Dr. Erika King is a pediatric dentist that earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA followed by 3 years of working as a professional health care representative for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.
She then earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in Nashville, TN followed by the completion of a General Practice Residency at Harlem Hospital Center affiliated with Columbia University in New York, NY.
After completing her General Practice Residency, Dr. King practiced as a general dentist in the Tampa Bay area. While there, she spent time in the community hosting dental education programs for students and parents. She participated in back-to-school supply drives for Pinellas County and was a fundraiser for the local YMCA Autism awareness committee.
After working as a general dentist for 4 years, Dr. King completed her Pediatric Dental Residency at Harlem Hospital Center affiliated with Columbia University in New York, NY. Her specialty training allowed her to focus on providing safe comprehensive treatment to pediatric patients including those with special healthcare needs along with the increasing of parental literacy on overall dental health.
Some of her international public health experiences include traveling to Jamaica as an attending dentist with the NOVA Southeastern University dental students to provide dental services in underserved communities and a self-constructed people to people mission trip providing dental education materials and oral hygiene supplies to residents of Havana, Cuba. Other philanthropic achievements include the selection as one of Nashville, TNs Top 30 Under 30 honorees in 2014 in which she helped raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
