Dr. Robert Carimi is originally from Memphis, TN, and has been practicing dentistry for 11 years. He earned his dental degree from the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry. Prior to entering private practice, he completed advanced training in surgical techniques at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Memphis, TN. Dr. Carimi is one of the only sedation general dentists in the Charleston area and is an esteemed member of the American Dental Association and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Dr. Carimi is passionate about improving his patients oral health and wellness through positive, life-changing dental experiences at his office in Charleston, South Carolina. He engages in ongoing continuing education, which allows him to provide patients with the latest advances in dentistry.
He enjoys blending the artistry and science of dentistry to change peoples lives. Dr. Carimi has been practicing in the Charleston area for over 8 years. He has three daughters, Holland, Sutton, and Macayle. They are active members at Christ Our King-Stella Maris church and school. Friendly staff, detailed and thorough cleaning, new equipment, hi tech cameras able to show me photos of teeth instead of just X-rays or through a mirror. Great experience.

The staff here has been amazing. I had a horrible experience with my last dentist causing me to wear dentures that I've been unhappy with over 2 years but once I spoke with Jeff the fear subsided and I gave them a chance. They haven't disappointed me yet. I can't wait to receive my new set of dentures made by them.

Dr. Carimi does dentistry, endodontics, AND full sedation -- a combination that seems to be unique in South Carolina! We drive four hours each way to get to Sedation Dentistry of Charleston ... and it's worth it. (For anyone in the same boat, the Hampton Inn at Daniel Island is a very easy ten-minute drive from this office ... which is nice when your usual navigator is loopy on anesthesia and needs to be put to bed pronto.) It's not just that the services provided are hard to find; this is a knowledgeable team that clearly enjoy working together and are compassionate, kind, and non-judgmental. They clearly have an attitude that patients are here to get help with a problem, not to be judged or lectured -- and for a patient with severe dental anxiety, that's such a calming experience. Dr. Carimi and the team work well with medical advocates, and Shayna in particular is great about adjusting variables to get patients through triggering procedures. The office is pleasant, welcoming, and accessible via wheelchair. Also, I want to specifically highlight Jeff at reception for being a scheduling wizard.

Brought my daughter in for a cleaning, and we had a great experience. Dr. Carimi and his staff were awesome and made her feel comfortable the entire time. The office was very clean and beautiful! Will be back for my cleanings as well since our visit was such a pleasant one.

Dr. Carimi, thank you for choosing to open your practice for those of us who struggle with overwhelming dental fear and anxiety. Dr. Carimi & team at Sedation Dentistry of Charleston are amazing. On a 1-10 scale of dental fear, I was a 10. After several visits with Dr Carimi, to correct the damage caused by not going to dentists for years because of fear, I am no longer afraid. He knows my comfort level and continues to make me less fearful. They always, graciously, make every effort to accommodate my schedule, everyone in the office is kind, understanding, and caring. As Jerry Seinfeld would say, I am no longer an anti-dentite :) lol.

I first sought out Sedation Dentistry in the hope that I could have needed work done with minimal stress. As someone with dental anxiety, the idea of being knocked out while work was done was very appealing. Unfortunately, during the bulk of this year as Dr Carimi and I progressed thru my treatment, it seemed that whatever could go wrong would go wrong. A lot of the time was spent reassessing or changing work already performed. It seemed the root of the issue was determining the correct procedure for proper restoration upfront. I often would have to complain multiple times in order to get further action. He did offer credits for work that was negated by subsequent procedures which was appreciated but in the meantime I was left in varying degrees of pain. I do believe that Dr. Carimi was trying his best and was well intentioned but it seems we just were not a good fit. The physical office is very nice and his staff are all great. After several months and thousands of dollars, I thought we were nearing the finish line but yet another tooth recently worked on started to hurt so I had to call it quits and get a second opinion. I requested my complete medical records including X-ray and doctors notes. It took some frustrating back and forth with the office but I did eventually receive them.

This has been the best dentist but I have gone to in my entire life I have had crippling anxiety since three issues honestly the dentist was a nightmare just to get a cleaning and I was able to go and get a cleaning and I felt totally relaxed and not stressed and for someone with anxiety to get to have like a moment of where you can go and do something I guess the normal way without having to feel that anxiety and honestly getting to go to the dentist is great.

Not sure why they'd waste my time or their time in me going down to not be seen. They are the only dentist office who can't figure out that I have two insurances. I'd say have all the information upfront so you don't go to get surprises. I only put the bad reviews on google. Lots make me very happy. I also filled out all the paperwork that had the insurance out as soon as receptionist sent to me!!! It had insurance info on it. I received a message late in day on a Tuesday by time I called you were closed and closed on Wednesday, she left in the message she needed a copy or the numbers off of my husbands photo ID do you need me to add the message to here? Not sure why your so mad over my review, it was my experience I am allowed to say how it went it was a waste. Just want others to know that they need to make sure so they don't waste time and energy that's all, you should thank me!!!
