathtaking views of SF! When she is not out exploring, she is spending time with family and friends or reading a good book. Her dream vacation is the City of Gold (Dubai) and staying at the worlds only 7-star hotel.

Julie has joined our team as a Sterilization Technician! She is very excited to be a part of our team and work in a progressive dental environment. When shes not working hard at the practice, you can find her gardening or watching Marvel and DC movies. Her favorite place to eat in the city is Menshos. Were happy to have Julie on our team and hope that one day, shes able to visit her dream vacation spot in Bali!

Lily has worked in dental care for over 20 years, and she is excited to be part of the SF Oral Surgery team. Teamwork is dream work! Lilys hobbies include Tai chi, hiking, yoga, and cooking. Her favorite restaurant in the city is The House. Lily loves travelings and has been to Australia, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Iceland, and France; her first job was as a tour guide in China! We are happy to have Lily on our team and hope that her dream of traveling to Spain comes true one day!

Madison has joined our SF Oral Surgery team as an Intern! Madison is currently an SF State student graduating in Biology this Spring 2021. Her passion is to get into this exciting field of Dentistry. Shes taken her DATs and will be applying for schools next Fall! In the meantime, she would like to have exposure to this field before school. Her favorite restaurant in the city is Sushi Zen, and some of her favorite hobbies include hiking, baking, and swimming. We are happy to have Madison on our team and hope that her dream of traveling to Greece comes true one day!

Stephanie joined the SF Oral Surgery team 2 years ago after switching careers from a fast-paced world of retail and merchandising. She wanted to be a part of an industry that valued changing lives and making a difference. She would now be a part of the family business that her father, Dr. William Chan started in 1976. It is a legacy that she is proud to continue alongside her brother, Dr. Michael Chan. Stephanie is focused on meeting each practices individual needs in order for our team to feel like an extension of our referral offices. Her favorite restaurants are Liholiho Yacht Club and Mister Jius. Were happy to have Stephanie on our team and hope that one day, shes able to visit her dream vacation spot the Amalfi Coast and Cinque Terre in Italy.
