Dr. Mayda Ferguson was born in La Habana, Cuba, but has lived in the Metairie area since she was a young girl. She is a graduate of Bonnabel High School and went on to earn two Bachelor of Science Degrees in Zoology and Microbiology at Louisiana State University. After completing her doctorate in dentistry in 2000, she continued her training with a General Practice Residency at the VA Medical Center in New Orleans the following year. She has been in private practice since that time and remains a constant learner, earning a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in the summer of 2013. She constantly works to stay current with all of the latest dental techniquesand technology by attending many continuing education classes.
Within the office, Dr. Ferguson leads the team by engendering a positive attitude, supporting the staff, and facilitating management and clinical seminars to ensure our patients receive excellent care, have their needs and concerns met, and have a great overall experience in our office. Dr. Ferguson enjoys caring for patients of all ages with a comprehensive approach, open communication, and a warm, friendly touch.
When not practicing dentistry, she keeps busy as a mother of two children. She can be found on weekends driving to and from softball games with her daughter or walking their rescue puppy, Nikko, with her son at the park. She enjoys family time, traveling, attending any New Orleans festival, and a little salsa dancing.
Brigette grew up in River Ridge. After attending LSU in Baton Rouge, she graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene and received her local anesthesia certification.
She enjoys getting to know her patients and their families. She takes great pride in making sure her patients are well taken care of in every aspect. Many patients have complimented her on how thorough her dental cleanings are, but yet, still gentle. She truly cares about her patients and tries to make sure their oral health is at an optimum level.
She resides in Kenner with her husband and their three children. When she isn't working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She is also very involved in her church and loves exercising, baking, and crafting.
She enjoys working in our fun, friendly, and laid-back atmosphere. Her favorite part of being a dental hygienist is the relationships she forms with her patients. She enjoys getting to know them and their families. Her patients feel the same about her, and many actually look forward to their dental visits! They often compliment her gentle touch while getting a meticulous cleaning.Cherissealso appreciates the cosmetic aspect of dentistry and love seeing how a beautiful smile can really uplift a person's morale.
Being raised inVacherieand residing in New Orleans,Cherisseis a mix of country and city girl. She has a tremendous love for music and enjoys going to concerts, and of course, JAZZ FEST. Along with her husband Ray and their sonGrayton, she loves to travel, especially to the beach. She gathers with family and friends every chance she gets.Cherissecurrently serves on the board for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater New Orleans. She also loves being a Stella and Dot stylist. Most weekends in the fall, she can be found in Tiger Stadium and the Dome, cheering onLSUand the Saints.

Dra. Mayda is honest, competent and has the best technique to avoid pain, you can not feel any of the needles when they are used, she has "the hands of a Saint" ("mano de Santo/a"). An extremely relaxing atmosphere and the most advanced dental equipment I have ever seen (I saw my teeth in 3D and in real color!). The prices are very reasonable and she is totally honest and will tell you the options. I used to be the patient of a very popular place where I had to return about three times for them to fix a cavity job they had done sloppily and they did not solve it after 4 visits; Dra. Mayda took care of it in one fell swoop! Trust me, I have visited MANY dentists in my lifetime and I will honestly say that this is the best place EVER! It even makes me LOOK FORWARD to the visit! FIVE STARS INDEED!!! !Y hablan ESPANOL!

The Best Dentistry in the Area! Dr. Mayda was attentive, informative, and caring. She is extremely competent in her profession, and most of all understanding of my circumstances. Let's face it, we all don't have the best oral health nor the best oral hygiene. Therefore, we need some help from our dentist and their team of hygienist and technicians every 6 months or so to keep our pearly Chompers healthy and free from toothaches. Don't settle for anything other than the Best Dentistry in the Area!

I needed to find a new dentist due to insurance changes. I felt it would be a hassle. I read some of the reviews and decided to give Second Line Dentistry a try. I can't begin to say how my experience was beyond wonderful! I have never had a dentist take to the time to explain my dental health in such detail. Dr. Ferguson was wonderful! So glad to have her a my dentist:)

This is definitely the most accommodating dental office I have ever used. The people here are warm and very kind. They actually do care for your health and general welfare. For me, I was shown compassion from the time I sat into the dental chair. These people are friendly and know what they are doing and have a very competent Financial department which is helping me to be able to pay my bill. I really like this dentist better than all the others I've tried over the past few years. Anyone who reads this review should definitely give them a try. You will find that it's more than well worth it.

Second Line Family Dentistry is AGAIN OPEN FOR BUSINESS, and probably the safest place on earth to receive dental (or medical!) care with Dr. Mayda Fergusons meticulous and extensive Covid precautions. My wife and I had another visit on re-opening day June 1 and got the safe gentle, loving, expert care we always do. There's no one like Dr. Mayda! I've been her patient for about 6 years, convinced my wife to change to Dr Mayda, and our son is a patient and has referred well over 20 friends who have become patients. FIVE stars. My wife and I fly from NYC to NOLA for all our dentistry - with the one and only Mayda Ferguson. I've been a patient for about 5 years, and finally convinced my wife to switch from her NYC dentist (a visit to the bank vault being necessary each time) to Mayda. I have had a busy dental work history, and can state without hesitation that not only is Mayda's work the equal of any, time in her chair is like time with a loving friend. Huge talent, huge heart, love for her profession and practice - we adore Mayda.

Our kids have been seeing Dr. Mayda, and they have always had a great experience. She is very pleasant and reassuring. Her office is comfortable and well-run. When we needed an assessment done that was outside of her expertise, she told us openly that that assessment would be better handled by another practitioner. We appreciated her candor and concern for the well-being of our kids. Highly recommended.
