Dr. Kaminski is a Dental Anesthesiologist which is a recognized specialty by the American Dental Association. Dr. Kaminski trained in the M.D. anesthesia program at Providence Hospital Southfield Michigan. His training included providing anesthesia for a variety of cases including major neurological, cardiac, plastic and orthopedic surgeries. This extensive and unique training has provided him with the expertise and experience to be certified to provide all levels of sedation and anesthesia for dentistry. There are less than 400 DentalAnesthesiologists in the United States making it one of the most exclusive specialties in dentistry.
As a dental anesthesiologist, Dr. Kaminski is certified as a Diplomate by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is the director of the Sedation Dentistry Center of Michigan and is a Fellow of the prestigious American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Fellowship means completion of a 1 year anesthesiology residency and formal oral exams. In 1971, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology established criteria for a fellowship in general anesthesia to recognize the unique qualification for dentists to administer anesthesia. He is a member of American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Macomb Dental Society, Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities and American Association of Hospital Dentists. He is the Michigan delegate for the ADSA and past national co-chair of the Component Compliance Committee & member of the ADSA legislative committee overseeing Sedation/Anesthesia rules in the United States.
In Michigan, only a DentalAnesthesiologist, oral surgeon, or physicianAnesthesiologist is legally allowed to put you to sleep for your dental care according to the State of Michigan Dental Practice act. Don't be mislead by offices that claim that you will be asleep or that use nurse anesthetists because they are only allowed to provide conscious sedation. Conscious sedation means that you must be awake but relaxed and able to respond to normal verbal commands. Additionally,nurse anesthetists can only provide services up to the level of training that the dentist has so that if the dentist is not trained in sedation or anesthesia, they cannot legally havenurse anesthetists provide these services in these offices.
Until becoming director of the Sedation Dentistry Center of Michigan, he was an active medical staff, dept. of surgery, at Providence Hospital for 15 years. He was also a long time instructor and course Co-director for Advanced Cardiac Life Support at the University of Detroit Dental School, Providence, Beaumont and many other area hospitals. He has taught hundreds of physicians, paramedics, dentists and nurses how to handle medical emergency situations. He was the first member of his graduating class to return to U of D Dental School and teach a post- doctoral level continuing education course. He is also the author of a copyrighted office emergency protocol program. He is a nationally recognized lecturer on airway management and emergency rescue in dental offices. Dr. Kaminski is one of a few general dentists fully trained and certified to provide any and all forms of pain and anxiety control for all dental procedures in Michigan. Furthermore he is proud that the office has an unsurpassed safety record here in Michigan for over 30 years. He has personally administered over 9000 general anesthetic / deep sedation (sleep dentistry) cases and over 26,000 minimal and moderate conscious(awake) sedations. Dr. Kaminski is the most experienced dental anesthesiologist in Michigan and among the most experienced in the United States.
Dr. Kaminski has also served as the leadingexpert witness and resource for law enforcement agencies and special victim prosecutors in Michigan when sexual abuse of patients under dental sedation is suspected. He is also an expert witness throughout the country for patients who suffer brain damage or die as a result of dental sedation / anesthesia.
Mr. Ross, Chief Investigative Reporter for ABC World News Tonight, flew to Detroit in April to interview Dr. Kaminski for this program. Mr. Ross spent over 90 minutes on camera with Dr. Kaminski and then ABC World News filmed Dr. Kaminski administering an anesthetic to a patient. ABC World News had been investigating the poor sedation training of most dentists for the past thirteen months. As one of the nations leading experts in dental sedation/anesthesia, Dr. Kaminski has been working for the past several years to implement regulations requiring dentists to have more clinical training and office inspections in order to safely sedate patients. Most people don't realize that a Michigan doesn't have to verify their training with the State, and their office is never checked to see if it is fully equipped for an emergency and the staff is properly trained.
In June 2014, Inside Edition did a story on sedation deaths in dental offices. Dr. Kaminski was featured as their expert and Lisa Geurra (and film crew) flew to Detroit and filmed Dr. Kaminski discussing the issue and sedating a patient.

Great place, great people. Just super nice and comforting. Dentist doesn't make you feel bad about your teeth and how they look. Being put under can be pricey but this place IS worth it. Best experience at a dentist I've had since I was a small child.

Had some issues getting numb from my family dentist and endodontis. The sent me to Dr Kaminski, great experience. Everything the said the we're going to do they did! They explained everything in detail, will be going here from now on.

Wife and I both have severe pain from any dental work. Dr Kaminski amd his staff have ALWAYS treated us with respect, found affordable ways to help us. He is the most qualified, safest sedation dentists in Michigan. We highly recommend him. Quality is not always cheap. We have trusted him over 16 years and highly recommend him to those with dental pain issies.

There aren't words to describe the gratitude I have for MY DENTIST I was in desperate need of having a tooth removed from grinding had been to several oral surgeon the pain was unbelievable I wanted to DIE. Dr. Kaminski addressed the infection and then performed the removal I FELT NO MORE PAIN FROM THE MOMENT I SAT IN HIS CHAIR...I had to have another removed a year later and I didn't hesitate to call him again. All my family fear visits to the Dentist but all praise Dr.Kaminski expertise. His motto ..Dentistry should not to painful ..and I promise you it won't. BEST DENTIST IN THE WORLD

Due to my wife's head injury, she requires sedation dentistry. I contacted this office, through their online contact page (twice), with detailed information of her injury, insurance and other necessary info they might need. I gave them plenty of time to respond both times and have yet to hear from them. Naturally I'll be looking elsewhere. While the insurance will only cover the sedation, decades of experience in dental costs and my need to be worked on as well, I don't understand their passing on $15-20K of business. If by the chance they reply to this now, it would only add to the existing insult.

Detroit area is lucky to have a Dentist like Dr. Kaminski. Not everyone is blessed with the vocation to help those with special needs in a kind and comfortable manner. When someone cancels an appointment reservation it affects alot of people who could have used that time slot. Treating patients with special requirements and with expertly administered sedation is a special skill that requires professional expertise and compassion. A difficult to find gift in our field. The Doctors know who the good ones are. I know Dr. Kaminski is among the Best!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Kaminski and his incredible staff. I had such bad experiences with dentists until then I had been to the dentist in 6+ years, I had 4 broken teeth, nerves exposed, and was only eating oatmeal and tuna fish for years. His kind and thoughtful demeanor put me at ease and never in all these years causes me any pain or discomfort. He saved my teeth, and if it wasn't for him, and his amazing staff I wouldn't have a tooth left. Thank you Dr. Kaminski you've been truly a godsend to me.

My wife went to this place and because we use a health savings debit account they went ahead and charged the full amount like she had no insurance then we had to call just to get a credit. Fast forward a few months I go in myself same thing. Charged me full price. I call they make excuses on why they don't know how much blue cross blu shield covers They said a refund check was being mailed when insurance paid. (Which was 116 in 11/19 and 201.60 on 11/29. STILL WAITING!!! I guess they will see this face soon WISH I COULD GIVE LESS THEN 1 star. Way to put a family of 6 out of their hard earned money. See you out front with a Pickett sign!!!!! Sharpen up on the law because I surely will be in front of your building walking with a sign

I've been seeing Dr. KAMINSKI ; Since 1992-93. But , with my fear of Dentist , He makes me feel very comfortable to be there. And prices are reasonable , as to others, the care, cleanliness, it's worth it to go there. I feel safe, with no Doubt s to go to this Dentist. Thumbs up. Always.
