Dr Jack is a board-certified pediatric dentist and the founder of Sequoia Pediatric Dentistry. At Sequoia, we use tailored behavior guidance techniques to promote a positive dental attitude. Dr Jack Yeung grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego. He then went on to obtain his doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degree from UCLA

During dental school, Dr Jack realized his passion for working with children. He completed a postdoctoral residency program in Pediatric Dentistry at UCLA-CHAT (Community Health Advocate in Training). During residency, he gained experience in working with children with special healthcare needs, craniofacial anomalies, interceptive orthodontics, and treatment with IV and oral sedation. His research was on how taste perception affects the risk for getting cavities. Feel free to ask him about it!

Outside of dentistry, Dr Jack is an avid Bay Area sports fan. Dr Jack enjoys spending time with his wife, traveling, backpacking, and hiking. After living many years in Southern California, he feels fortunate to be back home.

Pediatric dentistry is one of the nine recognized dental specialties of the American Dental Association. Pediatric dentists complete two to three years of additional specialized training (after the required four years of dental school) to prepare them for treating a wide variety of children's dental problems. They are also trained and qualified to care for patients with medical, physical or mental disabilities. Unlike a general dentist, pediatric dentist have extensive experience in sedation dentistry (treating your child when he/she is minimally sedated or completely sleeping).

My two young boys see Dr. Jack and we've been really pleased with the experience over the years. My 2 year old had his first visit recently and he was obviously quite scared, but Dr. Jack and the team are super quick and made a stressful situation for my toddler as good as could be expected. My 4 year old is now so excited to brush his teeth with his new toothbrush from Dr. Jack. Really great place for dental care for young children who can be obviously scared/overwelmed.

Took my son for a cleaning for the first time to their clinic and they told me he has many cavities and that the insurance doesn't cover for the Nitrous oxide and that it's a must to treat him, the cavities were superficial and could have been treated without the anesthesia back than that's what I have been told by another dentist who lives out of town. Didn't do the treatment back than for financial reason. When took my son for another cleaning Dr. Jack said he needs a full anesthesia and a team has to come do it and he needs 8 crowns and the cost was for anesthesia only around 2700$ and insurance doesn't cover it, trying to explain to him that full anesthesia is not an option for me, let's see how we can solve the issue, he got so offended and told me in a rude way to go see another doctor if I don't believe him. I told him that I didn't mean to offend him and Im trying to find a way not to go through this procedure, he continued shutting me down and asks his employee to go with me about the whole procedure. I decided to go see another professional dentist, happily they were able to fix his teeth in 4 sessions and got ONLY 2 crowns instead of 8, showing the new doctor the first X-rays, she agreed that cavities could have been removed without the using nitrous oxide if treated back than. So 2 dentists, one local and one out of town had same opinion. I think Dr. Jack offers to nitrous oxide for all patients because he is impatient, it should be case by case and he should not generalize. Some kids will sit still while working on them. The only thing I regret, not taking another opinion after the first visit to sequoia dentistry. Lesson learned

Dr. Jack is the dentist I'd want for myself if I were a kid. I am so happy we found his dental practice in our new neighborhood. Our family is very COVID conscious and have not been good about keeping up with our routine dentist appointments since the pandemic hits. Of course, toddlers fight, accident happen and we needed an emergency appointment. We were able to get a same day appointment right away, even as new clients. They have a very safe COVID procedure to maximize social distancing and minimize exposure risk. Despite meeting the high level of sterility expected of clinics, the staff's amazing and warm bedside manner made the clinic a loving and happy place to be. My kids felt at ease as soon as they walked in, and we felt welcome as if we are a part of their family. My 3 years old was screaming, I love Dr. Jack, as soon as he walks out. I am very lucky we found such a great dentist for our family. Thank you Dr. Jack and his team! The exam rooms are clean, bright and has a TV. Parents can choose the TV show for the kids to watch, but the most important aspect is that I get to relax when the TV is on. My kids walk out today with big brught smiles on their faces. They love the toothbrush in their goody bags so much that they asked to brush their teeth as soon as they get home. This place is just magical!

My kids have been with Dr. Jack for 4 years. This is the most ridiculous experience in my life that the doctor threatened to call police if I don't leave. Here is a summary of my experience today on 1/7/2022: I checked in with front desk for my kid's filing on time at 2:40 pm. Upon checking in, I told front desk lady that there is an insurance update as 2022 we all switched from my husband's insurance to mine. The front desk lady told me the prior insurance was still active so she couldn't add the new insurance. After several back and forth, she added the new insurance as secondary but insisted the primary couldn't be changed. Then she printed out the updated estimates and told me I should pay $120 this time and another $120 for the next visit. By looking into the details, I found filling is fully covered, that $120 comes from an item called "inhalation of nitrous oxide". The lady told me this is required by the doctor but not covered by insurance. So this item is 100% self pay. As I'm not so good at English, I asked if she knew what it is and if this is necessary, She said she needed to check with the doctor. Then she came back and told me the doctor said this was required if I wanted to do the filling in this dentistry. If I don't want it, they can transfer me to a different clinic. Plus, it's 3:04 now, and my appointment was scheduled at 2:40 pm, so there is no way the doctor can do the filling today. I need to pay copay and reschedule. I asked to meet the doctor to learn more about it but got rejected. Then I raised my voice up a bit and told her this doesn't make sense to me. I had an appointment with the doctor now, why he even didn't have time to meet me? Right after that, dr. Jack came out and said "I heard you scream at my staff, and you are impacting the operation of our clinic. I asked you to leave now, otherwise I will call police". I was shocked and I told him it's ok to call police if he believed that was the right thing to do. I need an apology and I wasn't screaming at all. After that he called police, and told me that he had plenty of time sitting in the front desk to wait for the police to come. At the end, as my kid was a bit scared, and I need to rush back to pick up my younger one. I decided to leave the office without arguing anything more. But I don't feel my kid and I deserved to be treated in this way. This rude and arrogant attitude wasn't even close to anything "kids friendly". As the owner of this dentistry, if he did has plenty of time waiting for the police to come, why not just spent 3 minutes to learnt what was going on before being so rude? As my 4 year old was standing besides me, has he ever thought about threatening to call police gonna make the kid feel nervous? I wasn't yelling, or screaming, or saying anything improper, I was just asking a question! If anyone saw this review, and has any idea about what I can do to let dr. Jack to apologize for his rude behavior, please contact me! My kid kept asking me if there will be a police car following us home on our way back. I felt really sorry that he was put in such a bad situation. Dr. Jack, it doesn't matter how advanced the equipments you have, or how beautiful your clinic is, the most important thing is to be a doctor is having empathy.

