Choosing an orthodontic specialist instead of a general dentist for your orthodontic treatment is a decision that will truly make a difference in your smile. Orthodontics is a big investment in your health and confidence, and the function and appearance of your smile. Why would you trust anyone less than a specialist?

Similar to becoming a medical specialist, such as a surgeon or an internist, orthodontists complete orthodontic residency program for two to three years after dental school. There are more people who apply for orthodontic residencies than there are residencies available. In fact, there are about 15 applications for every opening.

While theres some instruction regarding orthodontics in dental school, it is minimal. Its in the orthodontic residency program that orthodontists receives intensive instruction to learn proper, safe tooth movement (orthodontics) and the guidance of dental, jaw and facial development (dentofacial orthopedics). These extra years of schooling make the orthodontist the dental specialist in moving teeth and aligning jaws. This is the only focus of their practice.

These problems may include teeth that are crowded or too far apart, teeth that meet abnormally or dont meet at all, teeth that stick out, and mismatched jaws. Orthodontists treat existing problems, and can identify problems that are developing, and take timely action to resolve problems before they fully develops. Orthodontists treat patients of all ages, they regularly treat children, adolescents and adults.

Orthodontists use the full range of appliances to correct orthodontic problems. The appliance is the term used for the device that moves teeth. It can be traditional braces, clear aligners or braces on the inside of the teeth. The orthodontist is uniquely qualified to recommend the most appropriate type of appliance to correct an individuals problem.

The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) is open exclusively to orthodontists - only orthodontists are admitted for membership. The only doctors who can call themselves orthodontists have graduated from dental school and then successfully completed the additional two-tothree years of education in an accredited orthodontic residency program.

When you enter our office to us it's more than that, you enter our home. To us, this means that we want you to feel at ease and cozy. We have a modern practice in a space triple the size it was in before. We have designed our waiting room to feel more like a living room. This includes a working gas fireplace for those cold snowy days. Your presence brightens our day and the doctor and staff will genuinely ask you about your activities and lives. When you enter our home, you are family and cared for the same.

We are committed to providing you the best oral health care available. We also want to offer options and services that are exact matches for your situation. By offering things such as removable appliances and early treatment, we have found that we can make your orthodontic experience smooth and even pleasant. Dr. Miller and our staff take time to get to know you so that they can accurately advise you on your treatment options. We are especially happy when we can do early treatments to fix problems before they become bigger problems and require more extensive treatment.

Our quality of treatment extends to all people and schedules. We are available from some very early mornings into the middle of the evening. Our scheduling department will work closely with you to find a time that impacts your schedule outside of our office as little as possible. It is also important to us that our services are accessible to people no matter what their physical or mental condition. We have the capability to treat people in wheelchairs, and those with mental or behavioral needs.

We feel blessed to be part of your lives and gladly do what we can to give back to the surrounding community. We have staff active in the Girl Scouts, Dr. Miller has coached sports at CMS the local middle school, and staff pioneered a winter Night Out program in Lee. Through it, it provided fun activities and care for school aged children so that their parents can go out for a night, or go shopping at Christmas time. We support the local Boy Scouts, the boosters for our patients' teams and activities, the Dover Youth Recreation fields, and even sponsored mission trips to Africa, twice!

We stand by our work and its necessity for happy, healthy living. Our finance team will find a way to make our treatment available to you without breaking your pocket book. We have financial advice on how to save money during treatments, work closely with insurance providers to get you every last penny, and offer interest free financing. We will see that your finances are not a point of stress.

Our absolute rule of thumb is that we will always make time for you when you are in pain or have a complication with an appliance or your braces. We are always available by phone and can even help you with a temporary solution to relieve your pain or appliance issue until you can make time to come in. Dr. Miller has driven from Vermont to the New Hampshire seacoast and then to Dartmouth for an emergency! He will do whatever it takes to see that your treatment progresses accordingly.

It's a wonderful thing to love what you do, and I'm a very lucky man! I'm very grateful every time I have the opportunity to help my patients. It's a powerful relationship when you are given the chance to help another person. Being an orthodontist means everything to me. I love being able to walk around the clinic talking with the kids, watching them grow up and turn into independent people. I find it very gratifying working with my hands, using my clinical and scientific knowledge, and most importantly, taking into consideration the specific needs of my patients to give them the best possible. It is a responsibility that I relish and take very seriously with pride.

It is my goal with every patient I meet to make a real connection, to establish a trusting and honest relationship. Ive learned to do all I can to be positive, be clear, and be responsible for all I say and do. I want to show my patients that I always have their best interests at heart. Its quite a privilege to be able to use your knowledge and effort to improve the lives of another human being.

Since graduating Dr. Miller has dedicated himself to providing the best possible orthodontic care available for his patients. He invested countless hours of education after his training to learn about passive self-ligation, earning him the distinction of being a Damon Premier provider. He so impressed his colleagues at Damon that he was asked to participate in their annual national education symposium.

We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive orthodontic care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding orthodontic experience every time you visit our practice.

'My favorite part about this office is how diverse it is, truly it amazes me to see kids from all over the world; Phillips Exeter Academy students' come in with every type of treatment and method of treatment; and there is nothing that shakes or surprises Dr. Miller, he takes it all in stride and it is because of that, I have the utmost respect and confidence in his abilities as a phenomenal provider in his field.'

The atmosphere is Like Family. They specialize in establishing relationships with the patients. It is not a rush them in and out cattle call. I love Maui and Valentino the therapy Dogs. I transferred My care here in January from South Louisiana. I had to locate a Orthodontist that specialized in Damon Brackets. I could not be happier with the Input, Knowledge and care. My Smile is Beautiful and I can and will post before and after photos when My treatment is completed.