Since Google doesn't allow to reply the owner's comment, I will share reply as a separate review: 1. Dr. Jack's claim of "I tried many times to deescalate the situation with no success. As a last ditch effort, I informed you that we would have to call the police if you were not willing to leave." is dishonest and misleading. The moment the owner came out to front desk, he told me "I heard you yelling at my staff, please leave my office otherwise I will call police!". I asked the owner 1) I wasn't yelling, 2) if he can learn what was going on before threatening to call the police. The owner said: "no, I don't need to know what was going on. I just want you to leave as you are yelling at my staff!" 2. The conflicts is not about insurance, but about a self-pay item is necessary. I was asking if the $240 charge of nitrous oxide is a necessary item for the filling, as I am not an expert and English is not my primary language so I don't even know what this words mean. The front desk lady has a very different attitude after checking with doctor, and told me this is REQUIRED by Dr. Jack, if you don't want to have nitrous oxide, I can transfer you to a different clinic. Plus, we can't do the filing today as it's already 3:04 pm. I'm confused as the front desk lady told me that if I don't want to pay for nitrous oxide, then you can transfer us to a different clinic, does that mean that this is not necessary? What's the benefit of this nitrous oxide? [Later I learnt from google, this is laugh gas too keep people calm, but I didn't know this word before this visit.] 3. I totally understand the reschedule since our discussion about insurance take too much time, however I wasn't asking Dr. Jack to do the filing to the kid, but asking him to spend 2 mins explaining this self-pay item, and why this is necessary. As patient's mom, I have the right to learn, especially this is within my appointment time. However, without even trying to learn what was going on, Dr. Jack threaten to call police as the first thing the moment he came out of office, and rejecting to learn afterwards. During his call to police, the police asked him what was going on, he said that he wasn't sure. 4. Doctor Jack told me that he has plenty of time sitting at the front desk and waiting for the police to come. We waited for more than 5 mins, and the police didn't show, I left as my kid is in panic. 5. Lastly, also the most importantly: I WASN'T YELLING! I didn't even say anything improper. When Dr. Jack said "Our staff was so dismayed and shocked by your behavior", this should apply to my kid but not your staff. If there is a monitor recording the whole thing from start to end, I wish you can give it to police! My husband called me asking about how the filing was going on with our kid at the time I as questioning the self-pay item, so he has been listening all the time, he was totally shocked and feel angry by the way he treat us and twisting the truth. I'm very disappointed that you still not reflect what you did and said. If it's not because my kid is totally in panic, I will stay there and told the police the truth. Dr. Jack own us an apology and what you did is unethical.

These guys are amazing! A little hard to find due to confusing Redwood City Streets, but once we found ourselves there we had a great visit! Dr. Jack Yeung was great with my son, who was 2 and screaming the whole time. Dr. Yeung sat and talked with my son before doing anything, showing him the tools, and the fluoride varnish that looked like paint and paint brush. He managed to calm him down a little bit. Overall, great service, and very knowledgeable! He also doesn't overcharge or insist on unnecessary visits. My old dentist had my son coming in every 4 months, but Dr. Yeung is having him come in every 6 months.

Sequoia Pediatric Dentistry has been wonderful. We showed up at Dr. Jack's office after my young daughter had a traumatic experience at our family dentist. Everyone in the office was calm, caring, and patient. After our first visit I switched all of my children from our family dentist to Sequoia Pediatric, and I am very happy that I did. The kids love it there, especially the endless movie options and the goody bag room.

Very efficient and great with my son. He was raised in the field but became a tad bit frightened when the time came for him to get work done. I was advised to see a pedodontist and Dr. Jack was perfect. What confirmed it for me is the fact that my son's physician has her kids under Dr. Jack's care as well. Thank you!!

Dr Jack was amazing with my 2 year old son at his first dental visit! My son was a little nervous but Dr Jack has a great "chairside" manner with kids. He explained everything he was going to do. When it came time for the exam he let my son sit on my lap, reclined into a special lap exam cushion, holding my hands, which I think really helped keep him calm. The procedure was a quick brushing and what I assume was a sort of fluoride treatment painted onto his teeth. It was completed without my son freaking out once. He also got a goody bag to bring home with him. Note: good Covid-19 safety protocols here. Because of Covid-19 we didn't hang around the waiting room; we were asked to wait outside the clinic and then we were ushered directly into a private exam room when it was ready.

I recently visited with my two young children and they both had a great experience at the dentist! The whole process was smooth- the online forms were easy and convenient to fill out. Dr. Jack and the dental hygienist were very personable and Dr. Jack made my children feel comfortable while he explained everything. My kids are already asking to go back!
